Here are some facts:
1. WV leads the nation in deaths by pharmaceuticals.
2. Pharmaceuticals, like painkilling opiates, are physically addictive and cause flu like withdrawal symptoms.
3. Marijuana has caused no overdose deaths, ever. More people die annually from caffeine.
4. Marijuana isn't physically addictive.
5. The National Cancer Institute has concluded in 2011 that marijuana is beneficial for pain, inflammation, anxiety, and nausea.
6. The pharmaceutical version of Marijuana, Marinol, only contains only cannabinoid: THC. Marijuana plants contain other heatlhful cannabinoids.
7. Pharmaceutical, prison, law, and rehab industries profit off of the illegality of medical marijuana.
8. Marijuana has been used for medicine since 2727BC

Our state legislature reconvenes on January 8. WV's medical marijuana fight, led by delegate Mike Manypenny, will be a big issue.

Does our government have the right to deny patients the right to medicate their bodies, victim free, with an affordable, organic, and sustainable medicine they feel comfortable with?
or
Is it time to serve those suffering the justice they deserve?

Besides all if the above, it could boost our economy. Colorado put a 25% tax for recreational purchase. States would be crazy not to pass this bill. 25% tax plus more food purchase= Bank

Cannabis is less toxic than caffeine, high fructose corn syrup, and simple sugars. Those are probably found in a majority of homes.

Noone dies from marijuana. These meds that Dr.'s prescribe kill thousands. Get a clue and read some facts. This is by far the most valuable plant in history.

Another reason to legalize. Its the safest of all drugs. Alcohol kills thousands, cigarettes kill thousands. If a safer alternative is available why not make it available.

Actually it needs more safe drugs. Nevermind the fact a person can overdose on nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, Ibuprofren, acetemenephin, and a host of other legal drugs. Itrrally doesn't make sense to complain about a drug that is already the largest cash crop in the US and not to mention the whole reason it was outlawed in the 1930s was based on the byproducts of marijuana and not smoking it or ingesting it. Competitors of hemp and the other byproducts couldn't handle the competition so like any special interest group they used their political powers and got it voted illegal and then the anti-marijuana propaganda machine started.

As far as this bill actually passing don't hold your breath. Too many uneducated, clueless, propaganda believing, narrow minded morons in office and voting for it to pass. This would be an excellent opportunity for West Virginia to jump to the front of the line with progression but as we all know its a state comfortable at the back with a setae full of complainers who would rather bitch about marijuana then take the time to do basic research and see the benefits to individuals as far as use of it, the money to be made at the local, state, and federal level, and of course all of the jobs that would open up because of it. Not to mention police could focus their time on real criminals.

Isn't it time to put more resources into solving the prom night and Hickman murders instead of arresting patients safely medicating their bodies with minimal externalities? It seems that the profits from private prisons, pharmaceuticals, and lawyers are speaking loudly here.

Aren't police operations partially funded by seized assets from drug raids. Cannabis is probably a very easy target, and they may be scared of losing that. However, there are some police, like Farley from Lincoln Co., who want to focus on meth and opiates. I guarantee none of the robberies happening in our area are related to Cannabis.

It's a common practice especially in small Podunk areas like Proctorville, OH where vehicles are seized and then you see officials driving in them. The "War on Drugs" Gravy Train will take a big hit but it should take a hit put those resources to use for real criminals!
