Marshall is in one of the best baseball conferences in the nation but they wont build them a stadium. Why? Because its predominately a white sport. If they were recruiting blacks it would get built.Tim Meeks offered a million dollars and the construction at a low cost if Marshall would invest as well. This was before they purchased the fieldhouse property. They refused. The damn conference should give them an ultimatum to conform or boot their ass out. They're an embarrasment to the conference.

Baseball is considered a non revenue sport, so why invest in a field when you can't get any money out of it? Been to a few games in the past & never paid to watch.

The baseball team deserves a stadium equal to their conference counterparts. I have asked the same question many times before. This issue needs to be addressed & taken care of.

I've heard from a reliable source that the old Memorial Field House site was measured for baseball first, but didn't meet the specs. I've also heard from an insider that a stadium will happen, and will be a cooperative venture with the city, who will solicit mlb for a minor league team. Be patient.

A river view from around the ACF plant area would be great.

Thats because they dont have a stadium to play in and therefore charge admittance. If they did have a nice stadium people would flock there especially when ranked teams within the conference like Rice,So. Miss and E.Car. visited. Also Kentucky,WVU,etc. And with a new stadium they could bring in big 12 schools as well ,especially Texas. But it was true about Tim Meeks offering a million dollars and low construction costs. He told me this himself. His son was Thor Meeks who played catcher at the time.Being associated with a top baseball conference the number of top baseball schools in the country visting our new stadium wouldnt be out of the question and therefore the revenue would be forthcoming.

Didn't meet what specs? There was already a baseball field there so it is obvious there was room for the field and with the Field House gone, plenty of room for lockers and bleachers.
Not so sure the reliable source is reliable. Minor league? Been there, done that, didn't work!
Be patient? That's a good one!
They tore down the Memorial Field House, removed a baseball field and built a soccer field in it's place, and have started construction on the indoor practice facility for football. All in a little over a year. How long has the baseball team been waiting for a field?

Specs to meet Division I, parking, etc. The source was a MU admin who was part of the team that purchases property for development. You obviously don't know much about commercial buildings and grounds. Baseball obviously doesn't have the respect that other sports have, but MU won't be able to ignore the problem forever. Everyone knows the property that is being considered for the baseball field, and I was told it would happen within 3 years. Take it for what it's worth.

It also had to do with title nine. Soccer had to go up first because it has men's and women's. There has to be equal sports for men and women.

Baseball and softball are about as equal as you can get and they have had a softball fuel for several years now. But I'm sure it is some Title 9 issue.

I believe you said it best here:" Baseball obviously doesn't have the respect that other sports have."
Specs are not required for soccer facilities? Sure, but it is respected, so we can work something out.
Hope your buddy on the "property purchase development team" realizes that you feel the need to spread his gossip.
