There is a reason for that people!
Actually I am a pharmacist also and I work at an iIndependent pharmacy. He has been writing these meds for 13 years and I don't know why he is having problems only this year. The truth is for last 13 years all pharmacies were filling his scripts but this year only the CHAIN pharmacies have stopped filling (but some have started to fill again-all they need is diagnosis codes)because they are getting pressure from DEA to limit the amount of Roxicodone a particular pharmacy can fill -- this whole problem started because of rogue pain clinics in Florida- also there maybe pressure from corporate people higher up to tell pharmacist not to fill from large writers of narcotics as DEA is monitoring pharmacies first. Anyway Dr aggarwal is a nice guy- he is board certified in pain medicine- he should be the only one writing this stuff - not family doctors. Anyway he has stopped accepting new patients and lately has stopped writing for soma and Xanax- he is not a bad guy-anyway my opinion is anytime you are at the Top- people will always want to bring you down

All i can say is that all this negativity surrounding the doctor should go away in the next six months as he has stopped accepting new patients and stopped writing soma and xanax. Rumor has it that all pain doctors are changing their ways, not just in Alabama, but all over the country becuase of the prescription drug abuse issue. The pain doctors ONLY HAVE TO ABIDE BY RULES OF THEIR STATE MEDICAL BOARD REGARDING TREATMENT OF CHRONIC PAIN---They dont have to answer to anyone else except may be insurance companies. so we all better pray we dont have chronic pain, because the future aint looking too good for us chronic pain patients.

what other choice do us pain patients have as far as doctors go - in huntsville, al? Tennessee Valley Pain Consultants and ALabama Pain Center- these clinics are rippin off insurance companies with their $10,000 procedures- i have heard many patients say the shots dont help them and that the staff ethically bargains with the patients- that they will only give them some pain meds if the patients will keep on letting them inject them- even if it does not help? what kind of crazy shit is this? i tell u it is only about the money at the expense of the patients- no one says anything bad about these doctors, why?

Is there no authority to check on Doctors who prescribe pain meds? I thought the state kept up and limited the amount of medication that Doctors can prescribe.

what i dont get is that the good doctor has been writing these same meds for a long time now- why is he only now getting negative publicity- all the pharmacies were filling it before without any problem?

he is not prescribing anything illegal. He has the license to prescribe these meds. He is board certified. who has ever heard of a pain clinic where no one overdoses or no one diverts- if they think this, they are unrealistic. if a doctor tells a patient take 4-6 pills a day and the patietnt takes 30 pills and mixes it with alcohol and dies- why should the doctor be blamed?
Thank You

Sorry if this double posts, but I have a long and important message I feel should be put online to discredit negative comments on Dr. Aggarwal that are posted online. I stumbled across. Since this is pretty much the only place I've seen so far that doesn't have any comments and is ranked pretty high in Google I figured after being a loyal patient of 5 years that I would tell it like it is for anyone willing to read some facts as opposed to bias opinion (many comments obviously have been left by disgruntled patients that have been discharged for whatever reason because he does not hesitate to discharge a drug abuser). First of all when you read an online comment or review about the good Doctor and you see the occasional libelous claim that he is liberal with writing prescriptions, the staff is rude etc. Keep in mind the people who wrote them. The best way I know how to explain it is this. There are maybe less than a dozen true pain clinics in the state of Alabama. Each and every pain clinic's duty should be to treat chronic pain (for you that haven't had to live with)chronic pain is something that cannot be alleviated with over the counter medications. For example my MRI turned up early onset of Degenerative Disc Disease from my L5-S1, facet joint arthropathy with fluid in the joint, spondylosis, and a herniated disc. The physician at the strictly business oriented Spine Center couldn't tell me exactly where the most severe pain came from and recommended some exploratory surgery and possible surgical work on my deteriorated discs. They sent me to their own in-house physical rehab which just worsened the problem. He then decided to do a very invasive injection which required heavy sedation and Fentanyl to wake up without being in worse pain that I started out with. Soon I realized that this guy was in it for money (just as surgeons are in it for money) they go broke if they run out of backs to cut on. And people have the balls to say that Dr. A is a bad man for providing a much more intelligent alternative to risky surgery that can in theory cause paralysis if done wrong.(My grandmother had to suffer this and I wouldn't want to deal with the same problems she has as a result of botched surgery.) Dr.A is a very compassionate physician and highly intelligent. He sees all his patients face to face every visit instead of pass you on to a nurse so he doesn't have to bother with you. I want to clarify why he gets bad comments from people who say he writes a lot of medication. Take me for example. When I first saw him I was getting limited opioid therapy from my Spine Cente Dr. as well as anxiety medication from my Primary Physician. My first visit with Dr. A he thorougly explained in detail all the risks involved with opioid therapy and had a contract for me to read and sign saying that I understood that there are very strict rules as well as rigorous drug screens. He then said he would "take over" the prescribing of my anxiety medication so that he may closely monitor all medication which is a genius idea and most of the hotshot Pain Clinics wont bother with it because it adds to the total amount of medication they are writing. But you see, That's where the compassion of Dr. A comes into play. That crap doesn't even cross his mind he would rather monitor you than sit there and worry about getting out of dispensing a medication for a pre-existing condition. This was for my safety mind you he isn't required to do this
You put into words THE TRUTH and I Thank you and Dr A and Staff, without him I would nothave The Quality of Life I have.

