Bush, Regan and Clinton all filed briefs in court opposing current federal law as being unconstitutional. Obama did not choose to challenge the constitutionality of DOMA. Who cares whether DOMA is constitutional or not. As he has said repeatedly, DOMA is discriminatory and interferes with states rights. He intends to work with Congress to repeal the act.<quoted text>
Can you understand the point of my post? My point is that the Obama administration openly defends DOMA in court. It has nothing to do with the author of that article.
In my opinion choosing to follow the laws that are on the books he pointed out how silly some others of them are -- not just DOMA. For example: Which heterosexuals can get married varies from state to state.
I believe as apparently Obama believes that the age of consent should be the same across the country.
Currently two people in houses next to each other can have sex with 17 year olds. One could go to prison for years and the other has done nothing wrong if the two houses are on the border between California and Nevada.
States laws should agree on what constitutes incest.
In chosing to point out that DOMA is a law that needs changed, Obama has brought the inequality of other laws to the limelight as well.
