I really liked Huntington when I lived there in the late 70's and 1980. Sorry to hear things are not that great.:(
Maybe not enough gay bars there anymore ?
maybe that's why the Real Deal is so unhappy he can't find enough gay bars

West Virginia WAS a Union state ! It was formed in 1863 by the secession of northwest counties (did you know that West Virginia goes farther north than southern New York ?) of The Commonwealth Of Virginia.
After the Wheeling Conventions, West Virginia broke away from Virginia during the American Civil War and was admitted to the Union as a separate state on June 20, 1863. It is one of only two states formed during the American Civil War (along with Nevada, which separated from Utah Territory) and is the only state to form by seceding from a Confederate state.
On May 13, 1862, the state legislature of the reorganized government approved the formation of the new state. An application for admission to the Union was made to Congress, and on December 31, 1862, an enabling act was approved by President Abraham Lincoln admitting West Virginia, to the United States Of America.
It is, and was, and ALWAYS has been a UNION state.
If you Google West Virginia it's part of the union and if you Google Confederate States it is listed as part of the South

It is a result of having leadership without forward thinking. Like Huntington.

Your child would probably be better off without you around. You sit on here and act all high and mighty, but I can tell by your sentence structure and lack of use of punctuation, that you barely graduated high school, if you even made it that far.
Please continue to tell us how great you are, while your baby's momma is out banging another dude and you sit on topix because a tough guy. Congrats, you are a true success story.

Thats one of the problems. Everything that happens in Htown is sloooow. The womenz would have 3 year gestation periods if they didnt need the welfare bucks...
Arrogance is Htown's #1 problem, IMO. Every key move that has occurred is consistent with isolationism. Convenient interstate access which also allows a visual to the city? No. Lest keep Htown cloistered behind the hills and secretive. Share an airport with Chas at the midway point so that it could be twice as big, develop into a mini-hub? No, we have to have our own dinky little one thats losing money and airline routes. Change with the retail trends and have a indoor mall downtown? No, we have to protect a handful of small business owners, all of which eventually went out of business anyway.
Invite new business in? No, lets instead vote out any interest in industries that might create jobs, overly tax and create city fees, employ a non-active police force which drains our budget, give power to landlords, deny tax incentives to business which need to modernize to stay within the region. Protect the interest of Marshall? No, lets instead allow of crime to infiltrate 16th street, Marshall's hub street.
Do anything to elevate the tax-payer-base to help maintain the city's infrastructure, because over 50% of the people wisely moved away? No. lets watch our once nice neighborhoods become drug dens and places for squatters, and dilapidated structures, flooding viaducts. Actuate events and programs to raise interest from outsiders? No, lets only have one small hotel downtown thats worth staying in, let outside developers build Pulman square but allow them to charge exorbitant rents with no security. Provide its own taxi service? No, ours is from Ohio. Allow an abundance of liquor licenses to the 4th avenue corridor but arrest everyone who drives to a bar to get Test& Lock $ for the city. Provide its residents, including Marshall students with viable retail options? No. Lets relegate that to B'Ville.

You are exactly right. The old Jews who had the controlling interest isolated the city away from progress.

I didnt mention race or ethnicities. The main powers that be are not Jewish, BTW.
