I am so sick and tired of working hard and getting nothing back on taxes.

I am successful and make about 95k per year but my kids do not get free college, nor do I get THOUSANDS of dollars back per year like people who are not as successful as me.

The entire system is screwed up and rewards people who work very little or make little income. I am tired of supporting unmotivated people by ways of people like me paying more in taxes.

Why can't there just be a flat % across the board income tax no matter what you make. It would be equal and fair to everyone.

Why do people who pay next to nothing in taxes get more back than what was withheld from their paychecks? It just does not make any sense.

Before you bash me and say "I would trade places with you any day", remember I busted my rear to get where I am, have you?

Do not get me started. I could not agree more. The college thing, free cell phone, food stamps, earned income credit, monster tax refunds, etc. is why this country has such a huge deficit problem. Cut out these crazy programs and make these couch potatoes work for a change.

In part, the Earned Income Credit allows you to keep that good job earning 95k a year. Rather than looking at it as just free money given to poor people try to remember that it is a built in stimulus to the economy. If not enough people have the funds to buy or use whatever product/service you sell then you would not be needed. Be happy with what you have.

I am happy with what I have, just do not like seeing people abuse the system that do not even realize they are abusing it. If they system gets changed, the people will be forced to work smarter / harder.

Also, the free college for people whose parents do not make much money is ridiculous. Those kids need to pay their way through college. If they are not able to juggle working full time while attending class, they can join the military for 4 years and pay for it with the GI BILL. The only exceptions to this should be for people with physical disabilities or injuries that prevent them from serving.

Not to mention how many go to college on the dole earn useless degrees while there anyway, if they even finish.

When you earn what you have, you tend to not be so wasteful with it. If you're working three jobs so you can go to school full-time, you tend to care a bit more about it than if you get a pell grant to take care of everything.

I agree with you for the most part. I do think that the system needs changed. Not only for entitlements but also wages. There will always be a need for (minimum wage employees) burger flippers, pizza delivery guys/girls, Dirtbuster/Service Master, etc... They work hard and should be paid enough to live on so they would not need added help.

College should be a given right to any person who wants it. On the one hand you want people to better themselves so as to be successful, but at the same time you want to cut the means to get them there.

Have you checked to see if your kids will qualify for the Promise scholarship?

i would have to agree, i work 2 jobs to support my family and wanted to earm a degree by goin to school so i can work 1 job instead of 2. i applied for financial aid only to be told i make to much money to get financial aid. he said if i would quite 1 of them jobs then next year i would be able to get financial aid. now my question is if i do that i would have to get on assistance, and struggle. I remember thinking that day after i left the school thi ssystem is so messed up! i work hard get no assistance, and instead of them helping me they will help a lady who doesnt work, has 5 kids, and has no desire to better herself...the system is holding people who want better back.

Commissioned salespeople make big bucks. It's a reasonable amount to make. You guys act like the op is a liar. They probably really make that much if they are in sales but who knows, or cares? The op's points are valid and a lot of people feel the same.

I understand what you're saying. I work 2 jobs, too, plus take care of my diabetic mother, and take college classes online. I don't get any grant money. I wanted to actually attend my college and live on campus, but I couldn't afford the tuition that way. If I had a bunch of illegitimate children, received welfare, and wouldn't work in a pie factory, I probably work have gotten some grant money. I'm just being honest. Now I don't begrudge anyone who needs help if they're actually trying to help themselves, but people who won't work or even try to find a job doesn't deserve any financial assistance, in my humble opinion.
