Ok, so I just had to join the convo again. I mean really, this is just plain silly at this point. Your at risk of getting a STD anytime you have sex regardless of where. Studies have PROVEN that swinger lifestyles tend to be safer for a couple of reasons and I will list them.
1) Swingers tend to be honest with their spouse and do not often cheat. If you have a swinging lifestyle there is NO need to sneak around and cheat on your spouse with random strangers or hookers.
Since swingers are NOT engaging in these dangers they are LESS likely to have a STD as compared to your blind date, random hook-up, or cheating spouse.
Since swingers are NOT cheating, fewer concerns are had about who they slept with in recent times.
2) Swingers have a higher precentage of getting tests, since they are having sex with other couples, most swingers get monthly tests.(Not saying all swingers do, but MANY do) As compared to a random screw when your wife or hubby is away.
3) Swinging tends to be a VERY close knit lifestyle. Thus someone who is hiding a STD would be quickly caught and banned from most clubs and groups. No one wants that, so most swingers are VERY honest about what they have and do not have. In fact there are GROUPS that have some STDs such as herpes that cater to each other so they are NOT out infecting others. Grouping all people in such a way is like saying all fat people eat cake, or all African Americans like KFC. Not very nice :)
4) The club keeps a ample supply of condoms on hand and is VERY clean. I have been there and played at the club and there is no fluids ANYWHERE....I mean really, do you think stuff is flying, lol how silly.
5) Swingers tend to be VERY clean about themeselves, word spread quick in this lifestyle and if your nasty.......folks don't want to play with nasty.
With that being said yes there is some risk, but hell there is risk anytime you have sex with ANYONE. Sure if your in a marriage with NO cheating then there should be little risk, but thats about as good as it gets folks. If your that worried about a STD then take precautions and be safe.
We have been in the lifestyle for several years now and have never gotten a STD, do not know anyone who has ever gotten a STD and we always practice safe sex and do monthly checks when we are playing. In ALL the time I have been a swinger I have met ONE person who had a STD and they were VERY open and honest about it, letting others know the risk and letting them make up their own minds. Which is nice I think.
Fact is if your that grossed out about it, I suspect you never had any real desire to join the lifestyle to begin with and only wish to bash it more. I mean really, if you had REALLY thought about being a swinger your saying you never thought about a STD..........pleeze either your a liar or just plain stupid.

Swingers have some of the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases.
Swingers have higher sexually transmitted disease rates than prostitutes. The rate of Chlamydia and gonorrhea were just under 5 percent in female prostitutes sampled and 10.4 percent among admitted swingers. Female swingers had higher infection rates than male swingers, probably due to multiple fluid exchanges. About 55 percent of all diagnoses of chlamydia and gonorrhea were identified in admitted swingers, compared to about 31 percent in gay men.
Many swingers, it would seem, are not practicing safe sex. That's suggested by the fact that the chlamydia and gonorrhea rate among female swingers was six times higher than that of prostitutes.
Condoms are somewhat effective in preventing a few infections however they are less effective in preventing infections that are spread through saliva and skin to skin contact, such as human papilloma virus (HPV, linked to genital warts and cervical cancer) and herpes.
There may be a lot more people engaging in this behavior than we are aware of, and they seem to be an at-risk group for STDs.
If you are able to understand the language in numerous medical journals, I suggest you do some research. You are able to find the information online with minimal effort.
Please share where your stastics come from? You seem so sure of yourself.......I am courious. Of course statisics are like bung holes, everyone has one lol. Stastics are just that, something some one SAYS is true. I am not saying that STD's are not out there, but your smokin something crazy claiming rates are higher with swingers then gay lifestyles....good lord now I KNOW you don't work for the Health Department, because:

1) They would have links to back up the garbage they spill and

2) THE CDC has ALWAYS stated STD's are more rampet in the gay community, so what are you telling me you know more then the CDC now? Sounds like your talking out of your other end dear.

Having a large number of sexual partners has been linked to poor sexual health and decreased longevity. Why? The more sexual partners you have, the greater your risk for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) like HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening conditions like prostate cancer, cervical cancer, and oral cancer.

Swinging is one example of a class of high-risk behaviors.

By age 44, the average man has had about seven sexual partners and the average woman has had four. About 33 percent of men and 9 percent of women report having more than 10 sexual partners in their lifetime. Having many more partners than average is considered a sexual health risk.

Don’t believe the myths that you can't get STDs unless you have sexual intercourse or that you can't get them from oral or anal sex. Many viruses and bacteria that cause STDs can enter your bloodstream through tiny cuts in your mouth, anus, or the outer parts of your genitals.

Ha ha...you asked for the statistics from the person posting about diseases, we could certainly ask the same of you. How on EARTH can you state such foolishness as "Swingers tend to be honest with their spouse". lol...how can you make such a broad blanket statement? On what GROUNDS? Y'all just funny in here. Funny and sad.

Swingers are Oh, so careful? Really tight knit? Here's a swinger story 4 u kids.
I used to work in a restaurant. A "married" couple were regular customers, in there several times a week. They ONLY knew me as a server. They knew NOTHING about my private life at ALL. I heard rumors to be careful of them, that the couple were "swingers". All I did was serve food and drinks.
After a couple of months, one night they brought a friend in with them. All evening they were EXTRA friendly to me, tipping extra genrerous. At closing time, they were still there, with their friend. That's when they "popped the question". I felt so gross! They had brought the friend in to "check me out" like I was some sort of piece of meat. It was disgusting! Of course I refused and they never came back...but by my story, can you see what would have happened if I DID go to their place or wherever? They did not know me at all. I could have had anything for all they knew. And I seriously doubt that there intentions were to swing by the clinic and get me a blood test on the way. Swingers are gross and sad, and they DO go out and try to "recruit". It's creepy. They don't just keep it "tight-knit". You cannot tell me that they aren't spreading diseases around. The story I just told is proof that they aren't being safe about their habits.

I wouldnt worry about this. In a few years, they wont be swingers anymore. They will be single parents filing head of household. Swinging is a fad brought on by unhappy people who don't want to leave their partner (due to money, kids, etc), but crave sexual attention that they are not getting, or do not want, from their partner. Its really sad to see someone lack the balls to have a happy life. I feel bad for these people.
