Whoopins are good for kids. I got plenty of them. Kept me straight. And today its keeping my son straigt but because he knows he will get his butt spanked he rarely needs one. I jave an awesome kid. Polite consoderate loving and eats his veggies too. But I also have a wonerful man who.has stepped up to father him that makes a big difference for me anyway. Doing it alone was very hard but God answered my prayers.

I totally agree.....I think some of todays society's problems stem from not being able to properly enforce punishments.

I know some ppl take it too far and thats not what i am talking about....a whooping not a beating
I think alot of ppl are afraid to punish because others would call cps once you even threaten to spank a child.

Single parents, well alot of the responsible ones who have a job and/or go to school to better themselves must be away from their child(ren) or place them in the care of a sitter and cannot continue to enforce punishments the same way across the board, yet other single parents i think are afraid of playing the bad guy all the time (especially if other parent isnt in the picture).

Whip them if you want, but don't be surprised when cps comes out and takes them away. You're not really allowed to raise them as you see fit. For all practical purposes, your children belong not to you, but to the state.

me stright I am now 30 years old. I respect people and will never lay a hand on a girl. If I see a guy hit a girl I will beat the h3ll outta a man hitting a girl. I think that kids should have there rear tanned but don't go over board some get pleasure outta hitting a child. And the ADHD drugs are a joke they never worked on me. And start spending time with ya kids don't let the

I agree, I will smack my kids right now in front of God and everyone before I let them show their ignorance in public, or be disrespectful to me or anyone else I know. I never have to anymore, they learned a lesson or 2. That's why my kids act like they have a brain in their heads, never get in trouble at school and are on the honor roll, all 3 of them :) I got BEAT when I was a kid, there is a huge difference between getting beat and getting whooped/smacked, I know from experince.

The teachers tried to label my boys at ADD/ADHD, I think it's a bunch of crap...some kids use it as an excuse to act like idoits. Kids are supposed to be hyper, that's why people always say, I wish I had that kind of energy. I refused to put my boys on medication..."the teachers thought they needed because they wouldn't sit still during reading circle", my complaint was, since when did teachers become an MD? My boy's got involved in Football, and everything changed. They learned team work, and spent that extra energy.

I do not agree. Grow up in a home of abuse and your idea will change unless you have took the same easy route out and are an abuser. I do not whip my children and they are very polite, kind & respectful children. To each is own I guess but that is my feeling about it.

The rod of correction and abuse are two different things entirely. I'm sorry you grew up in that envirnment and am glad your children have been reared to be polite, kind, and respectful. God bless the children.

i have been reading all these so called comments about child punishment. it really shows how unintelligent west virginias are. no, not all, there is a little intellect here and there, but these comments of child punishment just prove once more that most people have no idea how to properly raise a well developed, balanced, child for adulthood to be able to go out into the world and converse with others, get along with others, and be a productive and kind individual. all this, "i got whooped so i whoop my kids". i "kick my kids around". how ignorant can you people be? i bet when you were a little child being whooped all the time, with no explaination, no understanding, no love, you felt very bad. of course you did, but God forbid you change that means of discipline, no we must carry it on for all to see and be proud of it. whipping, humuliating or embarrassing a child does no good whatsoever. so many children are in foster care, so many in psychiatric hospitals because of all this backwoods, uneducated, that is what my dad did to me mentality and attitude. beat on your kids, and they will grow to beat on their kids. it is what you teach them. and generation after generation chldren are abused in the name of religion, old time family so called values, and just plain stupidity. i bet you bet dogs too dont u? yea, you do. admit it. good ole abuse. God, what would this world be without it?
i will tell you, less gangster activity, less people in jail, less cruelity to children and animals, so on and so on. abuse leads to abuse. when a child is hit on, yelled at, humiliated, that child reacts. it is called acting out. no wonder west virginia is made fun of throughout the US. We deserve it. WV is not the only state, but we come close to being the biggest offender. there are so many other ways to discipline children but people hang on to the abusive ways and you know why? they ENJOY IT. Yea, you people enjoy it, makes you feel strong and respected when a little kid cant fight back. watch out, when they grow, you might not want to turn your back to quickly, they just might get even one day AND I HOPE THEY DO. try some LOVE. but no, that is to easy. you have to make that kid know who is boss. so pathetic. so so pathetic in 2012 people are still treating their children that way.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Aries

You're idealistic and impressionable today, and want to see the best in everyone. Look straight past their faults, pretending they aren't there; concentrate on their good points instead. If a new relationship gets off the ground now it will always be characterized by an aura of romance and fantasy, and a slightly otherworldly quality.
