The problem with Aaron Michael Fox is that he is crazy. I don't mean that passively. I got his mailer that he sent and it was ridiculous. He was going to try to tell property owners in his district how to develop their property. If he had taken the time to talk to any of them he would have found out there are numerous restrictions of which the city has no weight to address that are holding up downtown development. He even mentioned how he would have a privately held downtown property, that is not owned by the city and is currently being re-developed, turned into something that it failed as previously. He is a lot of talk and no planning.

He thinks the people of district 3 care about all these national issues but honestly we could care less. Most of us are over retirement age and we support raising the user fee because we don't pay it since were are retired or work outside the city.

I am all for Pubic art but Graffiti planned or not generally results in reduced property values which is a fact. If Aaron Michael Fox wanted to appeal to the people around here he needs to support stricter ordinances and fines for vandalism.

He also wants to try and keep students in the area here giving back to the community. Another great example of how much he doesn't know. First off there aren't enough jobs here and there is not enough funding generated by the city to pay for an innovative and creative work force. Unless he wants to raise grant money and even then the wage is non-competitive and the job is only as secure as long as the grant is being funded. Just to note as well, Marshall's faculty is not nearly paid enough to do anything outside the university without additional compensation.

The strangest thing of all is that he takes a Energy and Environment stance that has nothing to do with the people who are voting for him. Huntington, while I will admit is windy, is not located in an area where it is profitable to develop wind energy. If he had read any of the USGS reports on wind energy in WV he would know that. With regards to manufacturing components for green energy why would a company locate in WV? or Huntington? Certainly not in District three will we be building any new factories.

Solar panels are produced in the desert because they can get materials cheaper. Windmills are produced in the Midwest and south because that is where the major aerospace companies are located and already have existing infrastructure. Fox's final proposal is the most insane of all Thorium Nuclear Reactor Energy. Aaron makes a lot of claims but at the end of the day there is still going to be radioactive waste, maybe not as many fuel rods over the operating life of the reactor but certainly radioactive precipitates and liquids. Sure it is only radioactive for a thousand years but if it contaminates the ground water can you go without a drink of water for a thousand years?

He also wants to develop an IDEA network where he expects Marshall and Huntington to collaborate with non-peer institutions and municipalities. Again he has never tired this or he would know the road blocks.

The bottom line is that Aaron Michael Fox doesn't know the voters of district three, he doesn't know the business owners of district three, and he doesn't know what matters to the people of district three.

I didn't want to vote for Francis but she does represent the people who actually vote in district three and she has certainly helped me out when I needed her. Maybe if Mr. Fox looked at the voters in district three he would know what would have won him the election.

Frances wasn't worried. If she wanted to play dirty she could have run his standup act where he talks about smoking pot and past DUI.

Sounds like old-school, old-thinking, Huntington-as-it's-always-been . I'm just sad you HAVE a vote because you're obviously old and resistant to change and trying to be forward-thinking.
