As I hear all the fuss about the proposed occupation tax here in Huntington I can't help but wonder what everyone thinks of Kim Wolfe as a mayor.

Since Wolfe has been in office he has: given himself a significant pay raise; cut city services; increased taxes. We've also seen more jobs leaving and fewer jobs coming then during the previous mayor's time in office (although some of this is due to the economy I'm sure).

Mayor Wolfe has paved a few streets which seemed to be what he based his entire campaign on originally. But since those first few months in office I've not seen any positive change.

On a final note, I did not vote for Kim Wolfe. I actually liked David Fellington (spell?) as I suspect most people younger than 40 did. I personally blame the "old money" people for Wolfe's election.

So, what do you think about Kim? Let's keep it reverent and cleanish, I'd really like to know peoples opinion. Maybe I'll run against him next election!

I don't know Mr. Wolfe at all. I did try to see him at out city hall once. I couldn't get by the Secretary and his middle man. I did vote for him in the election for mayor, but I wouldn't vote for him again. I also voted for him for sheriff. That should have been enough to tell me what he was and wasn't.

i bet it cost more money to put up the signs that say "this road was paved with your user fee dollars" than it did to actually pave the streets

Before he was elected, I wondered if he was smart enough to manage a $40 millon dollar budget. That's by no means a lot of money for any city of 50K. Huntington though cannot afford to loose a any more business. An extra 3.8 mil or so might help for a while but I believe our leaders will foolishly blow that little bit of money away very quickly. The last $1.00 fee increase was spent before it was collected.

I want to post this as a simple "WTF". I know Mr. Wolfe is a Marine Corp. Vietnam Vet. I certainly appreciate his service to our country. In his last election he was endorsed by Woody Williams, you may or may not know is our only live Medal Of Honor Recipient. That in itself is not a problem. The problem is I personally know that Woody refused to call or go see Jessica Lynch on her return from Iraq. He said he had to protect the reputation of the Medal Of Honor. I thought damn, endorse a politician but not even give a prisoner of war who was horribly abused a telephone call, how can this be. My respect for Mr. Williams tumbled that day. I wish it hadn't. Although I still regard Mr. Williams as an American Hero I just don't understand his logic. Now whether Mr. Wolfe knows this or not I don't know.

By giving himself a raise while the town is in fiscal crisis. The money set aside for treating the roads this winter is a mere $33,000. Where is the money taken out of everyones paychecks for this very purpose? Is this how Mr. Wolfes paycheck is getting financed.

This information about the emergency fund was in the Herald Dispatch last week. You can still find it on HeraldDispatch.com .

Ya' know, until recently I thought David Fellington was a poor Mayor. I'm sorry David I take it back. This is really the least responsive administration I've dealt with since I moved to Huntington, many years ago.

Well, he certainly hasn't lived up to his hype. I'm looking for Caserta to step into the ring next election. He certainly has the support and appears to "stay out of the clicks". Huntington just may have enough sense to vote for change, history says "not", a shame!

Have you heard that old saying, anybody but "Wolfe"? I think it might apply here. Caserta sounds alright with me.

At least Scott wouldn't hide behind a wall of friends he hired. I like him, I say Caserta for 2012!

Maybe we should start a draft Caserta movement on Topix. I don't know him but I'm willing to help.

I've experienced Mr Caserta's help first hand. He paid money from his own pocket to have a dangerous tree cut down from my yard when the city just wanted to stand by and say it wasn't on city property. And I don't even live in his city council district! He's got my vote. Start the draft !!!

Caserta has some controversial views from what I have saw of his articles in the Herald Dispatch.

I guess he has just as good of a chance as anybody in Huntington though.

I read those too Proud, but after speaking with Mr Caserta, it appears he is only 1 of 3 council persons who were willing to take a stand against the unfair income tax. The only controversy I see is he is willing to stick his neck out for what he thinks is right, not popular with downtown money. Just my opinion.
