It's a terrible place to work and I would only go there as a last resort, if there was absolutely NOTHING else available. I'd take a job at Sunoco on 20th St before I'd work there.

The pay is barely above minimum wage, the administration as a whole and across every single level of the entire structure is inefficient, inadequate, and just plain useless. They create asinine policies at their whim as a knee-jerk response to whatever neglectful situation has happened that particular day (patients getting raped, patients dying thanks to incompetent nurses, staff sleeping with patients, etc.) and then punish all their staff for the acts of a select lazy few who are just beyond firing for the usual bureaucratic reasons associated with being a State employee.

There has never been a worse environment for playing favorites. From the nurse managers to everyone else on up, there is a lot of nepotism. Entire families working at Bateman and being basically untouchable for that reason alone when as an employee, they're not particularly worth a damn.

They cannot handle their own daily staffing needs because they hire lazy, worthless, pill popping, alcoholic, morons in, can't fire them when they continue to not show up/call off, so the ones actually worth their salt end up getting "frozen" for multiple 16 hours shifts a week. If you want to work a 56 hour work week every single week to compensate for the fact that your kiss-ass co-workers don't even work half that but get by with it based on which supervisor/manager they go to lunch with, then awesome. Enjoy.

The patients are out-of-control, the low staffing leads to very dangerous situations, but there's not much you can do about it because the patients can tie you up in Grievances and investigations with the Patient Advocate who is only interested in what the patient is saying. Granted, there is plenty of legitimate abuse that goes down, but there is also an equal amount of people in there who are just milking the system, trying to get on SSI or wanting a place to stay between checks but don't want to follow the regimen so they create Hell for anyone who tries to enforce them to do anything besides be laid up in their rooms all day between meals and pills. They know exactly how to work the whole thing and if you don't let them get away with it, they will create Hell for you.

Aside from all of the work-related crap and general and severe mismanagement, you also have to deal with the fact that everyone from the lowest of the totem pole to the highest has a high school mentality. Even if you don't do anything to involve yourself in drama, people will still find things to talk about. If they can't, they'll make them up. No one is immune to it. If you go to lunch with someone of the opposite sex even once, you're screwing them. If you're not screwing them, you're gay. Etc. You'd think as many times as MMBH has come under fire in the last year for things happening to the patients that the employees would worry less about each other's business and more about the security of their jobs, but you'd be wrong. In case you haven't seen this posted enough on Topix or aren't friends with any of them on FaceBook.

So, basically, if you want to spend the rest of your life working yourself to the bone to compensate for those just sitting on theirs, have people talk about you for no other reason than that they're bored/miserable with their own lives, have your managers treat you with the amount of respect equal to how hard you kiss their butts, make less than you would just about anywhere else, and probably end up losing your job over something as stupid as using your cellphone while people who neglect or abuse the patients stay on long after, than here's hoping you get it.

If you have any sense, self-respect, or dignity, you'll go apply at WalMart, McDonald's, or your local street corner before you'll actually willingly work there.

Haha, nah, I'm actually gone myself. We probably knew each other but I'm hesitant to say much else since the Powers That Be actually watch this stuff, along with the FaceBook policing, etc. to add to their Orwellian file. I was there for a couple of years, left not too long after you did, so we probably knew of each other. I can definitely say that you made the best choice possible in leaving. I still hear the goings on there and it's the same sh*t, different faces. That place will never change and I have a feeling it's one more incident from getting shut down.

In fact, if I was an RN, I probably wouldn't have anything bad to say since it's common knowledge that they're so desperate for them that having a license means you can get away with murder. Literally.

You shouldn't be mean or nice, you should be professional. You're not there to have or make friends, you're there to a job. It's a living and a responsibility not a dating service or a sorority. You're better off, some of the staff are sicker than the patients. Do your job and go home.

I worked there once upon a time. It sucked. Don't know how it is now. It was your typical healthcare workplace. Everybody sleeps with everybody. Even a few big bull dikes grace the floors with their presence . O, and the food is horrible and the nurses are bitches .

Here is some info about that sh** hole

Unit 2 you have nothing but sexual seeking idiots who love after hour orgy's,gsy or straight they will take what they can get cant trust any of them.

Unit 3 has the liars and theives who dont know how to cover there tracks and there is alot of home wreckers on that unit and the manager is so stupid she doesnt know her ass from a hole in the ground.

Unit 4 aka Penthouse Pets is what they like to be called but they along with other units have people that have no respect for themselves or others, they are nice to most faces and hates them and talks trash about them behind there back and the manager is a drama queen himself he is a spoon just like half of his employees on that unit and the other unit he is the manager of unit 6 has a few good folks but more bad than good .

And last you have unit 5 all i can say about them is soap opera in the making.

That place sucks no one is your friend if you think they might be but your wrong.

Thankfully i don't work there but my brother and father do and to hear about all the backstabbing two faced drama living stories makes me just wanna say prayers for you and if your life is so terrible that you think talking about others makes you look cool your wrong you look as nasty as the persons you talk about

Name calling and gossip is so childish i agree most patients are more stable than most staff.
