The main or most important part to this thread is my question about the taper and how to go about it. If you don't have time or simply do not want to get into any details and do not feel you need any of that to answer my question on a safe, successful detox that doesn't leave me unable to function due to withdrawals then the post listed under the name "Question Post" includes my ACTUAL question but I included the other posts for those interested with details or for those who feel they can more accurately answer my question when given details.

Thanks again!!
Start off few mg per week. Wait a week then maybe 5mg. Let your body process the changes. You do not have to do a certain amt. you follow your body/mind. I was at 120 took 5mths to reach 60 and so forth. There is no "set" detox plan. It's very individual.

I kicked all on my own almost 3 years ago and haven't used since. Here's my best advice - don't go too slow on the taper - it leaves too much room to backslide. I did mine in 8 weeks using the following ratios (assuming 100 is a full day's current dosage): 1st week = 90, 2nd = 75, 3rd = 60, 4th = 40, 5th = 25, 6th = 15, 7th = 10, 8th = 5, 9th through forever = 0!

I also did some additional stuff, such as frequent exercise (mostly walking in the beginning, but have progressed to 4 days per week of real workouts). I also used a vitamin/supplement regimen known as Thomas' Recipe - google this; it is very helpful, and supplemented it with 5-htp to help my brain learn to make its own seratonin.

Power to you, my friend. Whatever path you choose, stay on it and you'll be fine. There will be times when you think you won't, but you can trust that it will all work out and eventually you'll get your pre-addiction life back.

Why not ask the people at the clinic

I wouldn't listen to DONT PANIC because he/she doesn't seem to know much about it, and the clinic is for making money. Oh they can help you alright anymore but when they first opened the avg person on the street did know more than they did. Anyhow I was just trying to help and I was on it for over 10 years. Its common sense to go down slowly because it gets into your bones and all, oh sure people can and have gotten off the hard way I mean people go to jail every day. But do what you want but don't listen to the "real experts" you know the ones who have never been there at all. Kinda like the people that make the laws about it and other stuff. Kinda like having Dianne Feinstein writing our gun laws, a little old lady that has never shot, held or owned one. Her claim to the gun world is she walked in Harvey Milk's office years ago in San Fran and found him shot to death. So she has seen a dead person therefore she is an expert on weapons and tactics.

<quoted text>That's what makes this so dag gone hard! Everyone is different! I talk to ten different people that have gotten off it and they all did it different ways, at different paces, and experienced different levels of withdrawal. Where I am pretty much on my own and doing my own taper I don't want to screw anything up so it makes it hard because the fear of screwing up sometimes almost matches my level of determination to quit. But, then I think of what a hassle it is, how much it cost each month, the damage it is doing to my body, just all the negative things and remember I can do this! Thanks for your response and good luck on your own detox! Sounds like you are well on your way!
You have to do what's good for you. The cost is absurd plus ur on ur knees to the clinic. I'm a "take-homer" so I have to be careful & follow "their" rules. I know ur fear, it's the same as mine but do what you can to get standing on ur ur feet. I'm honestly to the point that I could walk away but it's hard when u've be conditioned to their way plus wv law has changed and going back isn't so easy.
