I still disagree. If a cop did this on the street off duty, yes, but on the job in uniform... different story. Same applies to correction officers. This isn`t two poeple fueding over a bar bet or who`s taking the whore home. You don`t blame the fire dept for water damage after putting out fires, you can atleast wait till facts come in. There is no doubt excessive force was used.

Yeah now, I`m refering to the ideology of sending a dozen poeple to jail for one or two people. Hence, the comments I been replying to. Like I said, I`d be surprised if 2 or 3 people did jail time. So 6 were "disciplined" 1 resigned is what I heard last.

Amen to the facts being in on the new s tonight 6 disciplined and one resigned and 8 still on suspension. Well one resigned and six in trouble well I would say that proves a lot. So those of you who want to trash talk and not believe wake up I told you so. Hmmm what's next bet I know. Just because they don't tell everyone doesnt mean I dont know. No excuses for what happened not just to one inmate but two. I would say that is a major problem. Restraint is one thing beating someone almost to death is another. Maybe it will teach a few C.O.s a lesson. Sure hope no one has to go through what my family and the other family has had to.

Big bad ass security guard as usual! You're straight talking shit with your pressure points and arm bar! What are you gonna do when someone slits your bad ass throat from behind? If you all could actually back up shit talk like that then, you wouldn't need shit like pepper spray and tasers! You're just little kitty cat keeping watch over a cage full of lions! If you're actually any kind of real guard, you can expect to have a short life with that attitude!

You really have a bad attitude and you are doing nothing to further your brother's case by acting this way.

You are showing that you have a mindset of a criminal and someone that has been institutionalized with a "us vs. them" mindset.

Maybe you should seek some help?

Sounds to me like a lot of people are misinformed or believe what they want to believe. Take Lt Dan, tasers, pepper spray, and slit throats....Sounds like someone watches too much TV. Why don't people let the system work its course then have a discussion on that, most of the stories I hear about this jail and others I take with a grain of salt until I get some facts, no the ramblings done on an anonymous message board.

First of all, he isn't my brother or even related to me. Secondly, The few times I have been to jail was mostly over petty stuff like an unpaid speeding ticket or when I was falsely accused of domestic violence where I was found not guilty by the judge which is the very reason I've seen how you douche bags operate and I have a bad attitude towards the very people who are supposed uphold the law breaking it.
Mayors and cops going to jail left and right for DUI and selling drugs and jail guards smuggling in contraband and beating and raping people and you really think my attitude on topix bears any weight on anything?
I do respect the law and I do cooperate with it but, I don't repect a badge, I respect the man wearing it!
Those tards can't take your fingerprints and mug shot without showing you their ego that they pin on their shirt every morning and the more you respect them and try to cooperate, the more they talk down to you and treat you like crap.
The very thing about all of these crooked cops and guards is that they think it is their job to make the laws instead of to uphold them. It makes no difference if someone forgot to pay a speeding ticket or shot their neighbor over a parking spot, your job is to secure the criminals and bring them to justice, NOT JUDGE THEM!
Another thing that they don't seem to comprehend is that when you take an oath to uphold the law, you are supposed to hold yourself to a higher standard, not sleep off your DUI charge in a holding cell and then, get in your cruiser for another shift!
They're all hypocrites by their own admission. Their way of thinking is that everyone in jail is guilty and deserves whatever they get but, then when their own dirty laundry starts blowing in the wind they believe in innocent until proven guilty. I did make a mistake when I was young and spent nearly a month in jail for something I was GUILTY of and one of the guards had a big part in making me see where I was wrong and changing my way of thinking. Not by his jailhouse humor or beating me to death but, by showing me the same respect I showed him and pointing out the flaws in my reasoning instead of talking down to me or trying to treat me as some lost cause. He would bring me an extra blanket or let me make a phone call without being asked and I saw myself that all guards are not alike.
However, I also dealt with the egotistical, belligerent, abusive douches that were a disgrace to any form of law enforcement and there were alot more of them than good ones.
If some homicidal lunatic tries to shank you then do what you have to do to go home when your shift is over but, when someone tries to show you respect and cooperate, do the same.
I do realize that jailers have a dangerous job and dealing with criminals has to make for long shifts but, you are no better than them when you break laws and lose your humanity just the same.
As far as this man and this individual case goes I can tell you this, any crime he committed was nothing compared to the crimes that were committed against him and the WHOLE TRUTH is still to come!

Hmmm....I thought you have been saying throughout this whole thread that the guy was your brother....maybe I was mistaken.

You are judging a whole group of people by the actions of a few.

That is like someone being rude to me and then I say "All people are mean!"

There are bad apples in every bunch but for you endorse violence toward C.O.'s is pretty despicable.

You have may have been mistreated by a few but you shouldn't judge all of them on the actions of a few.

It seems that you do not respect the law or those that enforce it at all.

Here is the way I operate. I give people respect upfront UNTIL they give me reason not to.

Are you saying people should be rude to any law enforcement officer because of the actions of a few bad ones?

That seems to be what you are saying but surely not.

I think you should clarify your stance.

Ok so what is so Hollywood about tasers and pepper spray? Have you seen a mall cop lately? The throat slitting may have been overkill but, the best defense I've heard for this man spending a month on life support yet, is that some female guard was supposedly attacked. Haven't heard mention of one injury she sustained other than a bent finger but, I read his on the front page of the newspaper and heard them on the news.
Some people people keep an open mind but, some don't know when to pull their heads out of the sand and see the obvious!
When the WHOLE TRUTH does come out I just wonder how many of you are gonna refuse to believe it and find some new reason to ignore the FACTS?

I don't have an issue with believing the news or facts, but on here there aren't many facts. As for her injuries...it has been my experience that when most officers get hurt their injuries aren't reported in the news very often, simply cause most think it is a casualty of the job and not news worthy. I also doubt that every officer carries a spray and none carry tasers. I figure most have nothing but at all. Long gone are the days of carrying the 3ft sticks you see in old prison movies.

I do agree that had it been bad, that would have made the headlines as his did.

I did enjoy the "Attitude" rebuttal BTW

I am just waiting for facts, not speculation or rumor before I start calling for the hangman, so to speak.

Ninety Nine ..... I think a lot what where read here is bashing and most is unwarranted to a profession as a whole. I have met a few that work there and other facilities, and it seems that when something bad happens the public seems to all a bad apple (or more in these cases) ruin the image of thousands that work in WV jails and prisons.

<quoted text>is that some female guard was supposedly attacked.
This incident didn't involve the man we have been talking about supposedly according to a previous poster, but a female Officer was recently attacked there and she was struck in the face.

This is from the news story with the Inmates name removed.

"(Name removed) was being arraigned at Western Regional Jail in Barboursville on Oct. 24 for unspecified charges when he became verbally and physically aggressive toward a correctional officer, according to jail authorities.(Name removed) began pushing over wall partitions in the room, and he struck the officer on the right side of her face when she asked him to calm down.(Name removed) eventually was restrained, and the officer suffered bruising on the right side of her face. The wall partition sustained $3,300 in damage."

If a Male Inmate strikes a Female Officer in the face, you are going to expect that Inmate to get roughed up a little.

As I stated before, that news story DOES NOT INVOLVE the Inmate in question according to that person's sibling earlier in the the thread.

From what I have read on here by those claiming to be family or friends....The incident in question did involve a female officer being involved, and she was struck also possibly.
