If you are hired as a temporary CSA, what are the chances of staying on? I'm college educated.

Ok well i have seen some of the people who work there and seriously, some people need boundaries when it comes to dress code. And in mu eyes if u dont have common sense enough to cover your body, or wear clothes not pj's in public then u dont deserve a job. I seen this girl wearing clothes like a stripper would wear! This girl was leaving nothing to tje imagination i would not want to go to work and see somebodys butt all day. Thats discusting and trashy! But thats life at amazon i suppose. She must be shopping for a man and from what i hear there are people having affairs, and hook ups all over the place. A friend of mine says there is one guy who works there who has a girlfriend but flirts with every girl he lays his eyes on! Then she saw him always hanging around this other girl in an obvious non work related way, then spends his lunch hour on the phone with his girlfriend like he is boufriend of the year. But she said thats all she sees all day is half dressed women and dogs chasing after them.
While you may not approve of what others are doing or wearing, if you are a csa, you have the luxury of working in a cubicle, so truthfully, you should have the privacy of not having to see everything that goes on and can devote your time to taking calls or things you might have brought from home to focus on when you have idle time. right?

obviously it is a distraction since im not the one working there but have been informed this from friends. And its not like everyone is in a cubical all day. Everyone gets lunch and breaks and im sure leaves the cubical to go to the bathroom or something to drink also.

. Do the people around you believe in showering ? 2 people near me are trying to save the planet by taking a shower once a week. The smell is disgusting. I'm the one with Febreze bottles on my desk that I spray several times a day so I keep from throwing up.

I heard this one girl say, 'I gotta drop some kids off at the pool'... well, it's cold outside, so I don't think she meant that literally.

. She probably just messed on herself and sat there in it during her shift. I think a lot of employees do so they won't get in trouble for going to the the restroom.

haha God I hope not. I'm pretty lucky, I got on the early shift team, so we bathe quite regularly cuz we are early morning people, most of us have kids and have to get them up and ready for school before we come to work.

Well i work there and all i smell is azz and feet. And folks acting like big corporate. One of the leads will make shi* up if she doesn't like you. But i would hate for her to figure out why she's a big ol lead. Probably because the Big A doesn't want to get into trouble for not having any black folks in management.

i heard that also, that mng is all white. I just think this place is a joke and yes while i agree that at least its a job, and that im sure there are some people who go to work to support their families, i still think its the most unclassy, place in the tri state. I would hope people who work there are simply using it while they are getting an education, or making plans to get a permanant position with a professional company. One that presents itself as a buisness and not like a whore house or pajama party or apparently according to others comments a pig pin where people dont have enough sense to wash their butts everyday. Thats just nasty!! Another fine representation of west virginia. And people wonder why the rest of the country refer to us as hill jack rednecks with missing teeth and 10 kids.

One of the reasons I left was due to working around a few people who would talk out loud about going on on their lunch break and doing drugs and coming back to work high. Management was around this/these employees and would have to be deaf or blind to see these employees were high and did nothing about it. There are a lot of good employees there and I hope they can find better jobs where they don't have to sit next to someone who is stoned 8 hours a day .

Apparently you guys haven't worked at Infocision or GC Services! You think Amazon is nasty?? NO! I think it's very clean, despite the pajama's and sum of the nasty folks that are in training right now. Don't worry, they wont make it to full time. Also, I have never heard or seen anyone do drugs. No one talks about doing drugs ever there. I've been here a long time. Trust me, if someone was doing drugs, I would prolly know. haha But seriously, it's not an issue there.

You have no idea. You're from Hampton, so I'm sure there are plenty of low paying jobs @ the 7/11. Your ghetto is the size of Huntington. I myself work there and have a BS and work with several people with an MBA. While there are limited local jobs that pay six figures, it's used as a stepping stone for corporate advancement. Amazon loves to promote within and pays 100% tuition or long term employees. Working for a fortune 200 makes a lot of sense to me.
The people talking shit on here have no desire to work and complain because they are bitter-lazy folks. These people most likely have kids and a husband who decide their every move(or they are the lazy husband who likes to sit on their lazy ass and play video games)-they only work to prevent a jail term. Yes, there are some nasty men who will only last the holiday season and have small penis syndrome but they will disappear.
You must have been fired because you were at the cheese line and didn't have personal time to cover it. Get over it :)

You have obviously never been to Seattle. Marijuana is legally sold there(Google it). They don't drug test for a reason.. It makes people happy :)
I'm sure you found a "better" job that pays u less and you have to dress up daily. Hope you enjoy!

