The government just wants to ban the Pit Bull breed because they were unsuccessful banning others. Like the German shepherd the Rottweiler and the Doberman. I have owned many pits, and Just like ANY other animal, they have the potential to hurt a human. Most animals are aggressive because of fear, and it would make sense to assume that at least 70% of Pit Bull "attacks" were done by dogs that had been abused and one point or another. And just think biting is one of the few ways a dog has to defend himself. And the news and media always leave out a portion of the truth. Don't condemn the breed just because of a few accidents. You do not and never will know the circumstances, and probably never will.
A few accidents?

In the 8-year period from 2005 to 2012, two dog breeds accounted for 73% of the attacks that resulted in death: pit bulls and rottweilers. http://www.dogsbite.org/dog-bite-statistics-f...

Dogs are animals, pit bulls are animals. Animals act off of instinct if they feel as if they are being threatened they are gonna attack and that also goes for any other breed of dog. Yes you hear a lot of bad things on the news about bullies but most of the time you only get half of the story or only the part they want you to hear. I have a pit bull that is the most amazing and smart dog I have ever owned. He has never been violent with anyone.. At all! I have 2 small children that play with him daily and try to ride him like a horse, he has never tried to hurt my children. People can say all they want about "dog breeds" but what it comes down to is the animal and their temperament with people and other animals. You can't blame an animal for a humans stupidity.

Amen!!! Someone who actually understands!!! Regardless of the breed it's an animal, any animal is capable of injuring or killing a human. We take the risk daily. A Golden retriever could turn just as fast as a Pitt can if feeling threatened!! And horses have killed people, were not trying to ban them, what about those huge snakes that have killed a few toddlers over the years?! Or the cats that sneak into an infants crib and smother them? I don't see you condemning them!!! The Pitt has more news attention because they're the most popular in dog fights!!! How do you know that the other half of the "stories" you see and hear on the news is that that dogs owner is training him to rip out other dogs throats?! How in God's name do you expect the animal to behave, when that's MORE THAN LIKLEY what he was being taught!!!! SMFH get your head out of you asses and use your brains, it's probably the HUMANS not the DOG!!!!!

Dalmatians, German Shepherds, Dobermans have all had the same problem in the past. All dogs that surged in popularity and were viewed as a public nuisance when bites happen. The unfortunate thing about pits is the fighting as it adds an extra dimension to how the general public views them. Just like any dog it does depend on how they're raised, trained and socialized. Since they are so popular more people who have no idea what they're doing have them.

Please show proof of ONE child ever being smothered by a cat. "Sucking a baby's breath". LOL. That is such an old superstition I honestly haven't heard anyone mention since my great grandma died.

Fact is, cats have been used as an excuse for a baby dying of SIDS, abuse, drug overdose (too much "sleepy" medicine) as a way for neglectful trash to try to push the blame away from themselves. Nowadays, how often do you see news items about babies that "fall" or "roll off a couch" and wind up with multiple fractures, brain damage, etc. because someone shook them or slammed them for crying?
Same thing, only you can't blame a cat for that.

It is true that some cats want to be near or on a baby for the simple fact that they are warm. Cats like warm. But no cat ever SNUCK in a crib with murder on their mind. If you believe that, then you really don't know much about animals and their instincts after all. Enjoy your pitbulls. Wear them like the proud meth-making trash badge they are.

No one said they had MURDER on their minds. It's seems as though you focused on one point of my comment. And the superstition is STEALING not sucking so if you're going to talk trash at least get it right lol. And actually it has happened more than you think. The final sentence in your reply shows how small minded you are.:) the whole point in my comment is they're animals and have instincts and to have a dog means you have to know more than feeding and giving them water. I've bread dogs for years including Pitts, so I do know what I'm talking about. Thanks :)

And if you associate an animal with making Meth you're an idiot. People have pit bulls to make them look "bad ass" and that is precisely why so many bites and deaths have occurred because people view them as an accessory to help their reputation. Which in itself is idiotic. You need to know a dog's temperament and what they need to avoid situations where people can get hurt. Yes, sometimes dogs just turn, but that's true for any breed not just the Pitt bull.

I have a jack russell terrior that will eat your butt alive, & what about all the ankle biter dogs, little dogs are the worst!!!

A dog acts the way its raised, idiots, if its raised to be mean it will be mean, if a dig is mistreated of course its gona be mean!!!! So stop nlaming it on the poor dogs & blame it on the people raising them.... I have a pit bull & i have 2 small kids the dog plays with them & chases them.... My mom has a pit bull most loveable dog shes ever had & she hates dogs!!!!

Quit stereo typing, thats whats wrong with this world, theres alot of the that you pit bull haters like that i would probably disagree with...... Who cares if you like them or not, their still around & their such a popular breed you can barely find them.....

You did say (and I quote) "sneaking in and smothering them". Writing it that way means that you believe the cat had INTENT to kill. Animals are not capable of murder, only killing. And "Sucking a baby's breath" IS the expression my great grandma (and others of that long ago generation) used. It's still an idiotic thing to believe, and I'm really surprised that you said it. I thought all those people were dead, mainly of smallpox.

You obviously don't read nor have you ever heard really old people talk. That IS the phrase. Look it up. And I'm so glad you are an expert on "breading" pitbulls.(I let that slide the first time, stupid). Tell me, when you bread them, do you prefer panko or Italian crumbs, or do you just buy a big ol'box of fish fry breading and have at it?

At least you've found a novel use for them. Here I thought all you pitbull advocates just liked those big swinging balls in your face while you watch tv.

The statistics show nothing, except for people like you who know nothing about the breed or how great of a companion they can make. If you look at the whole picture of dog attacks from all breeds they are not dangerous when properly raised like any dog should be. The wrong people get their hands on them and other certain breeds to fight them which can make any breed of dog violent being raised and put in a situation like that. I have a pit bull who is the most gentle, kind loving dog I have ever seen in my life!! He was raised in a loving home around children and has NEVER once snapped at anyone including my young child and nephew!! He also has NEVER snapped at another dog or animal for that fact. People who actually get to "know" the real breed would get to see first hand what kind of loving well behaved family dog they can be if properly raised as any dog should be. And FYI I was bitten by a dog in my early teens and guess what kind of dog it was, not a pit bull but A LAB RETRIEVER (which is suppose to be one of the best temperamental dogs to own). So as you can see it's not the breed but the way ANY dog is raised of how it will behave socially. Thank You and Have a Great Day. P.S. to the guy with the puppies, hope you find them a great home!!
Yeah. Most people say statistics back them up without knowing the statistics. They also believe the myths about jaws locking, brains swelling, etc.... When really it's just what they've heard from other morons.

Will you give it a rest you know it all?! I'm sure that the poster didn't mean to say breading my auto correct corrects breeding to that too asshole. And you just need to go some where with you self ritcheous attitude. The poster was making valid points, and I actually saw a show on animal planet that featured a segment few months ago about cats smothering babies. And if you've ever owned a cat they are very sneaky animals!!!!! I've watched mine SNEAK into places she knows she's not supposed to be, so give me a break. And my great great grandmother referred to it as stealing as we'll. it's all in where you're raised. So get over yourself. Please and thank you. You sound just like the owner of this dog:

http://www.wsaz.com/news/headlines/8-Year-Old...

Also, I like how you give just a couple of your own personal experiences and follow it with a statement like "so as you can see" as if you've solved a riddle. I don't care about what you have seen. The proof is in the statistics, which show pit bulls have a higher tendency to attack than other breeds, and their owners have a higher likelihood of being pieces of shit.
