I was looking into applying there. Just wondering what the work environment is like. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

(P.S Good or bad. I really want to know what it is like before I waste my time.)

They don't care about employees. All about the mighty dollar. Don't pay enough. Ask you to do more and don't pay more. Don't expect a thank you either. Alot of nepatisim. People get jobs on who they are not what they can do. Don't work there!!!

They are terrible. I worked there over 5 years in waiver and know exaclty how horribly they treat there staff. They don't pay you ebough and expect you to bend over backwards for them. They will leave you with 2 and 3 clients by yourself. Most of these clients are dangerous too. They don't care as long as the shift is covered. Then you are lucky to leave on time. If they have no coverage they wont ask you to stay you are just stuck because you can't abandon them because you could face charged. It also depends on who you are screwing that week too. I think bethanie must be screwing Bob Hansen because she has gotten away with murder while there.

Working front office is a joke too!!! Short handed work more no appreciation. One of the girls has to be with someone cause she talks about clients to anyone that listens. She thinks she is hot shit and people run circles around her.

I have to deal with the 8th street prestera alot and let me tell you that place smells like a hobo taint. Just disgusting homeless people and retards roaming around unattended the whole building is gross and cramped. I can think of only one woman who works upstairs that isnt a complete weirdo bitch. I cant say too much about any of the other parts of prestera since i have never seen them but stay away from 8th street!!!!!!

They recently got sued for 700K because the driver in the Prestera van killed a little girl on 9th Ave East Huntington. She was speeding and talking on her phone,wasn't paying attention!!!!!!!!!!

The girl flew in the air hit the ground. She was on life support for several hours before they made the decision that she wasn't going to make it and she died couple days before 13th birthday.

Did you hear about that little girl that got hit by that prestera van? And who was the driver?

They moved the rehab. Think about the building. Going to have more druggies then before. I'm sure it will make things worse. There are a few that want to help others but as a whole bob Hansen only cares about the mighty dollar on his pocket.

Who was the woman driving the van? I called a about job and all I get it that stupid answering machine. The women that answer it sounds like she can't even read. She pauses for a minute like she is lost and then starts going again. Come on how can you be a " Job specialist" and sound dumb as coal. What was the name of the driver.

Worked there for a few years & glad to be gone. They expect their employees to work for nothing, but expect the employees to give 200% when they work. Most of the supervisors don't do a thing but sit on their butts & delegate what they want done, they never believe in actual hands on. Then when you get smart & find a better job that pays you a salary to live on & you see certain supervisors out in public, they treat you as a traitor, because you bettered yourself. Stay away if you actually want to make any money to pay your bills.
Just wondering, how's the Charleston site (511) doing? Never understood that, Shawnee Hills goes bankrupt & Bobby boy decides to have PC take over, but he leaves the same people in supervisor jobs that came from Shawnee Hills failure.

I have never heard about this. When was it supposed to have happened? Nothing in the news about it. I have searched everywhere for it. I know Prestera is pretty good about covering things up but I think that one would be kind of hard. I also think that if they killed my child I certainly wouldn't have taken $700,000. I would have owned the place.

I realize that there is some negative things n here but before you make a descion, let me iform you of a few things.
first, Prestera has a website that you can fill out an application on line
Two, as with any company, they have their good and bad. Well, kinda like life.
Prestera is a non-profit company. Whatever they make, goes back into their programs. as for not being paid well, if the state would reimburse at a higher rate, then that gets passed along to the employess. As for Bob lining his pockets with the $$, first is untrue but also funny. Bob Hansen makes the less of any of the other CEO that are in behavioral health.
As for getting good compliments, only a good employee will receive one when a good complimate is due. I have worked under several supervisors, received much praise, a bonus here and there and written recoginition. Am a a butt kisser, HAHA, nope. I am very outspoken, share my feeling and aspects of how some of the programs should go. Sometimes my ideas are welcome, others arent welcome and thats ok too. I have worked with anywhere from 8-15 indiduals by my self. Some are considerd dangourous but if they are appraoced with respaect they arent that bad, if at all. No one likes to be looked down upon and these consumers are the same way. If you are a caring and passionate person, this job may be for you. If you are uncaring and just looking to make big $$ then this may not be for you.

Try working for another agency... see what you get then. Some places you work with 4 clients at once. Also, the benefits Prestera offers can't be beat. The pay rate is based upon what Medicaid reimburses Prestera and then you have to take into account the supplies, administrative costs and so forth. At least you get paid for mileage the following month and none of your paychecks have bounced. More than likely you are/were a bad staff or you would know that recognition is something Prestera enforces, especially the waiver department.
