You mean the LARPers? Give 'em a break. It gets them out of mom's basement for some sunlight and fresh air.

Live Action Role Playing

Sort of like CIvil War reenactorments, except that they re-create imaginary groups and time periods, often medieval or fantasy oriented.

The freak parade should've been held at another area of the park, not next to the swings and sand. Ritter used to be a nice place to take kids. Even there, one can't escape the weirdos and obnoxious, foul mouthed teen thugs.

Yeah god forbid some kids go to the park and have a good time LARPing or whatever. You sound like a real a**

If they were being obscene, then no, they shouldn't have been around the playground.

But I kind of doubt they were interfering with kids. Let the young people have some fun. It takes imagination and smarts to come up with those games, and I'd rather have my kid doing that than what so many teens do in this area.

It's harmless fun. Live and let live.

Couldnt agree more! Those kids weren't bothering anyone! I was there with my baby. I'd rather my kids have their own "style" and be "different, " than be out here in these streets doing drugs. I'm sure they look at it as a way of expressing themselves. Quit being so judgemental. Some of those kids, as "creepy" as they may appear, are the most kind-hearted individuals around!!!

Ive seen them a few times. It looks like harmless fun for all the local nerds. Plus it gets them away from the incest porn and cheetos for a couple hours.

I'm actually a "larper" who plays there at Ritter Park. I ran across this while searching for something else. Kind of pathetic that an adult has nothing better to do then to post hate about a bunch of kids playing a game. Loser

Yeah, scrutinize a group of people for having some fun. Gee, maybe they should get some drugs and guns like the rest of Huntington.

OP = idiot.

Im one of those LARPers to which you refer, just a few examples of what these "degenerates" do:
2014 donated in excess of 1000$ to the tri-state area foodbanks.
2013 donated in excess of 800$ to tri-state area foodbanks.
Weekly walk the areas of the park we use cleaning up debris and litter so EVERYONE has a cleaner safer park to use.
Oh yeah, and we dress is costumes and pretend to be knights, or wizards, or monsters of some flavor or a other...
Perhaps, rather than assume because we look different than you that we shouldnt be permitted to use the public park that our tax dollars help pay for (yes we have jobs and pay taxes) you should teach your children that tolerance and exceptance is a better way of life than exclusion, discrimination and hate speach?

I have actually spoken to these larpers before. Yes they would be considered "odd" by many people, but if that makes them happy then who are you to judge? These people are harmless and well intentioned. They are at least being active and spending some time outside. They have just as much right to be there as anyone else.

As a member of the LARP, let me share some relevant (and more importantly) factual information.
We are a diverse group of people, from ages 8-37. We have an extensive set of rules that put safety and fun as the utmost importance.
We are active in the community, raising hundreds of dollars every year to feed hungry west virginians. I personally take pride in this, and I live in Kentucky.
Its a fantastic place to meet new friends and encourage physical fitness. Other things besides the fighting aspect are taught: arts, crafts, lessons in medieval history, leadership skills, interpersonal skills and acceptance of all people, members or not, in a friendly setting.
The only time we are near the playground area is when it is raining. Pretty sure I don't see many kids playing on swings then.
By all means, pay us a visit and learn more about us before making a rush judgement on a group of 50-100 people. Even you detractors are welcome to come by, you might just enjoy yourself.

I cannot beleive Im reading this. I personally do not do it, but my brother does. They are not vulgar or profane with what they do. Get over it. At least they aren't shooting dope in the sandpit. We have so much going on in our community for you to focus on this and start talking trash. I suggest you leave them alone and put all of your time into something else. Maybe worry about the 8 year olds cussing and swearing that i saw up there last week. These people contribute. You are just annoying.

Yea, cause id much rather see these useless teenagers and grown men walking with their pants around their knees thinking they are some "gangster"dealing drugs and shooting people. A much better contribute to society... If you were their with your kids, I truly feel sorry for them. Hopefully they wont grow up to be like you. Hopefully they will grow up to realize how closed-minded their parent is and choose to not be like you. If you have no kids, then its kind of creepy you were there by the swings and sand.

I enjoy watching them while doing cardio. At least they can't let loose and enjoy themselves. Stop hating on them because you aren't the same. Go jack to your mom.
