you know this is retarded to point fingers at the coaches I went to the buffalo and Vinson game, and even if that isn't a coach from Wayne he is true, and buffalo was a very good team to, so wanting to get rid of the coach cause they lost, u should be glad u was even in the championship , but either u r the biggest sore loser probably a grown man crying ( lol). or u just have a problem with the coach personally once again lol, so get a like and move on with your loser self,,, and good jobs to both buffalo and Vinson, cant wait to see them play together

the previous head coach before his resignation in june. During that time period vinson finished in or near last in the county each season (no disrespect to him) then I applied for the job because I wanted the kids to have some continuity unlike youth league ball where they have a different coach on each youth level team, and I wanted to try and get the program on a good track, both on the field, in the class room, and in their facilities. Starting in may myself and a few parents and jeff smith began a big project to try to clean up the facilities and stadium on a $0 budget by august. With the help of some parents and the sponsoring of some local businesses were able to get the old baseball field demolished and cleaned up to make a practice field,

ff was able to get the place painted, and we also finally got new goalposts. I also wanted to get together a coaching staff with experience who could help drill in the fundamentals of the game, so I hired coach thorburg who has coached over 30yrs, coach wiles who also has quite a bit of coaching experience, coach zeek who has coached a few years but more importantly played 4yrs of college football as well as professionaly and brought alot of experience, coach hannon was a first yr coach, but wanted to intern and learn the coaching side, and coach si dean who has been the face of vinson football for decades and the stadium is rightfully named after. All of those guys did an outstanding job as a staff of instilling fundamentals, discipline, and dedication and hard work into the players. One of our other focal points was to make sure they put more effort in the classroom by attending tutoring and keeping track of their grades and behavior....the results speak for themself.......25 of the 31 players made the honor roll with a 3.0 GPA or higher, and zero school suspensions. Then the season arrived, we opened the season with beverly hills, 3 days prior to the game a group of players planned a skip day and skipped practice and went to the local boys club, those 6 players were thereby suspended for the game for violating the team rules that were stated on day 1. There had to be an understanding by the players that rules are rules and they myst all abide by them. Our practice attendance the rest of the yr was over 97%, with remaining 3% being excused absences for sickness and various appts. After the opening loss we posted a 5-1 record the rest of the regular season with a narrow 22-20 loss to buffalo being the only record blemish in that 6 game stretch. Along the way during the season we set a county best 41.2 ppg average offensively, while giving up only 14.6, we had the first 1000 rusher (at the middleschool level), our qb completed almost 65% of his passing attempts with 8td passes to ZERO interceptions, and another rb almost hit 500yrds rushing, and 4 different wide much receivers catch td passes, and we did this behind a startinf offensive line that averaged 175lbs, of those 5 starting lineman 1 had never even played football before, and 2 others had never played on the line before, so 60% of our line had zero exp coming in. Then we get to the county championship game in a rematch with buffalo, we lost a 16-14 nailbiter with the ball on the 2yrd line as time ran out. This is a buffalo team that went 9-0 and didnt have another team get within 25/30pts of them, its not like we played a weak team, they are very talented and very tough. And now we come to the present, after everything that was accoplished this season, and helping mold a group of boys into young men and student athletes, I get stuff like this said, harrassing hang up calls, and a letter stuck in my front door at 3am last night while my wife and 13month old son lay in the bed sick fresh out of the hoslital that said...quote " you think ur a football coach? U and ur piece of shit family need to get the fuck outta here. Nice house u live in." end quote. Now I ask u all....am I the one with the problem?

How quick people forget what this program was like just one season ago. It is middle school football, we do play to win yes, but I am far more concerned about my players being good citizens, student, and members of society than decimating every one on the football field. I cant count how many times I dipped into my not very deep pocket to get something for players they couldnt afford, cleats, drinks, food, rides, etc etc etc. after reading all these comments on here plus the letter in my door, etc etc, it is u the people saying and doing these things that has their priorities in life all screwed up. I suggest that people realize there are way more important things in life than who won or lost a middle school football game, like whether ur kid does in school and stays out of trouble. Middle school is also a stepping stone to h.s., this is where they learn fundamentals and prepare for young adulthood. If I measure my success as a coach, wins are the icing on the cake, I measure my success with them on teaching them things they need in life.....isnt that point in scholastic sports????? Its not the NFL where ur paid only to win. I suggest anyone who has the urge to bash me or any of my staff or players need to rethink their comments before they open their mouth and insert their rear end. Im proud of my team and staff and the things they accomplished this season. And my hat is off to buffalo on a good clean hard fought game. Congratulations to both teams on great seasons.

this is the first year the coaches work with me. I had a problem with a student ball player and he handled it the right way and never had any more problems, this is the first year for a football coach to do anything about it, and the parent was grateful for how he handled it, Thanks again coach.

Great job, Coach!
Keep doing what is right and ignore the ones who will always find a problem!
And if you find out who left the letter on your porch, please post the name of the coward so we will all know!

