When I wrote my fiction book about Huntington's drug problem I previewed it here. That was over two years ago. It is still true today. I am posting the book in six parts and then the sequel. The first one is about pills and the second is heroin. I feel this is a cautionary tale that needs to be heard so I'm giving it away. It is fact based.

The idea behind Money Town wasn't to just say that Huntington has a drug problem even though when it was written almost three years ago some people were in denial.
The main goal was to be objective and looking at the reasons. That's why I decided to do fiction.
You have the father who is working so hard to support his family he doesn't see that his wife is addicted. She didn't choose to be an addict but was in an accident and addiction snuck up on her. The daughter is daddy's lil girl and he doesn't realize she is running with the wrong people
You have cops that are burned out and riding the clock. You have city officials who want to hide or deny the problem so they get reelected. You have a legal system that looks the other way
Everyone can justify the things they do.

Just merely accepting Huntington has a drug problem will not solve anything. We have to understand why. This book was written almost three years ago and in that time we have gone from being in a bubble to denial to acceptance and with acceptance comes avoiding the problem and not dealing with it
The story is a cautionary tale that things can get worse.

So I've been asked a few times if the characters in Money Town are based on real people. The answer is somewhat. There is parts of real police officers and other people in the Money Town and Money Town 2 stories. Some characters may have parts of a few people in them.

I have read parts 1-4 and can not wait to read the rest! David, you have hit the nail on the head with this book so far. I have worked with drug addicts and the criminal element for several years, and your descriptions are spot on! Keep up the good work, and keep trying to educate the public about this pervasive problem. I look forward to reading the rest!
