<quoted text>When you say "go all Hollywood", what are you referring to?? As far as I've seen, there has been ZERO promotion about this project. What everyone has been watching is a trailer that leaked and went viral in a matter of weeks. Yes, a video was found online in a public forum, but I'm pretty sure you only heard about it because someone more in the know saw it first.
She put on her prom dress, got her pageant buddy out and put together a horrid video. Yes, she was attempting,(and failed miserably) to go all "Hollywood"...

And if you think it went viral, yea it went viral about like a bad case of genital herpes.

<quoted text>Well we have now established you don't know what promotion or viral mean.
"Viral: Short for 'viral marketing'. An online marketing strategy that encourages people to pass on a marketing message. Amusing and low-budget, a good Internet viral campaign (e.g. "Jerry Tate: Office Linebacker") will get surfers forwarding the ad to all of their friends to others, giving the company great word of mouth.
"FWD: Check out this hilarious viral from Hyundai!" "

I heard about the video just that way. And since had others ask me, "Hey have you seen this hilarious video with a horrid theme song?" It holds no interest outside of our tiny city so it is very much like a bad case of herpes. Each person ear-bangs their next friend who hasn't seen it giving their 2 cents on people they don't know and whether or not they like cupcakes.

I'm sure the intention was to eventually promote the video/series, but this trailer has been up for going on 3-4 months and nothing on the page has changed. I feel like it's a website work in progress. Hell, it's probably still a show in progress! When's the rest of the shit show going to reveal itself??

I heard about it from topix, so, actually topix is doing the marketing for them..

And maybe, the stars of this Grammy winning performance got discouraged from reading this thread (we can only hope)

Maybe unkind, but definitely NOT untrue. You take the risk of public judgement & opinion when you try to be a celebrity, whether it be local & laughable or real.
Grow up, Pollyanna.
Even worse, they proclaimed themselves "diamonds" in the " rough". I guess that means I (and all the other posters on here) am a member of the lowly "rough"-raff?

Bite me.

This video did not go viral. Just because a bunch of people in our area are passing it around for laughs, that doesn't count as 'viral' in the 2013 sense of the word.

And, even if it had gone viral,'viral' is not always something to be proud of. Just ask Antoine Dodson:

he's climbin in your windows
he's snatchin your people up
tryna rape em so y'all need to
hide your kids, hide your wife
and hide your husband
cuz they're rapin errbody out here

PS - The true definition of a 'diamond in the rough' is as follows:

"one having exceptional qualities or potential but lacking refinement or polish"

I don't think the wannabe Hollywood stars knew the true definition of this phrase when they named the show. Which is ironic because I definitely WOULD say these people and this video are definitely lacking in refinement AND polish. So, in the end, the show was aptly named.

Ain't karma a b*tch?

Oh, my gosh, you have a MASTERS in English from the Sorbonne and you don't know how to use apostrophes, in addition to your garbled writing style? Good grief, WHO were the professors who allowed you to graduate from such a prestigious school with such shaky skills? I went to public school in a holler and I learned that.
I barely finished high school and I can communicate more clearly than you. What is your excuse? Tell us more about how you speak French and you live in Huntington, West Virginia. I sure am glad you figured out that I'm a know it all, trying to sound smarter than everyone. You're funny! Please don't stop!

I heard that Netflix picked up the show. They are turning it into a reality series.

Each week they are going to do an investigation into a scandalous political person in town, and Paula is going to narrate while wearing her prom dress and teach us how to eat her cupcake. Oops meant bake.. Or did i?

Not a chance in hell that this would ever make it to real television. At best it could run along with the rest of the crap that plays 24/7 on the Mayor's channel.

It was picked up by netflix. They gave them a one year deal with the option to renew for 98 episodes. Same deal Fox gave Charlie sheen.
