People will abuse the methadone an the suboxone but they also have vivitrol shot given i x a month. I have heard excellent reports from this. And the medical card will pay for it up to a year! And it has No meth in it at all!

Wrong. The medical card will NOT pay for it, nor will any other insurance.

I as a tax payer dont think the medical card should pay for anyone that has a drug problem. If a drug addict has the money to buy drugs then they can find the money to pay for treatment.

I, also as a taxpayer, would much rather see Medicaid pay for rehabilitation for someone who admits they have a problem and are taking the proper steps to take care of it and become a productive, healthy citizen than see my tax dollars pay for them to go to jail where they will recieve no help, and waste more tax money by being incarcerated. Not to mention ruin any chance of getting a job and becoming part of the work force. Most addicts support their addiction by ripping people off, stealing, lying to their families, etc. God forbid anyone recieve much needed help when they mess up! Being as I am not superior to anyone, I must ask, how does it feel to be able to look down on others?

Lets not even go there. I am not looking down on anyone. If someone choose to do drugs and become an addict then they made that decision not me. I know several people that were on drugs and they go out and work everyday to pay for treatment. And they do receive help in jail. You are correct that most addicts support their habits by ripping off people. They are called criminals and need to be locked up. They had a choice and they choose drugs over being a productive part of society, having a job and wanting to have a better life. It is not mine or no one else place to pay for care for a dumba^^. When I get sick you as a tax payer don't pay my medical bills. I pay my own. With Cash....That I have worked hard for.

Yes, you ARE looking down on people. Addiction is never a choice. However, I'm going to gather from your post that not only are you uneducated and heartless, but intent on staying that way.

LOL. After dealing with someone that has an addiction for 19+ years, I offered help and they were not interested. 19+ years of help..... I overlooked so much and made excuses for their situation. When there was no excuse. So yeah I am heartless, but I put in the time, money, and energy to support a low life addict. I am educated, addiction is a choice. Before they even take the first drink, smoke that first hit off their crack pipe, snort their first line. Before popping pills. They could have said NO....Sorry that your addiction has lead you to be a mooch on every tax payer and expect us to pay for your mistakes.

I can add "lacking reading comprehension" to your other qualities. Did you not see where I said I, too, am a tax payer? Nah, it doesn't go with your preconceived notion of anyone who disagrees with you! I am also not an addict. I don't even indulge in the occasional beer. But I guess since I can empathize with peoPle who ARE addicts your small mind just had to lump the two together. Idiot.

Yeah I read it, and I choose to ignore your ignorance. If you are so above us, you too would have a problem with all the wasted money and debt this country has. But all you can do is complain and bitc* about paying for someones addiction. Do you also know that Medicaid pays for breast reductions. If someone complains that their back hurts(because they are overweight) then Medicaid will pay for it. Again a expense that shouldn't have to pay for. Open your ears next time you are in a doctor's office, you might be surprised at what others say they get from Medicaid.

And breast reductions? Really?

How can anyone's breasts be so large that they need TWO reductions? My mother had one due to back pain and her insurance (not Medicaid) covered a portion of it. She said if she'd known how bad the recovery from the reduction was going to be she would have just dealt with the back pain :-\

I've been getting the Vivitrol shot for a little over 6 months and yes; the medical card, various prescription plans if ur receiving n e type of Social Security (Disability). I used to have a 6.50 co-pay but as of a cpl mths ago, I am very grateful they changed my stuff n now, I don't pay a penny at the pharmacy for the shot itself. I'm sure there's other docs that can & do give it; I just dunno who other than dr klinestiver n Milton. I'm not sure exactly what his office charges to administer it b/c again; I am SOOOO grateful for Medicare theyre my primary & they pay first 80% of all office visits n I'm only responsible for like 40-50 bucks every 3-4 mths. They'll work with u if need be. Also, he will actually write u a script each month for ur nerves, if u need it; me n my friend both get kolonopins.

I'm not directing this at u so please don't take it as I am....Im throwing it out there simply bc it cld possibly help next person that reads this thread. U hear SOOOO many people crying they wanna get off dope n wld do n e thing to b able to. Well, the shots not just gna fall n ur lap....& I'm sure u all know it runs between 12-1400.00 just for shot itself at the pharm if ur paying cash. U can not b dirty when u get the shot u have to already detoxes atleast 3-5 days. Otherwise; u lie to doc n they give u the shot; ull b praying to die....I PROMISE!!!

This isn't like suboxone where u wake up daily n get that choice do u wanna go take ur box or go get a pill or some h. Once u get the shot; I don't care how many pills u eat, snort, shoot....as goes with the h...UD B WASTING UR $ bc no matter how good it is or how much u get....u won't feel ANY OPIATES 4 30 days; it's an opiate blocker.

Hope my post helps somebody.....even if just one of u uses my info n get off the dope n the info I've posted saves atleast one life....N E ONE CAN WALK FROM THAT LIFESTYLE N DO THIS. If I did it....N E OF U CAN!!!!

I've been at the treatment center a year & use it correctly, & starting to lower my dose weekly. However I hate being on methadone & want off completely.
Can you tell me more? Whenever you go 3 days without dosing & then get the shot, isn't it just like detoxing without anything? Painful? Or does it also help with that?
Did you start out on methadone and then switch?

Withdrawal, while bad, is not life threatening. And it is not all that bad. Anyone can make it through it if they want off drugs bad enough. The key is to not let your mind trick you into getting more drugs. You have to Tell yourself no, hell no, no way, not ever again... I was a user for many years. When I quit I knew it would be painful and unpleasant and I wasn't sure I would ever feel normal again. But I stuck it out. The pain passes, the cravings pass and eventually you will realize just how good you feel. Normal.

I didn't use any kind of treatment plan but I have family and friends who do and they are doing well, staying off drugs. I just wonder what will happen to them once they try to get off the treatment (in their case suboxone).

Are you kidding me!!!!Are you telling me it is costing the taxpayer's around $14,400.00-$16,800.00 to take care of your addiction. Really. There is something wrong with this situation. Some people don't even make that working full time. And don't get any type of insurance. But if they are strung out on drugs, look at the money that is being thrown to take care of them. Shameful
