My son just started a job in Huntington delivering sandwiches. I am really proud of him for even being able to get a job in these competitive times. What I am upset about is to find out that they take his "credit card tips" to offset taxes. I read the West Virigina labor law and they are aloud to do so...however when I did the math for what would have been deducted from the total salary, wages and reported "credit card tips, the amount of credit card tips was more than the actual amount that would have been deducted. for example: if he earned 400. in hourly wages and 200 in credit card tips for a total of 600., 200 would be deducted from his check to "offset" the taxes. if you tax the total income at 18%, basically a average amount for a single, with no dependants including state, fica, ss, and so on the total would be $108. That's 92$ that is going where? Should be going to driver to recoup gas, insurance and annual wear and tear on vehicle, right? Just a thought...I encourage all patronage of delivery orders to pay cash tips, as I don't know how this works for waitress's, pizza delivery, or any other delivery service. Seems an injustice to them...

There are a lot of restaurants in Huntington where the workers don't get credit card tips. I suggest never tipping on a card.
