Shut up and get back to work, serf!:-)
Serf != slave. But serfdom isn't a great condition to find yourself in. You could argue that a mortgage and the declining propensity to save puts people in an almost servile condition that is reminiscent to some extent of serfdom.

What a load of shit. Where do you "produce"? In building paid for by rich people? Work as part of an infrastructure created by rich people? Use equipment paid for by those same rich people? For customers brought in by those rich people? Lets be real. You are at the bottom because you are easily replaced and your job isn't that important. How every not just anyone can do the job, take the risk, and all the other things the higher ups had/have to do.

If it is so simple to "be the man". Then start your own business! Take a risk, put up your money, use your brain to think of something useful people need, and work long hours and hope you are not one of the 95% of business' that fail.

No one is keeping you poor except your own short comings. You lack of risk taking, lack of responsibility, lack of education, and lack of willingness to leave your comfort zone.

Stop blaming others and blame yourself or be content with your life. It is easy to blame others so you have an excuse not to do anything to better yourself. Just like an addiction. Until you admit you need to change you never will. It is the classic sign of irresponsibility. Like the person who does something wrong or breaks the law and makes excuses why they did it. If they were honest and took responsibility for their actions. They would have to look at themselves and ask what is wrong with them and might be enlightened for the first time.

Love can be the feeling we have for the "rich and the poor", those we care deeply about and hold in high regard. Love can be light as the hug we give a friend or heavy as the sacrifices we make for our children. It can be romantic, platonic, familial, fleeting, everlasting, conditional, sorrow, stoked by sex, sullied by abuse, amplified by kindness, twisted by betrayal, darkened by difficulty, leavened by generosity, nourished by humor and “loaded with promises and commitments” that we may or may not want or keep. Love is unconditional

That would be an entrepeneur. It would be interesting to me to see how many of the top 10% actually earned it this way. Working in the finance sector or upper management in a corporation doesn't require risking your own money or coming up with original ideas or even being intelligent in the traditional sense. Risk taking? Yes, often with other people's capital. Hard working? Probably. People don't often find that amount of financial success spending time with family,or memorizing the sports section, or watching reality TV, or posting on Topix.

Most people who lose hate successful people. Because they worked hard and smart to gain their wealth while you we're popping out kids and playing video games. I guess if I were you, I would hate the Rich too.

It's true. I don't resent people who have more than I do. If they're successful, I honestly think "Good for them!" I can't stand silly, pretentious snots, though, but that's about class, not money.

You are right. But those positions do require advanced education. Something almost all the people who piss and moan the most didn't bother making an effort to get. They fly by the seat of their pants and don't give a damn about their future. Then when it arrives they regret it and want someone to pick up the bill. Im sure there is some people in the top 10% who didn't "earn". But that is the case for some people at all levels. Also I would say paying big money for college would be considering risking your money. There is other expenses to be considered along the way. Not to mention other risks besides money. Leaving a job and your home hoping to find something better some where else. Or it might be not having 15 kids and holding off on a family.

The truth is you shouldn't idolize anyone. But the problem is the people who hate the rich Idolize their possessions and their way of life. If that's the case then you should respect them and let them inspire you to also do what it takes to be successful. But too many people want those things and use it for a reason to be jealous and don't want to do what it takes to have those things but don't want them to have it either. So their jealousy turns to spitefulness. Which is really what we see now more than anything. People wanting to take away from others more than they want it for themselves.

I would much rather be the person who looks at the rich and says " I want that car, that house, that money, that job. Im going to work harder, work smarter, and make it happen." rather than the one who sees the same rich person and piss' and moans about what that person has. That person contains every negative trait possible. Jealousy, bitterness, anger, hatred, etc. Nothing good comes of it. It only assures you stay at the bottom as a miserable useless person who lived a lifestyle of contentment while hating every minute of it. You should be happy for those who have things.

I don't like welfare people. The ones who are able to work and be slaves. They should be good slaves and earn their own way.

<quoted text>Why do you hate rich people? Not all rich people flaunt what they have. Lot of them help the communites, give to charities pay their fair share of taxes. There are some that want to get richer at the poor expense, but in general most made their money the honest way. On the other hand you have dishonest poor people that are constantely trying to steal from the rich, you see soup! this old world has alot of dishonest people in it. Bill Gates is one of the Richest people in the world, but He has given more to chairty than what Va and WV is worth at the present, how can you say you hate Bill and Gloria Gates who given one have of their networth to sick children around the world, they have made it possible for you to sit at the computer and write your thoughts on topix. I don't know what your concept of worth is, or being rich is, but I can not count my blessings they are so bountiful, I'm just thankful for them, and I'm happy for others for what they have, even if some have Billions. And BTW, there is no room for the word HATE in my family vocabulary. Nancy Lou
Since you are such an expert on Mr. Gates, I am sure you know his wife's name is Belinda, not Gloria. And the majority of their charity extends to AIDS victims in Africa. How does that help anyone in the US that is paying for that huge tax write off?

Bill Gates' wife is called Melinda not Belinda. The foundation funds programs in HIV/AIDS; this effort doesn't constitute the majority of the spend of the Foundation. You can check out the website for details.

Gates earned the money he has; it's his. He can spend it how he sees fit.

The tax benefit he accrues is a small percentage of his money that he gave to the Foundation. Check out the FAQ section in the Foundation website for more details.

Why don't you explain what you think the term means and why it constitutes an inequity?
