Booth Goodwin is running for governor. This is why Skip Holbrook is so far up his a$$. Skip wants out of the police department so bad he will do anything to get out. I mean anything.

Of course he is. Why do you think he's been doing all those high profile cases in southern WV? Wait til the election gets closer and you'll see UBB prosecutions heating up.

I talked to Hank Dial all the time. He told me that Skip was trying to get another job with the a federal agency and that he was going to be the next chief.

Dial will be working for Rohrig if Holbrook leaves. Think about it, Rohrig is the only one on the Mayor's transition team that hasn't been repaid with a job. They just delayed the police chief transition until Holbrook could solidify his Fed job.
Rohrig is the next Eastham.

Great. Anyone who uncovers so much corruption as so far in Mingo county has my vote. Hopefully he will move on to Logan County and Boone County. Governor Goodwin sounds real good to me...

You may be right Clyde. Dial will probably eat Rohrig's lunch in a fight for Chief; literally, he will probably eat his lunch. And dessert.....

Hank will be the next Chief. He already is running 75 percent of the department now.

I don't have those numbers in front of me but I am guessing patrol, detective, drug enforcement, drugs, special emphasis, etc. make up more than 75% of the department (at least I hope). Dial doesn't run any of those as he is a support guy and a "talker" guy.
I doubt they would even let him work those jobs since he shot himself.(and would probably drop dead of a heart attack if he got out of the car).
Maybe you are oonfused and he is consuming 75% of the calories in the department.

If it is true, could be a good thing.... Remains to be seen. The CHH / SMMC thing will be a high profile test of his abilities from an investigative perspective; his thoroughness; his integrity; his egalitarianism (Big Business, or Common Man/fairness/justice/consumer protection, etc); his acumen for seeing "the big picture"; his expertise in dealing with the national media; and his "street smarts" in how to evaluate and react to the current public temperament re: the healthcare arena today. His timing couldn't be better if he finds the right advisers and strategists to capitalize on what Max has already laid the ground-work for . Great opportunity to show his ability to "finesse ".

Goodwin for Governor, No. Goodwin for U.S. Senator from West Virginia. If not, you are looking at Earl Ray.

My gut feeling tells me he could go far-----but he has to recognize which way the wind is starting to blow. The lower middle class, the middle class, and the upper middle class; are all now represented by folks who have "moved down a rung on the ladder" some time in the past twenty years, or so, and none of them are happy about it. The vote getters in the near term (next 15 yrs), will be those who represent these groups and demographics------and who are not viewed as aligned with the wealthy, or even the PERCEIVED UPPER CLASS. For the near term, politics is going to be about who is seen with the ability to close, or at least narrow, the class-gap. "The Class Wars" is a very real thing, and the momentum has already begun a slow, but nationally-broad roll that will not be stopped until "the wealth is shared". If this natural, "swing of the pendulum" isn't allowed to evolve in our society as a pressure-valve, then everyone will lose, including the very, very wealthy and "elite". It is, like it or not, a necessary social evolution, or, to paraphrase Ronald Reagan "all boats will hit bottom with a lowering tide". We are all too interdependent in our economy these days, to continue to support fiefdoms, while the peasants' children starve. It will not be allowed. This country was conceived in Revolution. It's demise could also ride on that kind of momentum and deconstruction.
Politicians who abandon empty rhetoric, and bravely take decisive actions restoring Power to The People-type of Democracy this country was founded on; are those who are about to thrive, and just in the nick of time. Party affiliations, be damned, WE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF IT, AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE.!
