"From 2001 to 2012, nearly 165,000 patients were treated at the Beckley VA and more than 250,000 prescriptions were issued, according to the report.

In 2001, 13,865 patients were treated and 4,743 prescriptions were issued. With 60 fewer patients in 2012, there were 27,242 prescriptions.

There were never more than 14,450 patients treated by the Beckley VA during that period. Prescriptions peaked in 2011 at 28,524."

Excuse me, I think that is what is called addiction.

Excuse me , L.L., I do not know if you are referring to pain scripts or not , it is not specified here , but it seems that every time I go to the VA they add to the meds that I am already on.

Just recently they added a higher dosage for diabetes and yet another pill to help control my epilepsy.

There is definitely a problem in the VA. They seem to find something else wrong with you every time you go and never seem to take any prescription away at all regardless if you no longer have the problem or not.

I have discovered that if you move from one area to another and go to a different VA they change all your drugs to their preference. They warn you about quitting your drugs quickly but seem to force you into doing just that. Your system becomes so messed up because of that it actually hurts more than it helps.

I am not surprised that they prescribe more painkillers that are really called for. They prescribe more of every thing that is called for.

Big shocker dumbasses. We have veterans who were blown apart in needless wars. Guess they shouldn't get pain meds for their missing limbs.

They're a lot like regular Doctors and our entire society at large...Got a problem, take a pill...Take that one for awhile, and then take one to counteract that one...Want to stop taking pills?

We've got some more pills to help someone stop taking pills...They throw pills around like there are MILLIONS upon millions of them coming down the pipeline from Drug companies.

That's because there are millions of them.
I know one guy who had a wisdom tooth removed..Yep, OXYCODONE...A woman has a baby?...OXYCODONE....NO matter what "ails" you, they can fix it at the drug counter.

Yes, it is addiction on the doctots part. Doctors love to prescribe meds because they get money from the drug companies in return.
(Ever been waiting to see the Dr. in a crowded room, and see a salesman go right in without waiting?)
