New to the area and recently expecting.

I have high expectations as my last OB from another state was truly the best of the best.

I do not want to visit a 'clinic'. I do not want to visit an office with the majority on Government assistance (sorry but the quality is never the same, I hate to profile like that...it's not the people I'm judging, it's the quality of the office and staff).
I don't mind a private practice.

Male doctors are okay, but I don't want a skeevy creeper, NO old men! Women are okay as long as they aren't bitchy (tried Price at University OB/GYN...ugh no way am I going back to the money chaser! And I do not want holier than thou Christians. Brewer was one exam away from inviting me to her church. No thanks. I'm agnostic.

I'd like someone who seems genuinely concerned, asks questions and doesn't mind a sit down pow-wow. A pleasant staff is a plus..

Ugh, I already feel this is going to be a complicated task!!

You can rule out Valley Health then. They're the Medicaid OB provider for the area.

I just had a baby 2 weeks ago. My doctor is Dr Linda Savory with University Women's and Family Medical Center on 20th St. She is phenomenal. She's a family practice physician and I've went to her for a few years. Google her, she's won some recognition.

I love the idea of having a caring, knowledgable doctor as a one stop shop for all of my and now my son's medical needs. I had a high risk pregnancy with gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. The last month I was admitted to the hospital several times and she would always stop by during her lunch or after office hours to check on me, fully inform me of our plan of action, etc.

Unfortunately, she was scheduled for vacation during my last admission and referred me to a wonderful colleague, Dr Adam Franks with Cabell. He was great during my office visit, even called me at home to check on me twice over that weekend. I was admitted for a final time that Monday and induced on Tuesday. The whole time he and his resident responded to all of my questions, were compassionate and I loved they were matter of fact. I ended up delivering via emergency c-section and ended up staying for several days after while my son was in NICU. Dr Savory returned and before she even got settled from being back in town stopped to see me and followup on us.

I didn't mean to write a novel and I typically don't make recommendations but I was so impressed with everyone, including the doctor's office staff and response time, I wanted to share.

I would totally recommend Dr. Allan Chamberlain he has been my dr for nearly 20 years. Yeah at first I was a little skiddish on having a male dr but he is totally professional and has never made me feel uncomfortable in the slightest. He will sit and listen to ya cry or laugh just whatever the mood is while your there. And if ya gotta talk you get off the table and sit like normal people. Sure dr's make good money but he's never been one to flaunt it. Delivered 3 of my children and never once let me suffer in agony for hours. Good luck on your search:)

Julie Brewer is not a doctor. She's a nurse practitioner. But she is wonderful and very caring.

Right, already went the Brewer route....she is nice but I need a real OB, plus I didn't like having to pay extra for lab fees at her office!

This is so overwhelming. Thanks for all of the responses.

i like everyone at United Health Professionals in Barboursville. Dr, Chamberlain is there as well as a whole lot of other awesome OB/GYNs and Certified Nurse Midwives. They also have a family doctor there as well who is an excellent pediatrician!!

What's great about it, is that if you have your OB/GYN and family doctor there, theres no faxing of records, etc. etc. Everything's all in one place!!
