Isn't it considered disturbing the peace when someone has a dog that barks almost nonstop day and night. I don't understand what kind of benefit a dog like that could possibly be. All of the homes in highlawn are close so this is very disturbing to many of us. There are 2 or 3 of these in the same block. No point in calling the police. Couldn't even get them down here when drugs were being sold. People are inconsiderate. Live in the country if u want animals that won't shut up.

One part radiator fluid, one part ground beef, one part rat poison .... so I've heard. Woof woof no more. Pit bulls have been known to partake of the yum yum concoction as well. I'm not suggesting that this should be done, just making the public aware of a permanent solution to a problem.

Why not write a letter to the owner and mail it with no return address, don't be rude....just explain that the dog is barking all the time and its a pain for everyone, they may not even know that you can hear their dog if no one has ever said anything.

I have a small dog, and he is 14 with his age his hearing is going so he barks when he hears someone outside..........even if they are just walking by lol. I hate it if he is bothering anyone, and he does not do it all day or all night, but I am sure someone hears him once in a while, its not a matter of not caring....but the fact is I am not gonna put my dog down because he is old.

A letter explaining the situation would be best, as the owner can take steps to try and keep him/her quite

Have you ever considered befriending one of the dogs, and traveling around in an old van, solving mysteries? You may want to pick up some dog snacks...sometimes it helps you get them to do what you want

i can sympathize with you one hundred percent. but try and find out why the dogs are barking. i live in a neighborhood where animals especially dogs are not taken care of. i am an animal lover to the fullest and many many times selfish inconsiderate human beings get these dogs, tie them up and forget about them and this i a tragedy. many are not fed, watered, no shelter in the blazing hot summer and in the frigid winter. there is a noise ordiance in huntington but this is never enforced. look it up, might help. furthermore, dogs are not allowed to be chained more than 8 hours per day and only if the owner is away, then the law states they must be let to run and exercise. the animal abuse in our town is outrageous. and if you call the humane society they do nothing. but the noise, investigate, find out why the dogs are barking all the time. i did and i found out they were not being fed. barking is their only communication, a happy, well fed, watered, exercised and kept indoors at least at night is a happy dog and they are usually not the culprit.
and why isnt something done about all this bass coming from cars? this has been going on for years now, it shakes my walls. the police dont bother with it. but it is an interruption and annoyance. are taxes keep going up. they need money they say, so why not fine the people who are taking care of the dogs, the animals, the barking, and fine these who are thumping their bass, just riding around, thumping the bass. make money that way, leave the law abiding, quiet, people who care for animals alone.

There is a small yappy dog across the street that barks at every car, person, animal and leaf that it can see. The owner is elderly and isn't firm enough so the dog won't listen to him. Plus he leaves the front door open and the dog is there all the time, barking at leaves and bugs from inside the house. And yes, it can still be heard. When it goes nuts inside he lets it out! We can't sit on our porch or even water our plants without it barking its head off and he does nothing. I suspect he goes and naps and just leaves the effing thing outside. I'm home all day with a baby and should be allowed a LITTLE peace during the day. Between Yappy and the four beagles on the next street the only time it's quiet is at night. I'm very thankful for that!

Boy, you are right about that! For the life of me I can't understand how the owners can STAND IT! Yap yap yap, all day and night, never stopping. What possible purpose do these stupid things serve? The dog is miserable, the owners are clueless and irresponsible, and everyone in the neighborhood suffers. To what possible purpose?

Seriously, those of you with yapping dogs...can just ONE of you explain the thrill of living like that to us normal people?

I wonder if it would do any good to say the animal is being mistreated? Technically, it IS being mis-treated. It obviously wants something, constantly barking and no one pays any attention or does anything. Try reporting them as neglected animals. It's certainly a disturbance of the peace. Ya know, a non-stop barking dog is what set Son of Sam off. It can drive people crazy.
