Obvious troll. Food stamps are on a card now & cashiers are supposed to match the name to an id. It's not paper. You can't just sell them to someone. No ATM for an ebt card. As a side note, to the people bitching about your taxes, it costs $2328.76 a day to pay for one solider to be overseas. I'm sure you pay that much in taxes. The small amount you actually do pay doesn't pay for dick. Stop bitching. Do your part like you're supposed to. If you think you're being treated unfairly, quit your job. Live off of my taxes. I don't pay enough to sustain you for a year just as you don't pay enough to sustain anyone else, but you're more than welcome to them because I'm doing my part.

Yeah, and what is pathetic, those same cashiers don't ever ask for an Id. Swipe, number and go on...

I've been stuck behind enough of these bottom feeders in line to know that cashiers don't ask for shit. I've actually been approached before by scumbags offering to put my whole cart of groceries on their card in exchange for paying for the three cases of beer in their cart. Sorry, but I work for a living. If a person chooses to leech off society and contribute nothing in the meantime, you should go hungry. I do understand that there are people out there that genuinely need the assistance to get back on their feet. But,those people are getting fewer and farther between. In reality, for the average person that scrapes by for a living and finds themselves in need of assistance, they will find none.

Most cashiers never look at the name as long as you have card and number, my ex used to give $50 for 100$ worth of food so her friend could get coke

they don't look at anything, ever. The cost of food stamps is higher then just what we pay in taxes.

Middle income workers who get no assistance can not afford to feed their familes because of the skyrocking price of food.....which is high due to the amount of food stamps being granted.

You have familes of 6 getting $800 a month or more.....and they either A) Sale them for 50% the value or B) SPend them on garbage. While a working family struggles to spend $250 a month.

If they would start giving a more accurate amount of stamps, these people would not have extra to sell or waste.

I feed my family of 6 on $125 every two weeks. We eat ok, we don't eat steak or frozen dinners or have tons of junk food in the house, but we do eat ok. You can't tell me it takes $800 to feed 6 people for the month, unless those people are eating steak 3 days a week.

The system is screwed up. I don't begrudge anyone help. I have used it before when I needed it for a short time when I was injured at work. But they make it way to easy to stay on the system.

No wonder food costs have gone though the roof, there are plenty of people out there willing to pay $4.00 for a box of cereal when its with food stamps......but for the rest of the world we use a budget and buy based on what is needed, not wanted.

Food Stamps are not evil....but those taking advantage of the system are. And the government needs to sit down and really look at what it takes to feed a family and adjust the amounts given. No way it takes that much to feed someone....no wonder we are so obese as a nation when poor people have hundreds of dollars to waste on crap each month.

I agree with a lot of what you said, however food prices aren't solely based on food stamps. As gas prices rose in the early 2000's companies past the costs onto the consumer. As well as stock market factors & just in general having to make a larger profit than the year before. As a middle class worker I know exactly what you mean, & as a middle class worker I also know that the small amount of taxes I actually contribute isn't actually feeding anyone, let alone paying for war, roads, politicians salaries, corporate welfare, secret service, education, police, fire, or foreign aid. The whole point of what I was saying is, even if the low lives were cut off, we'd all still pay the same amount in taxes. For those who buy the food stamps so their friends can "buy coke" are still using the money for food which means a hungry family is getting fed.
The average snap participants get $120 a person here in WV.

Oh, & I said supposed to check id. We all know they don't so maybe some accountability on that end would help too.

$120 per person sounds reasonable....if you have one or two. But everyone knows that when you have a family that amount spent is less, because your buying more in bulk.......

As far as the little amount we pay, your correct I paid about $4000 in taxes last year, that is not enough to feed everyone, I get that...but everyone paying adds up.

I am glad your ok with it, I am not. Maybe if EIC was gone except for people who pay into the system I would get more back for my family.....instead I got nothing back, and friends who paid a couple hundred got thousands back.......plus food stamps and all the other welfare perks.

I am not dogging no one..........but its time people started fending for themselves.

If they would get off their lazy butts and get a job and support their family you wouldn't have this problem. I work my tail off and they kill me in taxes and I have to get behind the welfare princesses and their hoodrat ghetto trash boyfriend with two carts filled with junk at the store and budget and I budget and clip coupons. Please spare me the crap about kids needing them, if you don't have a job to support them, don't open the legs and have them. It is your responsibility to feed you and your children, not those who are trying to do the right thing.
