Nothing is wrong with my car as far as I can tell, but I've heard many places like to find as much wrong with it as possible on inspections. Does anyone know a good and honest place that isn't a predatory inspection sticker money hog?...

look i inspect cars everyday but sunday....has nothing to do with being honest....either your car will pass or not....no inspection station will let the smal things go like tires that are work on the edges or if your breaks shoes are over worn OR if your emergency break doesn't function..like i said has nothing to do with being honest..the inspection stations are only folowing the guide lines set by the division of highways....if there is anything wrong with your car it's not safe....doesn't mater if you think it's not that important or nit...it's a safety concern...if a station lets a car pass that doesn't pass go and the highway patrol spots inspects your car and it fails then the station that did the inspection wil be fined and there liscences suspended....or worse revoked......so for me personaly it's not worth saving you a few $$$.....at the station i work at if your car doesn't pass you get a rejection sticker....at trust me that's far worse that paying the few extra bucks to make sure it's right....hope this helps ya :)

A lot of places will take advantage of people when it comes to inspections. Have a friend or family member who is good with cars go over it first. It's not that hard. Brakes, tires, lights, ball joints, steering linkage, exhaust, wipers, glass... these and a few other things are what they look at. All of them can be inspected in your driveway with a jack and some basic tools.

Get the sticker because you have to. Have someone you trust check your vehicle out occasionally because it's safer to drive and it will save you a LOT of $ when you catch problems early.

Never in my life have I been "spot inspected," and I've driven a lot of years.

Don't take your car to chain shops, just take it to your regular neighborhood mechanic. I took mine for an inspection at a local name brand tire shop, and was told my car needed over $1200 in brakes and tires. I took it the same day to the usual mechanic I use and they laughed, because they had rotated the tires and changes the brakes less than 6 months prior. Some shops will exaggerate or downright lie about the safety guidelines and your car's compliance just to make a buck.

I had a bad experiance with the sears in barboursville. I have had good experiance with Rob at the small garage in shoals on 75 and loudermilks on 60.
