We are considering an uncontested divorce, no children, little assets.
1. How long from start-to-finish should it take?
2. Is there any sort of mandatory marriage counseling required by law?

My step daughter and her husband did it. I don't know all the details but no attorneys were involved and no mandatory counseling.

I had an uncontested divorce in Cabell County. If I remember correctly the cost was around $125. You pick up a packet at the courthouse. If both of you go it's cheaper because you don't have to pay to have the other person "served." Each of you fill out your paperwork, take it back to the courthouse then make an appointment to appear before the judge. I think it took 5 or 6 weeks from start to finish. No sort of counseling is required.

My experience was pretty much the same as "Kentucky" posted. Mine was also in Cabell County.

I did mine in Lawrence County...I did have an attorney because there was a child involved and quite a few assets to be divided. However it was quick and painless...filed in October and was finalized in December.
