Who is the best OBGYN at Cabell Huntington Hospital. This will be my second child; the first was born at 24 weeks and passed away two days later. This was 4 years ago. He was born at Kings Daughters with Dr. James, but he was unable to explain why. We are switching since CHH has the best NICU. Any information would be be helpful.

Valley Health might be good for those who are poor and are on welfare/Medicaid. Those with real insurance can do a lot better.

I'm just explaining by experiences with Valley Health -- Your mileage may vary! My wife and I went to their office and it was readily apparent that it was the "low income" provider for the area. The waiting room for the ultrasound was full of pregnant teenagers, addicts, dirty people, and unmarried mothers-to-be. They were loud, children were running around like animals, and many had severe body odor (like rancid onion soup). The restrooms stunk and had caked urine on the toilet seats.

Many of the patients were talking about their "state cards" and "babby daddies" with no shame. The medical staff was fine but the front office and billing staff were exceedingly rude.

We learned our lesson and went to a more reputable private practice that does not accept Medicaid.

I know for sure Valley Health has one of the best in Dr. Meyers, but if you would rather not see him then Dr. Chamberlien is the best bet. They are the best in the area. Once the baby is born, one of the finest is Dr. Cyrus in Chesapeake, she is great with newborns as well as children. My oldest is 22 & my youngest is 3, I know most of the doctors in the area, both professionaly & in person. Granted this is only my opinion, but Alan Chamberlien was mentioned by others, & Herbert Meyers not only deliverd my 3 year old, but he also delivered her 23 year old mother.

And how did you know some were unmarried? Did you ask to see a marriage license? Just because someone isn't wearing a wedding band doesn't mean they aren't married. And who cares if they are unmarried?

I am not an OBGYN, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, so I can take a look at it if need be.

It's called deductive reasoning. No wedding ring, references to "baby daddy", using a "state card", mannerisms and appearance of being uneducated/lower class, etc.

Why care if they're married? Because the decline of family values and the apparent normalcy of illegitimacy is a root cause to the decline of the USA. It's even worse that our tax dollars are being spent to subsidize their lifestyle. About half of all births in W Va are paid for via Medicaid and nearly all of these births are illegitimate.

AmericaFirst, no one cares what you think. This is a thread about OBGYNs, allegedly you have a penis, therefore your opinion on the subject matter is null. There are plenty of other insipid threads for you to go exhibit your classicism and unwarranted self regard along with all of the other moronic hicks who don't seem to realize for all their holier-than-thou nonsense (at the expense of their Internet anonymity onlu, mind you) seem to forget they live in West Virginia.

I agree that Valley Health has some of the best docs. I, too, am in healthcare, as a matter of fact I am an RN. I had my first child at a large OB speciality hospital in Phoenix. Then my husband and I chose to move back to WV. When I became pregnant with my second child, I wanted to go back to Phoenix! Well, that wasn't an option. So I got on my INSURANCE website to see who my choices were. Since I live close to charleston but knew I wanted to go to CHH I chose Dr Derosa at Milton valley health...who was absolutely wonderful! Since I had to have an emergent c-section with my first, I wanted to VBAC with my second. He did not try to change my mind. Just gave me the facts and obtained
my records from Phoenix to make sure I qualified for a VBAC. It was all an exceptional experience!
Now, as for the stereotypical comment regarding lower income, Medicaid patients being the majority of their clientele, AT LEAST THEY ARE INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO GET PRENATAL CARE!
Just on a side note some of the "better" OBs mentioned above have made some detrimental mistakes with some of my friends lately. Maybe they are getting too busy to care as much as they should when a babies life is at stake! God bless you and your baby no matter what your decision!
