Please do comparison shopping before even thinking of purchasing an item from Mack & Daves. All of their products are marked at least 100% above retail. I am not exaggerating when I say that either.
For example, an older, and heavily used, version of this - http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gold-s-Gym-Stridetr... , has a price of $600 dollars in store. Look in the furniture section at their exercise equipment if you don't believe me. Don't get me started on the price they have listed for the 8 + year old entry-level Proform treadmill next to it.
Sure, they will take off 50 dollars and give you the impression you're getting a "deal," but do yourself a favor and enter the product you're interested in buying on Google to see the actual value before paying more than twice what it actually costs anywhere else.
I understand that local businesses cannot compete with larger outlets when it comes to prices, but don't grossly inflate the price and pitch it as a value.

I like the M &K maytag store in Proctorville, Ive bought good second hand washer/dryer and fridge there and they are always nice to deal with. I believe they have payments too. I would do that before mack & daves...I agree with above post

this place is like an over-priced yard sale. Its a bunch of random stuff, in a store with hand written price tags hanging off of it. They want almost $200 for a gun that we went to another place and got for $99. There was no 'haggling.' That was their final price. I don't see how they're still in business.

I have to disagree with the people about standing behind there products..... I bought 2 rolex from them and the first one I bougt was a gift and right after Christmas something was wring with the watch ... They sent to back to rolex to be repaired and it came back with a bill of over $1200.00... I saw the bill and I thought they were gonna Truro charge mr for it ..... The lady handed me my watch back. Just like new and said how sorry they were...... So I bought another one later thy year...... And yes they are High but very negotiable..... All u have to do is ask for better price.... They will usually give u a better price..... Ppl on the floor are very nice .... The ppl where u pay are a Lil grouchy but they are like a million years old so I guess they earn the right....

I had sex on the Gold's gym strider at Max and Dave's. That should knock it down at least 100 dollars. I hope they can get the stains out. One of the gear sticks too! Apparently our lube is not water soluble. Also... the fly wheel squeals. Please be on the look out.

I think they are a great local business. They have been there A LONG TIME, and there is a reason for that. Yes they have things priced a little high, but unlike Walmart you can negotiate there. They offer credit to people that couldn't otherwise afford it and they give everyone a fair shake.

So if I charge you $500 more for something than what Walmart charges, you'll buy it from me if I knock $50 off? Sounds like win win for everyone.

Mack & D's is on it's way out! They are letting go of their finest employees and what's left is a skeleton crew. It started when the camera dept was dismantled and it looks like the stereo & gun dept. are dying the same death. The owner has dementia unfortunately and there is no family to take it over- or any interested at least. I have this on good authority from an employee. My advice to you is sell to them, but don't buy... They are trying to make whatever $ they can and plan on gettin the he'll outa dodge!

Johnson, welcome to the area. I agree with Dinkman, sell, but Don't Buy! They've got some sweet old people working in there, and it has its charm, but the way things are priced looks as if they are not even aware that the internet exists.(and they may not be aware, at that). Yes, the breakdown did begin with the camera department. But it's business, and no matter how you feel when you walk out, you got skinned, because they are no fools. Remember Heilig-Meyers? That store was pretty much run the same way. I was in there once and they had a bunch of little portable Japanese tvs. Somewhere they had found a bunch of "Eagle & Shield" Harley insignias, made out of cheap pot metal, and they had actually HOT GLUED those to the front of each tv. You could see the oozed glue around the edges, and they were selling them as "Harley Davidson Brand tvs". I knew a rube that actually bought one, and I laughed my a$$ off.:)

I agree not to go to mck and ds without knowing a good price for the item you are wanting go purchase but i recommend knowing that information no matter where you shop. If you know what you can get the item for in another store, at least every time i have shopped there, they were willing to beat it. So if you go in and pay sticker price for an item then you probably got screwed but if you're willing to haggle, know a fair price, and can back up where you can get the object at a lesser rate then they are willing to deal and will most often beat and always match another local competitor. So for the most part I like them....it's not their fault some people are dumb enough to just go in an pay sticker price when everyone knows they haggle. They are a good place to do business with...there's a reason they've been in business for so long.

I have purchased MANY guns at Mack n Dave's and got a helluva deal in each one of them. If you go in there knowing what an items worth and talk to them like an adult, you can get a fantastic deal on there. Same with car stereo equip. I priced a unit online and with shipping was going to pay right at $200. I found almost the same thing there and it was originally a hundred bucks more than what I saw online. I walked out of there paying exactly what I would have if I got it online.
I like Mack n Dave's. I like the people that work there. I'll miss it when it goes away.

i have no clue how mack and daves is still in business. Seven years ago I got the rudest salesman and swore to myself I would never go back. Last month I went in there to buy a gun and the gun salesman talked me out of buying one! he said the quality was crap and I didn't want it...then walked away.

I went to the service desk and told the old lady behind the desk my experience and her reply was "why are you telling me?"

Seriously? never again. EVERYTHING is over priced, dirty and the staff is rude. I can't wait till Pullman buys this place and turns it into something worthwhile.

Mack and Daves is a great business..I would rather give my money to a small mom and pop store instead of big business. That's why stores like Walmart lowes etc is put moms and pops out of business.I would rather pay m&d the extra cash than deal with the crowds etc. Also they would give me credit when no one else would. And not because I had bad credit,I had no credit!! I would suggest you shop with theim(:
