Does anyone actually realize what the REAL problem is with firearms in America? The problem is in how guns are registered not with the guns themselves. When you purchase a firearm, it is registered in your name but, once you walk out the door there is no way to keep track of whose hands it passes through or where it will end up. The solution to the problem is to do what has already been done for decades and is already proven to work! We need to keep track of guns and gun owners the same as we do automobiles. 1. All firearm owners should be required to take a psych. exam along with a written test on firearm safety and a hands on test and then be issued a FIREARM LICENSE. 2. All firearms should be issued a CERTIFICATE of TITLE and REGISTRATION that stays with the firearm for life and must be transferred anytime the firearm is sold or traded. 3. All firearms should have their ballistic fingerprint saved into a database. 4. If you get caught with a firearm and no firearm license then your weapon gets confiscated and you go to jail! 5. If you are caught with a firearm that does not have a valid title and registration then, your firearm gets confiscated and you go to jail! Problem solved! Any guess on how many jobs I just created?

It couldn't stop you. However, being that it was stolen and wouldn't have the proper paperwork it would be confiscated and the thief arrested.
Exactly! People do not commit crimes with legally obtained firearms! If it isn't legal and it would be confiscated. Just like you can't stop anyone from stealing you car but, they won't be getting license plates for it and if the cops found it, you would get it back.
This system has worked for decades. It is also the only way to take illegal guns without taking our rights.

and how would the police confiscate the weapon from the person that stole it before they use it for something illegal? Guns arnt cars you don't have to walk around holding them up with the serial numbers.....you can hide them

This would work if only we could talk the criminals into obeying the law.

You won't think of a way to STOP CRIME. All you can do is make it harder for criminals go get away with it.
How does banning my AR or my magazines keep me from keeping it hid and using it in a crime?
When a cop pulls you over, the only thing he knows is if your gun is stolen. He has no way of knowing who it is registered to or if you are allowed to have it. This would change that and make legal firearms traceable and put illegal ones up for confiscation.

This would work because citizens would abide by it and criminals would not and their weapons would be up for confiscation while ours would be left alone. Law Enforcement has been using this system for decades because it works!

So, if law enforcement has been using this system for decades because it works, why do we still have this problem?

They have been using it for automobiles not guns. If his system were in use, you would need a firearm license to go to a shooting range and this nut job would have been excluded which would have most likely prevented that situation or else he would have been target shooting somewhere illegally and gotten caught and his gun confiscated. You are not going to stop crime and you are not going to take my AR so see it for what it is......A DETERRENT!

Yes he did and you think you are going to stop shit like that from happening, you're stupid! He could have stole a semi truck and drove it through a school or stole a Ryder truck and blew a school up.
You will NEVER EVER EVER stop crazy people from killing people if that is what they want to do. How stupid can you be not to realize that? The only thing you can do is make it as hard for them to succeed as you can.
If you needed a Firearm License to go to a shooting range or purchase ammo or transport a gun it would just make it harder for crazy people to get their hands on the stuff.
If guns had to be Titled and Registered it would make it easier to get the illegal ones off the street. Do you realize how hard it is to prove that a gun is illegal by the system we have now? Do you realize how many guns that are stolen but, never reported to police for a list of different reasons? I don't have my whole day to explain it but, you obviously have no real knowledge of what you are talking about!
I can come to your house and steal your car but, without a title and registration, it is useless for nothing except getting me arrested.
Under the system we have now, as long as your gun isn't stolen and you obey the law you don't have much to worry about even if you are a felon. I can steal a gun and if I know it wasn't reported, I have nothing to worry about.
Do you have any idea how beneficial it would be to have a data base of ballistics data to search through when a crime is committed with a gun?
Many registered guns are used in crimes that were obtained illegally but, still aren't "illegal".
What it comes down to is that you aren't getting my gun but, I will give you the ballistics data and info to show that I have no ill intentions. You must also not have any clue how many registered guns have been sold and traded so many times they aren't even still in the same state and have no way of being traced to the person who owns them now.

yea but to use a car u have to register it and the cops see it when you drive it. They can't see a gun in the car...people around here don't go to shooting ranges the police will not have the chance to see the fire arm like they do the tags on the car... A criminal will just hide the weapon the cops will never know they have it....it won't be a lot different than the system we have now
