- Get old money out of politics, there's a handful of greedy bastards who sold this town out to line their pockets and continue to do so.
- Hold landlords accountable for: renting to mobsters, rate caps, maintaining their units as well as the facade, obey tenant landlord covenants. Pullman square should be owned/managed by the city, not outsiders.
- Pullman Plaza hotel is a total piece of crap which should be torn down and new one put its in place.
- Convince the state to lower the drinking age to 18, the bar business should be able to cater to Htowns largest demographic.
- Hold corrupt magistrates and cops accountable. Threaten them with pension removal. Break up the cops union, it does far more harm than good.
Salaries and pensions drain 70% of the city budget and for what? You are 10 times more likely to be arrested for a DUI than be arrested for dealing drugs.
- Invite new business, specifically retail back to downtown. Its inane to drive to Bville, a town of 4k people for everything, to see that town get all the revenue. Retail should also address the needs of the MU students as their is NO shopping for them at all downtown.
- If you are going to usher in interstate traffic into the town via 16th street
then clean it up. First impressions are KEY.
- Develop Harris River Front park to be something other than a place where birds poop and the seamier side of society hang.
- Modernize either the Keith or the Big Sandy to make it a place where people want to go and concert promoters want to book.
- Do away with the parking meter scandal. Ticketing people we need for business with fake parking tickets is not welcoming.
- Upgrade drain system in viaducts. A single rain storm should never cripple a city.
- Eliminate the B&O Tax
- Have all abandoned properties either destroyed or auctioned with the mandated/enforced provision they must be renovated.

Eliminate the user fee. Remove the 1% city tax. Remove the parking meters.

Revenue would increase from more businesses, residents spending money in town.

Get serious about the meth, heroin and crack problems instead of acting like it's not here. Shut down the known whore houses everybody turns their heads to.

More fees and taxes aren't the answer mayor Steve.

Hire Nancy Cartmill as a consultant and get her help.

Really, I'm not a huge fan of Nancy; but she was an excellent Mayor of our town. Just wish she would wake-up and do the same as County Commissioner.

Oh and before you ask what Nancy did to make her so great - she didn't do anything. That was her secret to success - SHE DID NOTHING!

What she did do was bring people together, work with them, and not try and act like the smartest person in the room. As Mayor, she got out of the way and let the City grow. She surrounded herself with smart people, and listened to them.

Mayor Fancy Suit, all he wants to do is surround himself with yes men and politicians. Sort of reminds me of that fairy tale of the Emperor not having any clothes.

try to bring new business in and go and knock on every door and listen to the peoples ideas. Leave card and make it known that any suggestions are welcome by the citizens. The mayor is elected by the people therefore the mayor should be a mouthpiece for the people

Huntington was, like so many cities, unprepared for the changes brought on by loss of manufacturing within the city and the area. Constant squabbling over what to do has kept us from recovering more quickly.

The insistence of the people in thinking we can recreate the Huntington of the 1950's and 1960's caused the MOST damage to the recovery of the City.

We have invested far less than we needed and are even now reluctant to take any ownership in where we go from here, we just keep saying no, no, no.

And we wonder why it never seems to change.

I would declare martial law and have each residence inspected for drugs, missing persons, and other contraband.

All known drug dealers/gang members would be rounded up and sent to Federal prisons.

A limit on how many children jobless women can have would be imposed.

I would declare it a dry town with a stipulation that only government workers and their families can buy alcohol and also drink within the city limits. If you are not a government employee or family member of a government worker, consuming alcohol in the city would be a felony.

Those are just a few ideas.
