I've been working for Amazon since it came to Huntington. I'm not a youngster and had several jobs before coming to the area, but I can tell you Amazon is an amazing place to work. Just about everyone starts out as a temporary associate, but people have to own their actions and their development to work up to the blue badge. Once permanent, you can apply for so many different positions - and not just locally. There is more professional opportunity with Amazon than any other employer in Huntington.... just check out the expansion of other companies... you'll find it is limited. The pay, benefits, work environment, opportunities...who could ask for more? For those of you posting about another associate who may have a parking or hygeine problem, speak to your manager or HR. I can promise you it will be looked into. If you're not telling the right people and just posting here or talking to your co-worker about the issue, it's not going to get fixed. Just for the record, Amazon OWNS the building and we're not going anywhere!!! We're just going to continue to grow... in Huntington -- and throughout the rest of the country. If you're thinking about working at Amazon... just remember... we work hard, have fun and make history!

. I think 3 people have moved on to other Amazon locations. 1 in Costa Rica, 1 I think in CapeTown and 1 moved on to a bigger corporate HR position. Amazon owns the building, but not the land. You can move around from like retail to Kindle but where else is there beside management and there are not many of those positions available. Amazon is an okay place to work but promotions and transfers are just like all other companies. You need to be honest with new hires. Some of them get the impression that with raises and stocks, they will be making $75,000 plus a year and traveling the world. Just like all businesses, the economy is what will determine the success and future of Amazon. I have read a lot of articles lately that say the Kindle is what is making Amazon a success now until another company comes along with something bigger and better.

$10 an hour minus tax & medical deductions I still get $78 a month in foodstamps. So $10 an hour is not good pay. I sit near a lot of single and married employees who also receive foodstamps.

. I have no problem working with them but there are a lot who work there. They said that is the only place that will hire them since most of them don't have face to face contact with the public but just a voice on the telephone. I was amazed at the number of employees who are to thrilled to tell you about their criminal past and time in prison. I think in the section I sit in that I am the only one who hasn't served time in prison.

. I'm sure after taxes and insurance on 7.25 you probably actually make 5.00 an hour. Have you checked on getting food stamps ? I'm sure you would qualify. I'm at a better paying job now but a year ago, I was making 7.45 hour. After proving what I paid out in taxes, medical and household expenses like electric, gas, water and even property tax, as a single man, I received about 125.00 on the EBT (food stamp) card each month.$10 an hour might be considered a good paying job for our area in larger cities, there are high school students working evenings in restaurants and department stores making that much.

You must be a total azz kisser. Amazon is a great place to work. If you mind your own business. People like you have your nose so far up. You can't look down on the csa's that work there. So get off your high horse. I work there yes i do like working for Amazon. For this area it is a great place to work. But you still have the same problems as other centers in the area. Drugs.

. Have you not walked out in the parking lot during your lunch hour ? With people sitting in their car doing drugs, we call the parking lot "Little Detroit".

Ummm no! I do walk the parking lot at lunch, everyday! And I have NEVER seen anyone doing drugs on the lot!

The security guards are always out, there are a lot of camera's.

I have been here a year, no one has been caught doing drugs on the premise.

. You can do better. Keep looking and you will find a better job. If you do go back, color your hair orange, wear the same cloths everyday, take a bath twice a month, get several piercings on your ears, nose and lips and you will be accepted and promoted.

Ok well i have seen some of the people who work there and seriously, some people need boundaries when it comes to dress code. And in mu eyes if u dont have common sense enough to cover your body, or wear clothes not pj's in public then u dont deserve a job. I seen this girl wearing clothes like a stripper would wear! This girl was leaving nothing to tje imagination i would not want to go to work and see somebodys butt all day. Thats discusting and trashy! But thats life at amazon i suppose. She must be shopping for a man and from what i hear there are people having affairs, and hook ups all over the place. A friend of mine says there is one guy who works there who has a girlfriend but flirts with every girl he lays his eyes on! Then she saw him always hanging around this other girl in an obvious non work related way, then spends his lunch hour on the phone with his girlfriend like he is boufriend of the year. But she said thats all she sees all day is half dressed women and dogs chasing after them.

. I think corporate needs to better define their dress code. If an employee shows up in the pajama pants to me it just means they don't care about their appearance and to lazy to put pants on in the morning. Also, these pj pants have open flaps and you can see their underwear, if they even have underwear on. Now some people will get on here and say that employees do not show up to work in pajamas but I see it everyday.

. It's not a place to make a lifetime career at, but just a paycheck till you find a job you really want. I am new to Huntington and hired while I still get to know the area and finish my last semester in college. Alot of people I met at work said they went to work there since their unemployment extensions ran out and they are working long enough to qualify for unemployment in a few more months. Go ahead and apply and maybe you will be hired and love the place. But it was an eye opener to me seeing how people dressed, talked too open about their personal life such as affairs they are having, drinking, financial problems and how much they hated their job.

Um... Most of you are clueless. Have u not check Amazon stock prices recently. You get stock yearly and the insurance is better than most. Amazon is very friendly to all walks of people. Just because we can wear what we want doesn't mean we are idiots. Lazy ass people who job hop are most likely the folks who will be on government assistance by 40. My stock options double my salary and promotions are limitless. I have at least a dozen frieda who now work @ the corp office in Seattle-I've been offered many positions there and abroad.

Know your facts!

I agree with jw! I have been at Amazon over a year and really like it. I think it's a great job, especially for this area and economy. They really take care of their employees.
