If you are serious about both sides working together to make SMC a better place to work then your devisive comments are misplaced.

I agree with you that we need to pull together to strengthen the work force but I take offense to your generalization that the "union guys need to get off our lazy asses".

Most of our hourly workers are good hard working individuals that make the best of, often times, a difficult work environment. They work in extreme temperatures both hot and cold through out the year. Our work environment is a dangerous one and most handle it as well as can be expected.

As for the maintenance comments, that too is a gross generalization. I happen to be in maintenance and with the exception of a few, I would put our maintenance force up against any in our area. We are asked to keep machinery, that is 40-50 even 60 yrs old, running non-stop with either used parts or no parts in some cases. Our maintence numbers have also been depleted and we are working as short handed as all of production.

Production does not want to give up the machines long enough to fix things properly and for the most
part we do the best job we can with what we have to work with.

The truth is we have a good amount of quality operators that take pride in the work they do. We have an excellent maintenance force overall that depend on our quality operators to assist us in locating problems and describing the problems we are sent there to fix. Yes there are bad apples in production and in maintenance. You're going to have that regardless of where you work.

Salary has the same issues...If you are honest with yourself you will agree that we have some bosses in there that are a valuable source of information and are there to help. There are some that can't manage a grocery list. We have to make the best of what we have.

My point is that we have good and bad on both sides of the fence and in every department. Let's all try and work together to help our brothers and sisters get through this and bring strength to Local 40.... Its up to you and me!!!

Bullshit lets walk!!! They want us to work 80 plus hours aweek for chicken feed. How bout they move stuff around at tax time in huntington to burnaugh so to not have to pay taxes in huntington. Or melt virgin materails into butt heats to call scrap. But the customers pay virgin price for that scrap heat that put into production heat

How bout the stuff they hide on trucks parked outside plant at tax time. Only to let them show back at the plant a couple days after tax audit. They hide them up on route 2 and at kenova.
