Dictators encourge them but later tell them now this is the way its going to be. Many who support the vfw are old timers wishing for the good old days to return. It is not going to happen because it is in the pits. Donate directly to the wounded warriors and salvation army. I agree the DAV is much much better than the VFW and to a certain degree even the American Legion.
the VFW canteens need closed down for good.

Because in battle it is the hero's blood and guts that allows the REMF's to stand tall in their full dress blues with their yellow scarf's to take center stage to accept medals they didn't deserve.

The Nam vets being denied membership back in the 60's and 70's is still a major VFW sore subject. I don't hold a grudge but to hell with the VFW. They don't identify or represent any service member who encountered a real firefight or ambush. The VFW and REMF's are one in the same. Sorry, but that is the way I feel.

I don't know that you need to apologize to anyone. I guess I would say what part of your complaint isn't true. Answer: No part, its all true. When you carry an 11b10 or 11b20 in the Army you don't have to apologize for a damned thing. If you were in the Nam and carried that MOS your dues are paid.

Yes I know and thanks....If you remember the WWII vets said Nam wasn't a real war so they were denied vfw membership. Then as the greatest generation began to die off they about faced saying come on in and sign up. That is when 90% of the Nam boys told the vfw to go to hell. I assume the old guys thought over 58K being killed wasn't enough compared to the 425K in WWII....Well if Nam didn't quality as a war what would they consider the Gulf, Iraq, and Afgan? If added all together would that be equivilant to one girly food fight?

re-read what I wrote... I said "if" and I repeat "if" .... I didn't mean t imply or say the Gulf, Iraq, or Afgan was a food fight.....

If the WW2 guys said Vietnam wasn't a "war" with 58K being killed... I went of to say "if" they didn't view 58K killed what would the view Gulf, Iraq and Afgan. Based on that assumption would they view these 3 wars (our troops killed) combined as a "food fight"?

I don't believe you are a veteran, member of the vfw or Amer Legion. Never heard or known anyone to express themselves as badly as you. You gave yourself away and anybody whose been in the military knows exactly why. Go back to playing with your toys and look up the word respect.

Of course we Veterans hate to see any Vets Organization go down, but there are times when it is necessary. I think this is one of those times. The VFW and American Legion have been run by guys that have only one thing in mind and it is not the welfare of the Veteran Population. For years these groups have used Veterans as stepping stone. Selling alcohol to too many Veterans that suffer from PTSD. Its called self medication. I know the argument, if they don't get it here they'll get it somewhere else. OK let them get it somewhere else. The guys that run the State Office of VFW have been in power since the 80's. Its time for new management.
