Then why did they get their own place if they can't afford anything? Society is so backwards. Why are they depending on others to provide for them?!

The mission helps furnish clients with things to start a appartment. that's why people donate to them.they have clothes beds dishes. Sheets. she needs to ask them for help. they don't place u .unless they help get u stated.granted jobs are hard to get.but who's gonna pay her rent and bills

Government is giving out everything for free now. Why not a washing machine.

Pathetic.

I hope they get all the help they need.

The mission does receive donations from the community but may not always have the items in their donation area. Most often things donated are clothes. I would assume they went through the rapid rehousing program at the library and got assistance with their first month.

I think its great for those of you willing to help. You've got to give to get in return. There is nothing wrong with donating things to someone in need if you have it and its just sitting. If you donate to Goodwill, the items are sold.

To the original poster, please send me an email address to reach you. Between you and the community, we may be able to help this family in need.
Serious Question

#14 Jun 29, 2013
Would someone who knows please give information about what is done to donated clothing, bedding, stuffed animals, etc. before it is given away, to prevent the spread of lice, cockroaches and most importantly, BEDBUGS.

Bedbugs are spreading in Huntington via yard sales, etc., and I know that many yard salers donate their unsold items to charity. I can't help but wonder what the procedure is to prevent the spreading of vermin.

The only items I will buy at a yard sale are ceramics. I won't chance anything else.

Someone please tell?

Curious statement.

Are you supposed to buy cookware and furniture to sleep on and then obtain shelter and a place to cook? My dumbass bought central air and heating after I bought a house to heat and cool.
My word, I did do things backwards.

You honestly are the most idiotic commenter on this whole board. Most people would agree that you shouldn't move out into an apartment/house if you don't have enough money to furnish it, pay the bills, etc. That would be absolutely stupid. These people shouldn't rely on others to hand them things for free just because they got an apartment. Can't afford something? Get another job, save money, take the LOGICAL steps to get it instead of whining about not having enough money and asking people you don't even know for help!

You bought a house that required installation of central heating and cooling? Yeah, you are a dumbass.

I really hope you never need any help....From a parent, friend, or stranger. Just think...this is a little different, but what if you were involved in a car accident and needed CPR or other medical attention, should you not rely on others to save your life?

Sometimes, we all need help. My car broke down due to something out of my control, but yet my mother helped me get to work. Should I not have bought the car because I knew eventually it would break down?

It's "Angel". For the love of all that is holy, it is spelled "Angel".

For pity's sake, can NO ONE in W.V. spell this simple, simple word? You see this misspelling EVERYWHERE.

An "Angle" is completely different. Jeez.