It's a shame that there are so many dirt bags that will eventually ruin it for those of us with real problems. First of all let me clarify the difference between "dependency" and "addiction/addicts". Anyone who takes opioids for any prolonged amount of time will become dependent. An addict is one who continues to take more than prescribed until they will compromise anything to fuel thier addiction. People that are dependent will take thier medication as prescribed but will experience withdrawals when the stop taking them. I began opioids in 1995. I have had knee, foot, and back problems with multiple surgeries. I started getting prescription pain killers back in 1995 because I was tired of surgeries that further diminished my condition. After 10 yrs of dependency, I started carrying alot of guilt because of the stigma attached to being dependent. I decided to stop taking pain Meds. It took me two years to get off. Then I stayed off of all Meds for 27 months. The worst two years of my life. I was in constant pain and missed work frequently. I couldn't play with my son or do anything physical. I decided that enough was enough. I went to see dr Agarwal. He was very thorough and knowledgable. He was also very serious and strict about adhering to the rules he had in place to deter malicious intent. I've seen people getting discharged for failing to follow these rules. They become belligerent and show their asses like the idiots they truly are. If you want to abuse drugs, please go somewhere else. The only negative comments on here or any other site are from dirt bags that were discharged for being drug addicts and derelicts. Please take your pillbilly asses somewhere else and stop fucking it up for those of us that rely on our Meds to lead a full and productive pain-free life!

Dr. A is closing and referring all current patients to another Dr. He has been my dr for over 5 years and I like him. Guess its hard to weed out the crappy drug seekers no matter how hard he tried. It's a shame. And if you've never lived with chronic pain you'd never understand. Period. I won't get into any argument about it. I've have 5 back operations since I was 19. Multi level fusions, and until you walk in my shoes ( which God willing you won't ) do not judge a Dr that can manage our pain.

People need to realize he does his own urine screen and sends to lab he owns. He is as dirty as you get. He did this to his self . It goes way out above him being a legal drug dealer. There are some good pain docs out there but he is excessive . If he doesn't get shut down for meds it will be Medicare fraud

I just heard tonight, March 13, 2013 that Dr. Agg has lost his license. This is 100% accurate info, so I wanted to get the word out to those that need to know.

An addendum to my first post....I have also heard on good authority that they are currently trying to find patients other doctors to treat them. I would suggest going to his clinic and talking to his staff directly to find out what to do. Whether it's to find another physiatrist or to find out if there's a tapering plan in place for those of us that will go through severe withdrawals if we're cut off our medication abruptly. I will be going to his office tomorrow to ask the appropriate questions and I suggest others do the same before their prescription runs out.

I agree with you completely. So you're saying the dosage will be cut in half? Do you have any other info, such as the staff referring patients to other doctors, etc?

Hi Alchick. I've read your post and have also posted a few posts of my own. Do you know which doctor he's referring patients to? If you have any info on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