If I find out who put the letter in my fr ok nt door I might need bail money to get out after I show them what I think of putting threatening letters towards my family on my house in the middle of the night. Ill even go one farther, if anyone has anything they would like to take up with me ill be in the choaches office at 6pm tommorow evening, and if ur not to cowardly to hide behind a computer or note or hangup call then come on by.....but we all know no one will show up because its much easier to sit back and hide behind a fake name and critisize those who are trying to do positive things.....their called an arm chair quarterback. I have no apllogies for how I did my job and coached those young men, and I dont hide under a fake name on the internet. This is whats wrong in athletics, a bunch of adults (and I use the term adults in age only) who have all the answers and are master critics, yet they wont get off their rear ends and do anythimg constructive. Theres a saying my grandpa used to say that applies to those kinds of people......"if ur not part of the solution then ur part of the problem". It is truly sad when the kids act more adult like than the adults.

I'm sorry to hear that people have to stoop so low to down grade the accomplishments that your have achieved so fast to get things rolling in the right way, not only on the field but all the hard work, sweat, and blood u put in the program its self. I really dont see anything wrong you done, I feel u done more by yourself than anyone should expect u to do in only one year,, I will be the first to back you, and ready for next year to work hard and to give it another run at the championship!!

I'm really sure a VMS teacher posted during the middle of the night, keep blowing your smoke. Take away the players you got from C. K and you would not have won two games.

Very proud of the team but everything I Hear about the head coach is he should not be coaching these young men. My daughter cheered there last year so I was around enough to know a few things.

It all comes down to this. I don't know you, and nothing about your program. But if you hadn't got the tailback from C-K, you would have struggled this year. Of course this kid is shopped around by mother. She takes him where she thinks a winning team will be. Was at huntington for D-C turf bowl championship on a sunday couple years ago. Monday morning enrolled at Vinson for basketball cause they were gonna be good. Left after basketball from Vinson to go to C-K middle to the loaded C-K middle team from last year. He wanted to and tried to go to Buffalo this year, of course for the obviuos reason of having to be on the winning team. But finally wasn't allowed to. Funny though, he never moved, always in the same house in westmoreland. Now on to Fairview in the fall cause they are young and supposed to be good for several years.
So sounds like you are coaching for the right reasons, teaching kids some life lessons. See what you can do next year without the imports. You might go winless, but as long as the kids are taught right, then good for you, and I support you.
As for the shopaholic mom and her kid, he was USED by the coaches who was always saying "why don't you come here and play". They didn't want him for the Kid he is, but for what he could do to make them a winning coach. That wasn't teaching him anything. You, the mother, is responsible for any wrong path he might venture. I hope it doesn't change from "Look at the touchdowns my Superstar kid can run" to "Why is my kid picture a mugshot?" Ive talked to the kid many times, seems like good kid. Just hope mother hasn't led him astray.

And let me conclude, the kid did not make these choices. Of course a kid is gonna WANT to be on winning team, but Mommy has the final say, and SHE let him do it, or as I believ pushed him to go here and there. She could have said "NO, we live in Vinson district, thats where he'll play, cause there are RULES to follow"
Instead, DC to Vinson, to CK, back to Vinson(after trying Buffalo though)

To "go tigers", u need to understand the difference between knowing something u witness vs things u have heard. I played 2yrs for coach house and he is the best coach ive ever had. He treated us fair no matter who we were, and he taught us alot about the game of football. I have learned tons more about football from him than all my coaches at SV combined!!! Coach bankston was a nice guy but didnt know jack about coaching. My 8th grade year the 3 games we won was only cause we scored alot points and outscored the other teams like a basketball score cause bankstons dint know how to coach a defense, and house was our offensive coach like he still is now. We got kicked out of our house when I was at vinson, and coach house bought my cleats and shoes and bought me some clothes for school and brought us food to our hotel, if thats what u call a bad coach u r a damn retard. Ill never be able to thank him for what he did for me, and if u try to get rid of him ur a damn idiot. On behalf of all of us tigers that played for coach house...thanks for everything. And for all u dumbasses giving him hell, ur all retards, u dont know what u have. we were tigers..and we approve this message.

I dont understand why you would down grade a coach that would do anything for his players, yea everyone does things in there past that we all regret, I dont know a hole lot about coach house, and I just moved to Wayne, and i went and watched several home games at Vinson I was really impressed with how the team played and the coaches was all dressed professional, I dont know why adults act the way they do, you all need some growing up to do especially Mr buffalo u need to worry about buffalo. and plus its middle school its about teaching fundamentals and its a stepping stone to high school. and by the way my name is Bill Stevens I'm not going to hide behind a fake name like Mr buffalo

For the record, ive coached against this guy for the past 4yrs, and he has always been a gentleman to our players and coaches. I know he has been the offensive coordinator the past 4 seasons and hes given my defense fits cause he runs a college caliber offense at the middle school level and makes it work well. Yes kurtlen brown was a big threat for them thisyear, but i have watched him also be very succesfull offensively with much less talent in past seasons. My wife works at cabell hospital, and i know firsthand that coach and his players came up there this summer and donated several hundred dollars worth of video game systems and games and movies to the pediatric ward and then visited the kids, but u dont hear people talkin bout that stuff on here, all i see is people with agendas on here dragginga good man and coach through the mud over b.s. thats not even true.....thats shamefull. And whoever called him a thug in an above post actually made me laugh out loud!! Wow oh wow, you people have no life.

I'm not from Buffalo or Vinson but Tiger alum had it right. There very well should have been a delay of game penalty and a personal foul for unsportman like conduct on Buffalo at the end of the game. Don't know if it would have made a difference or not. Vinson was moving the ball... We'll never know.
