How many are you guilty of?

1. Tattoos - Leviticus 19:28
2. Rounded haircuts - Leviticus 19:27
3. Men with injured or cut off private parts entering into houses of God - Deuteronomy 23:1
4. Consulting psychics - Leviticus 19:31
5. Gossiping - Leviticus 19:16
6. Wives helping out their husband in a fight - Deuteronomy 25:11-12
7. Eating a ham sandwich - Leviticus 11:7-8
8. Children cursing their parents - Exodus 21:17
9. Getting remarried after getting divorced - Mark - 10:11-12
10. Working on the Sabbath - Exodus 31:14-15
11. Women speaking in houses of God - 1 Corinthians 14:34-35
12. Eating shrimp, lobster, and other assorted seafood - Leviticus 10:10-11
13. Losing your virginity before getting married - Deuteronomy 22:20-21

Think of this the next time you use the Bible to justify your hatred of another.

Yep and when christians speak out against gays they normally quote the old testament.

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

That's the one I always hear.

If you christians would please all get together and decide if old testament law still applies or not, that would be a start. We'll work from there.

Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17 NAB)

Sick and tired of the phrase hate the sin but love the sinner

Proverbs 6:16-19
New International Version (NIV)

16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

When Christians become perfect let me know. Christians and gays seem to be the most hated people in our culture these days.

“The single greatest cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, then walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable”

No. No. No. No. You're just taking it of context. It's a mistranslation. You can't understand without the holy spirit. It's a parable. You can't know the ways of god. Etc, etc.

Insert normal christian excuses for problems with bible "here".

Scholars of the bible know that the only Old Testament laws that were made obsolete by the crucifixion were the laws of the Levitical priesthood.

There are various covenants in the Old Testament that are still to be followed. Commandments against eating unclean meats pre-date the Mosaic Covenant.

The Church at some point likely attempted to explain it to the unlearned followers as "Old Testament"/"New Testament" as to the laws to follow. A precise reading of the New Testament reveals that not every covenant of the Old Testament was abolished.

And any mention of clean and unclean in the New Testament should be checked against the Greek words koinos and akathartos. One relates specifically to dietary law and the other does not.

Again, the dietary laws pre-dated the ceremonial laws.

Also, Jesus and the disciples all still practiced the dietary laws. The disciples still practiced the OT dietary laws after Christ's crucifixion.

Lastly, the Greek word translated as "clean" in the New Testament was koinos. That does not refer to clean in the dietary sense. It is specifically referring to food that had been dedicated to a pagan god and then sold at market. Jews were told that the meat that was otherwise clean in the dietary sense of the word (not pork, shrimp, etc.) was not made unclean because it had been handled by a gentile.

That was the reason for me pointing out the different meanings of the two words translated as simply "clean."

Nice copy and paste. However, till you supply something even remotely like evidence, it's the same as every other religion. Irrelevant.

the bible is the biggest piece of shit fiction ever written and sold to weak-minded idiots.
The God of the old testament is still the same god in the new. He is guilty of mass murder and promoted genocide, rape, incest, slavery.
Try this one all you 'cherry-pickers'- Genesis 19:30, where as Lot fled Sodom, a place so horrible that God turned his wife into a pillar of salt for merely looking over her shoulder leaving behind her entire life, where he just offered up his two virgin daughters to the people of the town that wanted to rape the 'angels' visiting Lot's family, that they took refuge in a cave where not just once, but two nights in a row, Lot fucked his own daughters. Yeah, great reference on morality.
Floating zoos, talking snakes & donkeys, a flat Earth, an Earth that is the center of the universe where our sun revolves around us...lol. Garbage...all garbage and supernatural witchcraftery!(I made that word up.) Just like all the bullshit stories in the bible.
What you need is a good foundation is basic science, logic and critical thinking.

Sounds to me like Lot fled the town because he knew the townspeople were wanting to have sex with his daughters and he did this to protect them. Just like in todays society, we have alot of sexual deviants like "the gays" and he was doing what every good father should do, protect his family. But that's just one weak minded Christians perspective. Fortunately, lots of morons are able to read and interpret for themselves (even athiests who have their own spin). As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, not the world. My home is not here.

A critic would imply that through only a cursory reading of the text. However, that is not the case.

Matthew 5:17-18 - "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."

Jesus fulfilled the Law.

John 19:28-30 "After this, Jesus, knowing that ALL THINGS were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said,“I thirst!” Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said,“It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit."

One can also switch between the Old Testament and New Testament to determine the covenant of which He speaks:

Jer.31:31    Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Jer.31:32     Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was husband unto them, saith the LORD:

Jer.31:33    But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts (Heb.8:10, Heb10:16); and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jer.31:34    And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me (Heb.8:11 below), from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more (Heb.8:12 below).

Heb.8:10     For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Heb.8:11    And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me (Jer.31:34 above), from the least to the greatest.

Heb.8:12     For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more (Jer.31:34 above).

Matt.26:28    For this is my blood of the new testament (Jer.31:31 above), which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

One must also understand the various categories of law in the time of the Old Testament.

There are universal moral laws, cultural universal laws, and ceremonial laws.

It is clear that the law retains a certain application today, even if not in the same way for us, and even if the critics do not have the tools to grasp it.
