Does anyone know if the lookout site on Monte Sano Mountain is open after sunset? It would certainly provide an excellent place to view the space station.

Will only need 120 degrees of visual zenith, appears to pop into view 30 degrees out of the western horizon - the reflective glare drowns out most detail with binoculars...

You mean the picnic area off the parking lot (just as you pass the honor box entering the park)? That area with a stone wall overlooking the valley below? The sign says it's closed at sundown (like any other public park), but I don't know if/how the rule is reinforced. I know I was once in the park when a tornado was coming, and a ranger (official) just drove around with a bullhorn warning people to get out.

But you can use the lookout at the end of the Scenic Dr.(not really the end, where the multimillion property for sale is, but the end of the straight drive on Scenic). It's not really a lookout (advertised as such), but a spot overlooking the city known by local residents. It is close to property lines, you would think you are trespassing, but it's a public road. It has a stonewall if you need to set your gear off the ground.
