The doctor's office waiting room I was in today had Fox news on.
They were really harping on Obama's statement about the 5% who will lose their current policy.
Fox went on to say , in the typical misleading fashion they always do, that 5% is 15 million people, and that Obama should not be downplaying the significance of that 5% number.
What Fox WONT tell you is simple math.
Rounding the numbers for clarity:
95 million people are on Medicaid or Medicare- they're safe from Obamacare
155 million get their insurance thru the workplace-they're safe from Obamacare
50 million were uninsured to begin with- you cant get cut what you dont have
That gives us a total of 300 million people, but our country has a populations of 315 million.
Its that 15 million left over in the equation that have private policies- and its 5% of THEM who are at risk, or 750,000 people.

Ok, let's assume your numbers are correct. Why would you start your post by assuming FOX News had
"done it again"? I say that if you or one of your family members were part of the 750,000, and now has an illness but can't get treatment, your comments would be a bit different. Anyway, Obama has basically admitted the web site is a disaster, his health care program needs fixing and he has apologized for the mess. Looks like we ought to be saying..."Obama has done it again"!!! Better yet, let's say ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and HSNBC have "done it again". EVERYONE should know that Obama was their man. They helped get him elected, have protected his every word but now this one is just to big to defend. Have people forgotten that Obama started his first presidential term by "promising" that Guantanamo Bay prison WILL BE CLOSED within 18-24 months of him taking office. How shallow and short memories most of Americans have!!!!!

The "lazy ones" already have insurance. They have for years. The law will help the working poor. The people who work 40 hours a week but still can't afford health insurance.

Let's see...

I can go on just about any website, shop and price-compare products, and never enter a single bit of personal information. Hell, I can even block cookies so they can't track my IP address.

Amazon.com processes THOUSANDS of transactions per minute and their site rarely, if ever, crashes or locks-up.

Facebook has MILLIONS of people on-line simultaneously and it rarely, if ever, crashes.

So, let's see...

1. President promised an open market where you could easily shop and compare plans.

2. President promised the average American family will save $2500 per year on healthcare costs.

3. President used websites such as Amazon and Kyak as poster children for what healthcare.gov would be.

4. President said "If you like your plan, you get to keep it."

5. President then says, "No, what I said was you could keep your plan if it didn't change."

6. The vast right-wing conspiracy nuts at sources such as CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS are playing AUDIO and VIDEO recording of the President clearly saying "If you like your plan, you get to keep it."

7. Fox News and several Republicans have been correct all along.

8. John McCain is nothing more than a tired, worn-out, has-been of a Republi-crat. Registered a Republican but in reality a Democrat.

9. North Vietnam should have been leveled when we had the chance in the 1960s.

10. We should level North Vietnam now because they kept John McCain alive and released him.

All this law did was expand Medicaid to more people and force people with part time jobs to buy expensive crappy insurance and if enough people don't sign up then the working people with decent insurance are going to have their premiums raised to cover the expense of the newly expanded Medicaid. Also they just announced that ALL drug addicted people would get treatment,so... yay!!!! More suboxone for losers to get for free and sell in the pharmacy parking lot

Any time I hear Republicans slamming Obamacare and going on and on about the high cost of premiums they conveniently leave out the part about subsidies based on income to help cover the costs. But for the most part, prices are going to be reasonable and affordable for people who have never had insurance. Here is a link to a story about a woman in Pittsburgh who will only pay $1.11 a month for her new health insurance that beats any coverage she ever had in the past. I know this doesn't represent the norm but it certainly is interesting none the less. http://m.wtae.com/news/pittsburgh-woman-finds...

As for my next point, whenever I hear Fox News pundits or congressional Republicans talk about how horrible the law is, I can't help but laugh. Of course the law is bad! It is a conservative idea originally! I don't think enough people understand this. What most Democrats wanted was a single-payer/Medicare for all system but nope, Republicans rejected the idea so Democrats used the conservative idea that came out of the Heritage Foundation which is a conservative thinktank. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/30/opinion/sun...
And then in addition to all that, it was Mitt Romney's plan in Massachusetts when he was the governor! Remember Mitt Romney?? The last Republican presidential nominee who wanted to repeal the law on day 1! All this goes to show that most of the opposition you hear is based on being anti-Obama at any cost. It's what has brought us to exactly where we are today. Republicans, especially far right wing nuts in the Tea Party are putting their political ideology ahead of the will of the people who keep voting democrat because they overwhelmingly want health reform!

And for my last point... the website. Yes, the launch of healthcare.gov has been terrible! Make no mistake about it. But you have to be a rational human being and understand this is an attempt to reform a failing and embarassing system in our country of such substantial wealth where millions of people suffered and died because they could not have access to the care they needed! What I'm saying is that something this huge was bound to have some major hiccups right out of the gate. Medicare and Social Security all had major problems when they first launched and these programs are now essential and beneficial to every American when they get older. If Republicans would just set their partisan politics aside and try to help this plan work, then we could get everything on the right track much sooner because I promise, the day will come when people see they have access to good, quality health insurance and they will realize that access to healthcare is indeed a basic human right and not a privilege.

I appreciate your desire for everyone to have health care..i do too. It shows you hav a big heart.

But...listen closely and think about this before reacting...

You do not have a right to other peoples services..

As unfair as it is.....you do not have the right to order a person to go to medical school and then treat you. Thats slavery.

The greatest problem with healthcare is noncompliance and the abusers. I'm not sure this system will help with either one. You shouldn't be entitled to "access" over and over again when you won't buy your insulin (but by god you've got your cigs and tattoos) and you put yourself into DKA on a regular basis... And we are just supposed to keep saving your damn life over and over again at taxpayer cost. Ridiculous.

Yeah but at least the liberals don't have to bring rifles and AKs to their protests in order to intimidate everyone because the majority of people think their ideas are outdated and repulsive. Conservative psychos.

Yeah, you mean those wicked elderly racist tea partiers? You really buy into that liberal media lying shyt? Oh wait, you must be talking about the issue where they were talking about limiting gun rights guaranteed by the constitution or bill of rights. Another example of liberals trying to limit freedoms. Imagine that. You asswipes dont realize what your bringing on us through your running to the government everytime you want a freedom stifled.First it was loss of freedom of speech to where one cant call it for what it is because of your sensitivities. When all is said and done, who will stand up for you when we are defenseless and the government doesnt need your allegience anymore? One world government is coming thanks to you socialists.Nationalism will be a thing of the past.
