Let me simplify this for all you naysayers! "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"! The Bible said it, I believe it and that settles it. You all carry on.

Can't tell if joking or something a fundy might actually say...

It's like Fox news headlines, when someone posts them on Facebook I can't tell if its actual or a joke.

Yes, we know in seven days--but days may mean months, years, eons, etc. because god has no concept of time. This presents a paradox because god uses the measurement of days in his opening line in his great book, and most people realize the earth was not created in seven actual days. Why would god use days?? God has no concept of time, but he said seven DAYS...HMMMM. Okay, but your not starting off too well....let's continue....On the seventh he rested--again, an all powerful, all knowing, all encompassing god needed to rest?? HMMMMM.
Let me make it simple for you: if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck--its a duck. Religon is BULL, and this is just the opening lines of the first book of the Bible.

I believe in God. Religion is a whole different story, though. I believe having a personal relationship with Christ & striving to live by His example in the Bible is what gets you into heaven, not following the rules and regulations of a church or religion (though some people find that kind of thing to help them with their relationship, but I don't think it's necessary). I actually work in scientific research, and by looking at samples of tissue, blood, and the physiological processes of the human body in general, I don't see how we could simply evolve from a cess pool of bacteria millions of years ago. The complexity of life has to be attributed to something, and for me, that something is God. I DO believe evolution has happened from the original Adam & Eve humans, which provides an explanation for the many different Ethnic groups of present day. So anyway, yes I'm a believer, and no, there is no use trying to argue with me or away me into atheism, so please don't bother. God bless you all! Have a nice Saturday.:)

You don't have to have religion to have morals. They are separate things. If one were tied to the other you wouldn't have things like the Westboro Church, pedophile priests, etc..........

Your god invented life, the universe, and everything but doesn't understand a calendar? Makes sense

Doesn't make sense. Whats with the question mark? I don understand what you are trying to say. God created life, the universe and the calendar and I'm positive that God understands every thing that's in and on the the Universe.

Yeah! Sure! Pedophile priests, child trafficking, the inquisition, witch and heretic burnings, torture, crusades, forced conversions, helping make AIDS a pandemic and condemning children to hopeless poverty with campaigns against condoms and other means of contraception...

They've only recently begun to acknowledge things like the Earth not being flat and facts like the Earth revolving around the Sun and the Earth not being the center of the Universe...
They're full of it and the world is beginning to notice... And it all stinks!

Anyone notice that the Bible Belt and Alaska have the highest rates of STD's, teen pregnancies, dropout rates etc.?

These are states in which the abstinence message is pushed the most...

As a thought experiment, find someone with whom you disagree with morally based on their behavior. Ask that person if they believe in God... And keep doing this for say a year's time. You will have found people who go to Church and espouse all the same dubious moral principles the religious claim to follow.

Then look at Middle Eastern and African nations in which religion dominates social and cultural affairs... You'll notice things like witch burnings in Africa, be-headings for things like adultery and witchcraft in the Middle East...

In all of these places, you'll notice a persecution of people practicing religions not sponsored by the state. You'll notice people being persecuted for homosexuality etc.

In all of these places, religious figures dominate social policies and influence school curriculum...

That's what happens when society is operated based on religious principles rather than social justice and equality.

Religion is not a basis for a moral code and never has been. In the west, its influence has been tamed, and that is why we have something approaching equality.

The Bible and the Quran both have scriptures which promote and justify the use of slavery.

Those books are nothing but collections of ramblings from tribal men living in another era.

People developed ethics long before the Jews dreamed up your god. We need certain codes of conduct to function in a society. Nothing to do with your idiotic faerie tales of virgin birth and water walking.

It's appalling that so many think Christianity and morals are related. It amazes me that even after scams, scandals, and countless incidents of sexual abuse in the churches parishioners continue to feel a sense of smug moral supremacy. Typical response "We have all sinned and our loving god forgives" . Would one of the Christian faithful explain that to the Egyptian first born your god murdered? You can forgive pedophilia, theft, and the sexual scandals of those who give lip service to your faith, but any other person who differs from your viewpoint or homosexuals are an abomination. It's backward--you are the abomination. Quit brainwashing poor children and trying to force your belief on others. Keep your religion in places of worship at out of our laws and government. Be good sheep (a name your god uses to describe you--ironic?) on Sunday and do as your told, but allow others equal rights and free will.

Thanks for your permission. Go back and pray to your murdering god. If your bible is true then your god is the biggest psychopath this world has ever seen. Have fun with that.

It is odd that the Hebrew "Jewish" belief (Cult) came from the Sumerians. The Christian belief "Roman Catholic" (Cult) came from the Jews. The Protestant belief (Cult) came from the Roman Catholic. The Sumerians and Hebrews are no more. The Roman Catholic cult is in a state of upheaval and disarray. And the many fractured Protestant cults are spread across our Nation. The Christians worship Jesus, a Jew. The Jews recognize Jesus as a Jewish prophet and makes fun of Christian for worshiping him as a God. Christians hate the Jews for killing their Jewish God. Thank you Abraham for the mess.