Amazon does not discriminate. The corporate office is full of all races!
However, they will not hire a felon and it's no secret that the ghetto of Huntington, is full of felons. Watch the news.

Sara, what you are saying is being talked about by alot of people at work, except for the pedophile stuff, which I have never heard of. I blame the recruiter(s. They say they do background checks but if that is true, half the employees would be out of there today. They should drug test and require 3 former employer references that are actually checked. After 5 years, I have no problem helping a new hire (green badge) since I remember being a new employee and needing help myself, but the questions they are asking me makes he wonder what are the trainers doing during the 2 week classroom training. I heard a new hire on the phone the other day ask a customer "What is the A-Z guarantee, I have never heard of that" Then he put the customer on hold and ask another new hire sitting near us what was the A-Z guarantee, the other new hire said "I've heard of it, but not sure what it means" Then later in the day, a new hire told a customer "We only take MasterCard & Visa" After she got off the phone, I told her that I overheard her tell a customer that and did she know that we accept about 8 payment types including prepaid cards and gift cards. The new hire told me "I don't remember going over those in class" I know this lady was being serious, she seems like a very nice person who wants to have the right information and do a great job so she can go blue badge hopefully before the end of the year. I feel like if I say anything to management about what I am hearing, that will think that I am playing Mrs Know It All and trying to make new hires look bad. You use to be able to talk to managers about concerns but now you are best just to come to work and keep your mouth shut, do your work and go home. Because of this, I am spending my evenings at home applying for any job I can find just to get out of there soon. I have heard that managers are aware of Topix postings and read them, do if you are reading these comments, please take a few hours each day to sit in on training and spend more time out of the call floor listening in. You will be amazed how much wrong info is being given to customers because employees don't know the answers.
LookingElsewhere: I agree with you regarding the training somewhat. When I was in training it was only for 6days, then out on the floor on phones. I would've stuck it out, except for the fact that I had difficulty with the most minor problems due to not being able to hear in class and the subject matter flew by so quickly. I felt I didn't know what the heck I was doing out there, but managed to be helpful to some callers while I was there. Really did want to work there.

you couldnt be more wrong. I have not ever worked at amazon, only know people who do. I have a full time job. I have heard most of the new hires are nasty and skanky looking so i agree with that. But i think its a joke. High turn over rate, i kno people who have worked there a year or longer and only making ten an hr! So if u work with people who have degrees and they are in customer service answering phones then thats just sad. Im sorry i just dont agree with amazon and the way they do things. They give temp promotions which is crzy.. if u are good enough to walk the floor and help others then that should be a full time position. And shift bids are stupid. Why is it so difficult to hire a few diffrent permanant shifts then hire to keep those shifts filled. No one should have to fear losing their shift. How about parents who dont have daycare during the evening? They have to find another job if they end up with an evening shift. This to me means all the co worries aboit is its call volume and they view thier employees as expendable and replaceable. Thats why the turn over is high. Thats why u have all new people who are not as educated about what thier job.

. Their training needs a major over haul or new trainers. I was thrown out on the floor answering phone and my first few calls were about issues that were never discussed in class. I pay attention in class and took two notebooks full of notes. Go outside on a smoke break and you will hear everyone complaing about lack of training or employees on their phones scheduling interviews at other jobs. I ask someone who has been there 2 years and he knew of only 3 employees in 2 years that were promoted to much better positions than just a Lead position. There is such a large turnover rate there so they will tell you anything to keep you so they won't constantly have to be hiring. I heard out of my new training class from the summer of about 90 people, there were only 30 from that group still working there.

They are currently working on changing the training curriculum. They are aware that the current or former training wasn't working out for all folks. See, that's what Amazon does, they take something that isn't working and try to change it for the better. Give it a chance. The best advice I can give you about training is, they give you the tools and teach you how to use them, but it's up to you to really learn how to make it work. Nothing is ever easy. I too thought I was gonna lose my mind, but I stuck with it and here I am over a year later.
