You could try the YMCA daycare. They have activities planned for each day. And they really care and love the children. I have never seen any favoritism. They love them all. It is a state of the art facility with wonderful staff.
Really...lol... No Please dont take your kids to the Y. My kids were going to the Summer program at the Y. and My 9 year old daughter was beat up by two boys and when I asked about it know one could tell me what happened.. When you walk in their are kids running all over and no one in sight.. I could go on with stories that friends of mine have told.. Its not a safe place 2 kids walked out and were blocks away and a lady driving by picked them up and took them back Thank God she wasn't a Monster and took them babies..

My son attended Enterprise Child Development Center for well over a year & at first I was very pleased but as time went on, things started changing such as new staff being hired in (skanky looking teenagers) & things just going down hill. I have been seeking to find a good day care lately & my son was on the list for Fifth Avenue Baptist but somehow our application was lost?? I would love to take him to Crossroads but that is too far for us. Does anyone know anything about Christ Temple Childcare (not the actual name of it)? We recently visited & so far I am pleased, but if anyone takes their children their or has any info to share, I would greatly appreciate it =)

The two that left the Y daycare are my grandchildren.....just so we keep the story factual, they were 4-5 blocks from the daycare when they were seen by friends of their mother's who happened to be working out at the May Building....those friends ran to detain the children. The children are only 5 and 2 1/2 years old and crossed 2-3 busy city streets. Also, I do not believe anyone at the daycare ever knew they were missing. They no longer attend daycare at the YMCA.

I'm not sure how it is now, but I worked there for about a month while I was in college. They do have a different director now, and maybe things are better, but I would not have recommended it then. If you want a good, quality Day Care, try Crossroads, Fifth Ave. Baptist or Eastwood Learning Center. If you are looking for a Day Care that accepts LINK, try Pea Ridge Day Care.
Omg pea ridge daycare is awful!!! Run from that place. And the director mrs Ruth horrible !!!!!

We had our son at Crossroads until he turned 2, We moved so we moved him to FABCare. After a month we had him back on the waiting list for Crossroads. We have not been happy with the lack of communication (for accidents - i would imagine if it required a band-aid then it was serious enough for an accident report), the numerous times we have picked him up with a full diaper, inexperience of student volunteers who work with the kids over the summer, and general lack of communication with his teachers about how he is progressing. I'm not saying its a terrible terrible place, he has learned his numbers and letters and various other things but when we compare it to Crossroads, we feel that Crossroads is better suited to meet his / our childcare needs.
And I will completely concur on the awfulness of Pea Ridge daycare, we toured it before our son was born and could not fathom sending our baby there!

Just so huntington forum knows, kayla blankenship and her family are strung out pill heads. The grandmaw actually found a basketball and was so pilled out she thought it was a child. Simple wayne county misunderstanding
i have no clue who you are , but i will tell you and anyone that i do not do pills, nor does my family, youre probably the person that let that poor child out of playmates, or you work there, whatever your problem is, you do NOT have a right to talk about my family, or myself the way you did, its ignorant, so i dont want to hear that you "think" i do this and that because i guarentee that you have never met me a day in your life, so just mind your own business, and keep your behind out of mine!

I had my child in Pea Ridge Daycare and it was okay in the brown building for 3 year olds but once she got switched to white building. YUCK!! It smells terrible...my little girl hated it there and she loves school. The teachers were rude as well.
I took her out of that school without notice...I was new the area and didn't know any better.

Now Eastwood Learning Center is awesome. My little girl has been there for over 2 years and its great. Clean and the teachers care for your child and teach them at there own pace. I am 100% happy with Eastwood I think you will be too.

Can someone give me an idea of rates that I will be paying for a 6 week old? Unfortunately I will have to put my baby in a daycare when she is born. I work in Charleston and my husband works in Huntington and we live in Ona so location doesnt matter between Chas and Hunt as long as its a good daycare. Also, does anyone know of any daycares that will allow you to do part time? Thanks so much!

Dear "actually" it's not restraining if your child is sitting in a damn high chair. You don't sit your kid in a highchair to eat? You obviously aren't familiar with West Virginia Rules and Regulations so read up before you over react. If you don't use such harsh words you won't feel so harshly about the situation. Try to understand the scenario and the health concerns before you dramatize something that is for your own childs good. I would much prefer my child sit in a highchair or crib away from other children while they have a pacifier so the other kids don't get it instead of letting them crawl around and let it get germs from god only knows what. You need to wake up if you don't feel the same.

I agree with you. People need to realize a daycare setting is not a home setting because there are other children in attendance. This means if a child is left roaming with a pacifier in its mouth, other children can take it and use it. I would prefer my child sit in a high chair with its pacifier as well.

The best thing to do is drop in and see these places for yourself.
The YMCA is a little rowdy and unorganized. My son went there. The kids definitely run the place and most of the staff is very young. I took my school age son out after he was hit in the face by another child on two separate occasions and the staff acted like it was no big deal.
I would highly recommend Enterprise, I have had my youngest there for three years. It is very clean, the teachers are all very mature and have been there for a long time. We have never had any problems there!

Idk where u live or if u receive link. I'm not sure how u feel about a home provider but I must tell u about the lady who takes care of my baby girls! She has watched them for almost four years now. I work in the evenings and it's very hard to find someone u can trust to watch your kids. They went to playmates in ceredo and it was awful they would keep them in the Evenings but didn't really take care of them. They only went there for about two weeks. Then I found Bonnie Thomas!!! She is a Christian lady and absolutely amazing with the kids!! My girls call her nana!! She has been taking care of kids for 25 years or so!! She actually watched a girl I went to school with when she was little lol!! I'm not sure if she has any openings in the morning but I would def give her a chance I m so glad I did she is amazing!!!!!!!!!!

Infants are usually around $125 -$145 per week.

Do not go to Fifth Avenue Baptist (FAB Care). I worked there several years. They lie to keep parents happy. Most people employed are young college students that could care less. They sit on their cell phones the whole time. 90% of the time the stupid director sits on hers too. Or goes and buys cars and boats on the clock. She isn't even qualified to be a director! At one time that day are was fabulous but now that Karen is the director, it's horrible!!!! Please, please do not go there!!!!!!!

DO NOT TAKE THEM TO KIWANIS IN HUNTINGTON!!!! They restrained my son (13 months old) in a high chair for over an hour (because that was how long it took it him to give up his pacifier)... whenever i had documentation from his dr to not take it away because of security from where we just had another baby... and that was directly from the directors (Patty) mouth!!!
Glad this is out there!!!

I had my child at Children's Place, and they had to pull him from arms every day when I dropped him off. I moved him to Marshall's Child Development Academy and have not had one problem. The staff care about kids, they learn and have fun there.
