Went through Arlington Park a week ago or so. HPD came and talked to him. He showed them some paperwork and they left. He didn't leave either so Im guessing he's legit. Several homes in the neighborhood have the company signs out in front of their homes.

It is legit. I called the company and asked if he worked for them. I looked the company up. It is what it says. Why he is walking around with no vehicle is my question. Ask the neighbors that have the signs.

Look them up. If they are in your neighborhood, and you are thinking about a security system, do your research. They have numerous, like thousands, of complaints filed against them from state's attorney general's offices. They have had 31 complaints filed against them just in WV in the last 3 years. They come at odd hours of the day to install equipment, and their sales techniques are high-pressured. Their company has changed names several times in the last few years, due to a bad reputation and lawsuits filed against them.
I read a few positive reviews, but not many compared to the bad. Buyer beware.

I bought a system and they are legit, everything is what they explained to me. They did not pressure me, I discussed it with the saleman three days before I bought it, I have no complaints and so far all is great.

Just because the company is legit doesn't necessarily mean all these people work for it. They could be frauds and the people on here that say they are legit could be too. Trust no one, question everything. The truth is out there.

I understand the want/need for a security system, but if you hear of these people being in your area, you really should look them up. Most of the complaints deal with malfunctioning equipment, poor customer service, and bad business practices in general. Once a contract (usually for 5 years, or like 3 1/2) is signed, it is impossible to get out of it. People have even lost their homes, due to fire or foreclosure, and Vivint will not let them out of it. They continue to deduct their payment from your bank account, even when the service is not being used. Even after the 5 year contract is up, unless a letter is sent to them, to tell them you do not want to renew, they will automatically renew the service for a year, and continue to deduct. I have done a lot of looking into this company, for they approached my mother as well. They tell people, when asked if they,(potential customer), can think about whether or not to obtain their services, that they need to make their decision "now." They tell people they are leaving the area the very next day. They will send someone to install the system within a matter of an hour. This comes across as excellent customer service, but it is because they don't want you to have the time to research their company. There are literally thousands of complaints about them. People are bilked out of money, and are given the same answer time and time again. "It is in the contract".....or in the telephone conversation you have with someone before you sign the contract...."you were informed." As I said earlier, there were some positive comments about Vivint written, but they are far outnumbered by the bad.

This company is scumbags plain and simple. Google them, look at Better Business Bureau and Rip-off report they've changed their name several times and have so many lawsuits pending. These conartists steamrolled my elderly mother in law & installed a system at her house before she even knew what was going on. The next day when my husband & I went to visit & discovered what happened we immediately read over the paperwork they'd left her and promptly called to cancel well within the 3 day grace period. They made it very hard to cancel, I had to send(by mail) a special cancellation form which required some hoop jumping. When we finally got it cancelled, two different guys came who were not at all the friendly salesman type. They were rude, and the one who was removing the equipment talked loudly on his cell phone the entire time and ended up destroying the thermostat & messing up the A/C(in the middle of the hot summer). So vivint told us they were sending a local electrician over to repair everything free of charge...which was a nightmare. They did eventually send a repairman who replaced the thermostat & repaired everything the vivint guys had damaged but when it came time to pay him vivint customer svc gave him a credit card # that was declined!! Not just once but several different ones that were all declined. The repairman tried to make us pay or else threatened to remove all the new parts that he'd installed! I was outraged! Finally one of the vivint cust svc reps actually gave his personal cc# as payment to resolve the issue. I've never seen such an unprofessional company...and I telemarketed in the 90's..that orange circle in peoples yards may as well be a target for criminals to rob u blind! I certainly wouldn't trust this bunch of clowns with my familys safety.

If you did purchase from them, do yourself a favor and cancel then change your checking info....any company that requires u to pay by auto draft from ur checking acct is fishy to say the least. These guys put me through a living nightmare, hope u don't have to go through the same.

And...what kind of respective company has only a 3 day grace period before locking you into an iron clad agreement during which they insist on deducting payment directly from your bank account? Also, if u do manage to wise up before the end of said grace period, you have to cancel by mail? And only by sending a special cancellation form? Crooks!

Wow! Thanks...my wife bought into this system but after hearing this I did some research and mailed my cancellation notice. Now I know what you went through, any company that has their track record needs ran outta the tristate.
