It's so disappointing to go to Colonial Lanes these days. Why don't the owners care to do what needs to be done to make the necessary improvements. All anyone does is complain about that place, how could they not know? What once was an iconic upscale restaurant and entertainment facility is now a dirty run down, not cared about dive. For starters the building and lanes and bar are all run down. Lanes that consistently break down and not properly fixed, bathrooms that are disgusting and never are clean. They can't even keep light bulbs burning in the chandeliers and properly air-conditioned. They have a full kitchen that could be used professionally to provide better food then you could get at your local kids sport concession stand. It's terribly sad, it used to be one of the best restaurants in Huntington. Now you have a bartender(s) that don't give a shit who ignore their customers, obviously don't clean. If you are a smoker you will go out back to what could be a really beautiful nice porch party area to find an upswept porch , unclean porch furniture surrounded by ashtrays that aren't cleaned for weeks on end. And to be honest unless you drink beer the shots and liquor drinks are TERRIBLE!! They keep very little liquor and the bartenders cannot properly make good drinks. There is even an old cigarette machine in there not used. The bar area could be really nice but it's dingy and dark, and very out dated. How could any owner be proud of that. Now - what about the hours of operation: in the summer not opening til 5 on a Saturday. What about families who would like to bowl earlier. I have heard they favor leagues- why not, if they make on average 14-18 a person for a league. If 200 ppl a week are league bowlers @ 14 a person a week /52 wks a year that's $145,600 a year. if $18 a week that's $187,200 Now provided there is prize money plus paying employees but that's not counting the bar, food, gaming machine, and regular bowler fees. You can't tell me they are not pocketing a bunch of cash. Do the right thing renovate, update, and make changes so that my kids want to come here in the future. The owners are doing the community a HUGE disservice by excluding patrons who just come to bowl that can never get lanes because of leagues, keeping the building closed during prime business hours on Saturdays, not renovating/ making upgrades, and providing staff that do their job well. It's just bad business and it really sad.

Do the Neighborgalls still own it? If so, there should not be a problem with getting the remodels, etc done, considering they also own a construction company.

You do realize that If a house is packed with a league that it's doing something right? You also realize that when a bowler pays $18 a week that a portion only goes to the house and the rest in the prize fund.... League bowlers spend a lot of $$ at a bowling center. If you want to play games.... Go to Strike Zone.

Being packed for reason of being the closest alley other than strike zone isn't "doing something right" it's lack of opportunity. Man, I bowl there and I know only a portion of the money goes to the alley but look at that place. It's nasty. They should definitely fix it up better.

Then.... you know how well Colonial takes care of it's league bowlers. If you don't like it
.. Go to another center

I agree with they need major renovations. The place is a classic building but to compete with a place like Strike Zone they will have to do something soon. All they must care about is the league bowlers, every time I come to bowl there are never any lanes open. Sad.

So we've established that the place is dirty and could use a major facelift. Also, they're making plenty of money from the "real bowlers". I agree that the building is cool and a little upkeep would go a long way. So why not fix it up a bit? Sell some real food, that doesnt go straight from the freezer to the deep frier. Put a couple decent beers on tap. Some people go there just to drink or throw darts. With a decent menu, that place could be fun to go to whether you bowl or not

Has been. The last time I was there just a few months ago, it was so hot in there it made me sick. The place is run down filthy complete dive. Why not take some pride in your business and be apart of the solution to making Huntington a better place again? I get tired of all the run down houses around here that people just let fall apart & hold onto for a tax write off like the Ohio lawyer who owns a shanty shack in my neighborhood for the last 20 yrs.

Never cared for Amy, but her cousin Beth was always nice to look at.

Whoever owns it needs to open their eyes. Lanes are completely in disarray. The computer scoring is never right, constant pin errors and ball return issues. No brainier fixes that a bowling alley business should be on top of. And those of you saying go bowl at strike zone - there's a good way to drum up business and take care of customers! Send them elsewhere- that's nuts!!

Remember Ted's Imperial Lanes? Now THAT place was pretty nasty before they closed! Made Colonial look like a five star joint
