I have to agree... If you are still having pain that can't be controlled by over the counter pain reliever then you need to go back to the doctor for it to be evaluated. Just an FYI about prescription grade narcotic pain medication... A person can become addicted immediately. One doesn't have to be taking a extremely strong narcotic to become addicted. By no means am I saying that you are addicted I am simply saying two things... 1.) it sounds like you need to get your toe looked at again if you're still having problems. And 2.)a person doesn't have to be taking an extremely strong narcotic to become addicted to it. Everyone's chemical make up and tolerance to medication is different. If it were me I would make an appointment to see my doctor.
Agreed wrote:
I wasn't meaning to suggest that you are an addicted. However those pills are highly addictive. Narcotics are highly addictive. Working in a Pain Management office and seeing all the people coming in addicted from legitimate reasons. Many from surgeries and broken bones, car wrecks or whatever. Once they start that it is one fake injury after another. It is not worth it for a broken toe. If it hurts that bad call the Doctor and make an appointment. Suck up the pain for a couple of Days.

The way our vets are treated is an embarrassment! I can not EVEN imagine the things you have seen and done. You risk your life so that the rest of us can have the things most people take for granted! It's ridiculous that we have to pay for people who don't want to work and just keep pooping out babies so they can get a check but we can't take care of the men and women that go to war, risking their lives, to make sure we are safe and free!

To all the sociopaths that do not understand what it is to live in pain. Do you know that 14 Combat veterans are committing suicide each day? You are the same one's that refer to me and my brothers as heroes and thank us for serving our nation. Well let me fill you all in on the reality of the situation. There are injuries that cannot be repaired and you have to live with them the rest of your life. Imagine having an abscess tooth everyday for the rest of your life and you are told by every doctor you see that the tooth cannot be extracted and you will just have to live with the pain. Many of my fellow veterans that have had limbs blown off, back injuries, head injuries etc. are in constant pain and have told me that they no longer want to live because they can't deal with the pain. Now, what do we tell them, SUCK IT UP? You hypocrites that thank us for serving our nation don't realize that doctors in the Veterans Administration are now afraid to prescribe pain meds for fear of losing their medical license. Have I gotten through to any of you yet? Don't ever thank myself or any of my brothers who served again until you understand what is happening out in the real world. Get out from behind your computers and go visit a combat vet in a VA hospital, then, you will know true learning will begin.

So here is my story. I had my pain medication refill in hand scheduled for 12/20/13. Ran out of my script onn the 19th and was in a lot of pain so I ventured out at 12am on the 20th to get it filled. Got to my CVS and they were out of my medications so I headed over to Walgreens (which I can't stand) and the pharmacist was very nasty and told me they can't fill it til 8am that day. CVS will always fill it right at midnight the date it is written for. What I can't figure out is if you leave a hospital at 12am Walgreens will fill the script so why not a pre written script. CVS never has a problem. If it is 12:01am isn't that the same thing as 8am. What is thpe deal with Walgreens. On top of everything the pharmacist says it looks like a forged script. Where do they get the nerve? So I had to wait til 8 that morning and went to another cvs abd got it filled with no problem. Any input about Walgreens BS would be appreciateated.

WV Pharm. Board monitors what Drs prescribe and what pt. takes. Pain can be defined as acute or chronic. An acute injury warrants one prescription narcotic. A chronic condition such as terminal cancer warrants refills. Pretty sure your employer would not want you taking narcotics and working for them. Most would tell you not to come in if your taking narcotics. Take an NSAID like Alleve thru the day and your narcotic in the evening after work. If it is still unbearable after 14 days then walk or limp in to Marshall orthopedics at 8 am and have them radiograph your toe to see if it is something more extensive

Walgreens is like that because of a $80 million fine from the DEA. Walgreens pharmacies in Florida were dispensing massive quantities of oxycodone prescribed by "candy docs". All Walgreens pharmacies now employ a "good faith dispensing" policy to ensure that narcotic prescriptions, especially schedule-II medications, are being prescribed for a legitimate medical purpose. In short, to avoid a hassle, don't use Walgreens to fill sched-II narcotics.

It is completely up to the pharmacist on duty and their discretion as to whether they will fill your rx or not. There is really not much you can do.

Right on. Pot is legalized in Colorado but getting a pharmaceutical pain killer is impossible with some docs . Who's the idiot who mentioned it should only be used short term? There are chronic conditions that are brutally painful. How dare somebody judge or rate another person's pain!

Good for the Dr!!! If you're in that much pain, get enrolled in a Pain Clinic @ CHH or SMMC, where the Dr can monitor your pain & meds.
I have cancer and my Dr refuses pain meds and your complaining about your toe

I'm not an addict, I don't believe in all that. I have had back trouble for years. I've done any test they wanted me to do. All showed multiple problems from arthritis to narrowing spine. One Pain place only gave me a two Lort-7, wanted to put a electric device under my skin-permanent, they did steriod inj. which didn't help. Now at a other Pain C. which has done more test, all confirming the problems, have done the injections multiple times, still just 3 Lort-5 is all I get. Pain is where you can't have a good quality of life. All they do is injections, etc., to make big money, complain about smoking cigarettes-quit and pain will stop, lol. BS, my grandmother's never smoked & had pain. Need better docs, decent med, as long as the test & follow rules they shouldn't get in trouble.

Haha...unfortunately that's been true recently. I went through most my life not breaking anything but it's happened a couple times the past few years
First...and just for future reference...U need to establish a relationship with ONE doctor. One dr to take care of you and your family. These walk in clinics are crap. Your family dr gets to know you and will know that you are not a pill - seeker and if he or she has ANY balls you get treated when you need it. Don't expect a stranger 2 believe you. You can thank all the pill freaks for that. Second...If you know any pill-heads ask them. Finally, your best bet is to just go to the liquor store. Pitiful isn't it? Sorry Bud. Good luck.

You make me sick! You are a low life scum of the earth! You are the reason that legitimate people with chronic illnesses can't get their medication! My pain meds helped me continue living life as normal as possible. Now I have half of a life and am in constant pain.

For you smart asses telling people to suck it up...You need to shut up! I voluntarily went to pain clinics and pain management. All that did was help me to learn to hide my pain better from others. I never even took my medication as often as prescribed...YOU ONLY GET HOOKED IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO GET HIGH! I ABSOLUTELY HATE DRUG ADDICTS! Because of your dumb asses the rest of us have to suffer! Funny thing is a lot of you working in the medical field...including doctors and nurses are pill popping addicts and I know this for a fact. You all make me sick!!

Wow. You are one of the reasons legit people can't get their pain meds. I have RSD / CRPS and it's extremely painful, I need pain meds to make it through the day or I have no quality of life. They help me keep my job, and keep me away from being disabled at such a young age. But you can go and keep pretending that there is something wrong with you, maybe someday we will hear that you cleaned your act up and checked yourself into rehab, you need help. You make me sick to my stomach. I hope to God that karma doesn't turn around to bit you in the Ass someday. A day where you may actually need them, then you will be in the same boat as i, and won't thay be fun. So go ahead a flaunt that you are a drug addict or drug seeker. It will catch up to you ..all in due time.
