Welfare is available for people who need it. I was pregnant not long ago, also working 40hrs + a week. I have rent, electric, water, gas, bus fare (because I can't afford a vehicle) not to mention necessities that have to come from my paycheck, food and student loan bills. I'm sorry I'm not perfect but at least I can't say I sat on my ass and collected welfare. I pay my taxes just like you.

Why do some women choose to get pregnant when they can't support themselves let alone a baby?

I am so tired of working hard all the time it seems yet I can't qualify for any welfare type programs.

At times I wonder why I even bother working and wonder if I would be better off just quitting and signing up for Welfare, Hud, Foodstamps, WIC, etc. Someone tell me life will get better if I just keep working hard. I am feeling very down and defeated.

U really need to get a life! You're probably some bitch who no one in their right mind would fu#k or some lame a$shole who couldn't pay someone to fu#k u. Why is it always the woman's place to support the child? It takes two to tango and how about all the dead best dads out there who are selfish and don't want to take responsibility for their actions. It's fine to get some help when needed just don't make if a lifestyle and better yourself ladies! Do it for your kids. As for the lame person who wants to talk shit get a life!

yeah, there are a lot of dead beat dads out there, but you parted your legs for them too. You made sex pretty much free, so why should they stick around?

Like I said honey poo, get a second job. Do not rely on a man to take care of you and certainly STOP relying on our taxes to help raise your offspring.

I work over 40hrs a week, for your information. 7months pregnant on my feet 8+ hrs a day with no break. I work and pay taxes also,$100 in food stamps isn't very much but it goes a long way. I pay well over $100 a month in taxes so back the fuck off and count your blessings that you don't need it yourself!

Why didn't you wait until you could afford to bring a child into this world before becoming another welfare recipient? Not hating on you, just curious.

Seems like you should have thought about the future and had a plan in place before putting yourself into the position of relying upon others.

I do not understand why my fellow women do not think ahead. You can rely on nobody in life but yourself.

We're losing up to $400 billion annually to tax evasion. That's five times more than the entire food stamp program costs to feed 50 million people. Think about that the next time you try to blame the struggling mom for our debt.

It's not always black and white. My ex and I have several kids, the last conceived after my tubes were done. He has a great job. He left while I was pregnant and on bed rest. My family had no choice. We get stamps and I have child support and one other income source. It would not pay me to work until they are all in school and one has special needs. I cannot WAIT to work! So, because my ex is a cheating, neglectful man, I'm given dirty looks at the grocery. I don't have a smartphone, I haven't bought clothes for myself in several years, and we have a no candy/sugary/soda/junk food policy on the food stamp usage. That stuff is expensive and we have to stretch them as far as we can. Being thrown into poverty (45k to 15k) is humbling. No more dance, no vacations, no more fast food, or splurged. This is only temporary and its hurtful that people see me pull out the food car, see the number of children I have, and assume I'm lazy. Please, be more considerate. I'm happy that programs are in place to help me and others like me, affected by circumstances.

That is true. It's a lesson I'll teach my daughters and sons. But I thought my life was set with my husband of 15 years. I had no back-up plan. Even if I had, I'm not entirely sure it would have been a smooth transition.
