Today they sent me a thing wanting me to make a copy of the court order for my kids insurance and they want policy numbers and a bunch of other stuff. Is it legal for them to ask for this?? I thought their job is to collect child support. This is crazy. I'm thinking about throwing this in the trash but I want to hear from people on here that may know about this.

Actually they can, if the court ordered you to carry the insurance. It goes hand in hand with the child support agency. It also protects you in a way as well just in case the ex decides to throw it out there that you aren't carrying insurance. It will also show up if your ex ever applies for any government assistance.

So they want proof that you are doing what you were ordered to do? Shocking
Why do you have a problem with it?
1. Why is it their business?

2. I'm doing it, no one has complained that I'm not and why do I have to my time to jump through a bunch of hoops to prove I'm doing it?

EDirections: First, catch a possum. This in itself is excellent entertainment on a moonlight night. Skin the possum and remove the head and feet. Be sure to wash it thoroughly. Freeze overnight either outside or in a refrigerator. When ready to cook, peel the potatoes and boil them tender in lightly salted water along with the butter and sugar. At the same time, stew the possum tender in a tightly covered pan with a little water. Arrange the taters around the possum, strip with bacon, sprinkle with thyme or marjoram, or pepper, and brown in the oven. Baste often with the drippings.

Kudos to you.. I would happily send anything they wanted because it shows you in a good light. You know some women tend to make things up just to peeve off their ex. It will be helpful if your kids are young and you will be in the court system for many years. However...Sallyjean, if you are hurt on the job you contact the court and they will modify the payments as to what your income is. Then you go back to court when you are back to your job normally to have it modified to its original amount. But if you don't do it...yes you get behind and go to jail...Not the custodial parents fault.. Yours. You absolutely sound like a second wife. It was his fault not hers. Just sayin

Not as easy as it sounds there genius. Takes months to get a court date while the past due cs keeps racking up. God forbid the judge to back date the past due support up to when you got hurt. Laws are not fair to us fathers now a days.

Yep a second wife...wow you must be so smart. Yes he did go to court, asked for a modification, as we waited for a court date a warrant was issued for his arrest because he was falling behind. Once we got to court he was back on the job and was told no modification was needed, since he was making the same....never mind he spent 6 months (with her lawyer dragging things along) the judge would not even entertain the idea of changing the back order.

We have NEVER begrudged the children of child support EVER. My husband has always paid, yet for those 6 months he was sent to jail for a week and they tacked on interest, that continued to grow until we got it paid off..in the end we paid a extra $1000 just in interest.

We pay over $600 a month in child support, yet mom gets mad when ever he has to say no about something, kid wants a $200 pair of shoes, we said no....she demanded a modification to try and increase support in revenge. I get why some guys hide........between vindictive ex's and the thugs they have to back them up (Child support) I feel any man who has a child with a woman is a fool.

It does not take $600 to support a child...maybe if your adding in Moms new car and her fancy clothes she seems to afford while the kid begs dad for stuff that child support should be paying for....the kicker, she is not even his. After 2 years of paying support mom tells him the child belongs to someone else, he takes it to court and is told that because he had been supporting the child for 2 years, that it was in the best interest of the child to have him in her life. That because the child thought he was the father, that it would be harmful to change that, nevermind that the child was 2 and he had only laid eyes on her twice (Mom fights all visitation) The child is now 17 and thank god this nightmare is almost over.

He must not have contacted the court as soon as the incident happened..must have been months late. Sorry for ya'll cause there are vindictive women that know their ex's are...uh...kinda soft to put it mildly and walk all over them.. Gotta be smarter than them and take some advise from others that have already been there.

Currently the child support office is a joke. If you want your child support modified because one parent is making more money, you have to jump through hoops for them. My daughter is in the care of a third party due to the fact that her father lost custody of her. I have paid my child support with out missing a beat. My child is a hell raiser and think things should be done her way. When I tell her no she cusses me out throws fits, runs away. She thinks I am the child and I should listen to her. So I said fine live somewhere else. Unless you behave by my rules you cant live with me. I am not taking the abuse of a child. Long story short dad was making several grand a month. He went to jail lost his job skipped town and currently was not working or paying his support. He is several months behind. Again I have not missed one payment. The third party decided since dads original support order was for minimum wage and he was making several grand its time for a modification. Well that means that I had to give them my income again. My income has not change since the original order. Which means my child support shouldnt change. Wrong. Dad failed to turn his income in for modification so again they base it on minimum wage. He is working for a temp agency that child support office cant seem to find any information due to it being out of state. So now my child support is due to increase because dad is not making as much money as the original order. Dad is behind on payments, and refuses to send any money to care for his child while I have to pay more. The child support office told me that as long as my income has not changed 15% that my child support wouldnt change. They lied. They also told me that my payment had nothing to due with dads payment. That also was a lie. Child support is calculated by combining both incomes together and getting a figure. Then whoever makes more pays more. Even if a child is with a custodial parent there income is factored into coming up with the amount that it would take to care for the child. Child support office lies. The father didnt turn in income so he gets to pay less. I shouldnt have took time off work that I dont get paid for and kissed their a**. When they down right lied to my face. If they wanted my income all they had to do is type me into the computer system and see how much I made. Hire a lawyer or seek legal advice. There is some lawyers, not in Huntington that will give you the information you need. Good luck.

P.S. Sallyjean- It is my guess that the judge was female?

You're a pos. Raise your own kids or don't bich about paying to have someone else do it.
Seriously, you dont know me. I did raise my child. There is a difference with raising a child an being abused by a child. I do pay for my child and have paid for my child all her life. So what you are saying is that its ok for a child to abuse a parent. Hit a parent, cuss a parent, steal and do drugs. But its not ok to discipline a child. You are a real piece of work. What hole did you dig yourself out of. And thanks for calling me a POS.

I am so glad things worked out for you really, but thats not the case for everyone. A modification was requested within 2 weeks of him being hurt. We filled out the paper work and sent it in, Mom contested and hired a lawyer so it went to court, where they got two continuances, in the mean time she quit her job by the time Ohio heard the case (6 months later) he was back at work.........just because you got lucky, does not mean everyone does.

And yes, it was a female judge, who was a total POS

I am not lucky. I have not went to court yet. All I did was seek advise from a lawyer. My child support payment that they figured will double almost triple because the father my EX didnt respond to child support office request. I am still fighting this battle. I cant afford a lawyer. Child support office will lie to you and take whatever they can. My ex the father was making close to 6 grand a month. Now tell me how you go from living on that type of money to minimum wage. Yeah right

My ex wants me to get child support stopped for him because he is so far behind they are threatening to put him in jail for it. I don't know what to do. He has threatened me over the phone that he will stop seeing his kids. I have the conversations recorded on my phone and a couple of nasty texts he sent me. I don't want to file a police report on my kids dad and do not wish to have my kids have no dad in there life, but I am sure what he is doing is wrong. Has anybody else went thru this? I need some advice.

It certainly takes much more than $600 a month to support a child! Housing, utilities, clothing, food, school sports/activities,school parties pictures...... Need I continue? Get the point???
