I am not a WVU fan either. I am in this week visiting relatives and traveled to see the herd play my sons team on Saturday. Congrats you guys whipped us and we stink but your fans are downright rude. Snide remarks before, during and after the game - way to keep it classy. Bunch of drunks in the parking lot was really impressive also. Btw, this is an honest statement, your area had the most obese concentration of people I have ever seen at once.
Yeah, Huntington is not the apex of class for sure, but to be fair, next to what goes on in a WVU game, Herd fans are saints. And yep, Htown is the town of the morbidly obese, and its even worse when you go to a grocery store or a fast food restaurant.

Marshall probably does have less fans than WVU.... Our fans actually graduated from the school they root for. Anyone with three teeth and a flying WV shirt from Walmart can be a MOUNTAINEER!!!

Its just a game. This town acts like football means something...it doesnt. Its just a bunch of meatheads trying to "penetrate" each others "end zone"...

Sadly, it isnt just a game. "Game" as a handle we put on an activity is no different than any other in terms of its societal and financial relevance. Just because some might deem it as just a game, in actuality that merely denotes an emotional response ( and opinion within ) to its relevance of impact.
Activities do not care what we call them, only what our involvement of them are is at relevance.
If it werent for football and other sports, the rest of Huntington would most likely be more of a ghost town than it already is. Football is a profession, maybe not to ALL who participate at a college level, but coaches get paid, stadiums get built, advertising, ticketing, concessions, taxes, uniforms, referees, parking, printing, utilities, doctors, training facilities, scouting, equipment, trucking, cartage, sports journalism, tailgating, sponsorships, media ( print, TV, Radio, web), catering, transportation, photography, half-time entertainment, commentating, etc. The realm of sports reaches deep into the community on many levels. No, it isnt just a game.

No goods are produced, no services are rendered. Its just pure entertainment for the masses....the fact that people make it a central part of their lives means nothing, its still a game.

Doesnt matter anyway. Liberals are trying to ban it....

What do you mean no goods or services? Thats the dumbest thing I have read in here in a while ( and thats saying something) Football is job/career for hundreds of thousands at both college and pro levels. Last I checked, careers ARE a central part of most people's lives. The list of items that sport causes to be created or prepared is endless, be it a coffee mug, concessions, or field-goal posts. Just because YOU deem it to be merely a game, in actuality doesn't make it so.

It's a multi billion dollar industry. Is the movie industry illegitimate because the product is a two hour story? Value is where people place it and a lot of money goes into football.
And dont forget cheerleading sugar britches.

MU is the preferred homecoming opponent for other schools now. We are an easy win for 85% of college teams now. How far we have fallen.
