Yes, all co`s have control issues. It`s jail. There is the issue of control... in jail.

This should have been attempted murder as well!

Also, the WRJ will pad the number by firing officers suspected of bringing in contraband as well. So with this beating, and smuggling contraband, I can see 6 or 8 maybe getting fired for sure. Smuggling contraband is a felony offense itself. I seen officers given the option to quit, I can`t recall any proven occounts were the jail pressed charges. But I also seen an officer get off work and get arrested come through booking wearing his uniform, post bail, and be back in time for his next shift.
Are you serious? Was this a police or jail officer? What was he arrested for? This is freaking unbelievable!

<quoted text> "IF" Thats how it happened, still couldn`t see more than 3 individuals with jail time. It depends when the incident took place as well. Admin can deny all knowledge if it took place after hours. I`m not sure about how things work now, but Sgts rarely worked weekend hours. Cpl`s fill in for Sgt`s positions. So if this happened friday night,(most likely, I don`t know if things changed) all Sgt`s and all of admin can deny knowledge untill Monday morning. As far as releasing him and covering it up, that would fall on who ever worked booking. One or two officers. Three or four if by chance another shift of completely different individuals jumped in the cover up for some reason. But releasing an inmate isn`t gonna be treated the same as beating an inmate. I`m guessing even still, 6-8 will lose thier jobs, less than 3 will be charged. Maybe 1 or 2 will ever serve time.
As screwed up as it sounds, I would say that's a pretty honest assessment. I put the numbers a little higher but, like you said. Most of them will get away with it. I hope not but, it happens all the time. What you posted about the guards bringing in dope and bitching about the inmates doing it was a real lol. Lol

Yes an officer. He got off a 12 hour shift, came in a about an hour or two later for a dui still wearing his uniform. Slept it off in holding and posted bail and went home to clean up. Made it back in time for his shift. I also seen an officer come in for domestic and still worked there for some time afterwards. I do know of a few who used to be officers who came in for various reasons that were not working at the jail at the time. I can spend all day talking about shadey ethics of that place, but it`s not actually "illegal".

Bringing in contrabnd is a slap on the wrist. You would actually have to get caught red handed. Tobacco products are not permitted past the main gate. But no one enforces it cause so many gaurds dip or smoke. And falsely accusing someone is a train wreck. I wouldn`t trust someone to have my back if they thought I was dirty and vice versa. So I wouldn`t show my hand so easily. Not to mention inmates constantly cry wolf and collaberate on the wildest of accusations.

It sure should be! That's crazy! I always thought officers were held to a higher standard? Seems to me like if you put the crooked cops in jail, you wouldn't have room for the other criminals........

If the contraband issue was just having it for personal use then, that shouldn't get anyone fired but, all those involved in the beatings and rapes should do hard time.

Crooked? You`re talking about cops or officers doing the exact same thing any civilian does and walks time and time agian. It doesn`t matter who is doing the crimes. The criminal offenses should have heavier consequences. The pizza delievery boy wouldn`t get fired for having a domestic on thier record. It`s like no one cares.

Any cop who drives drunks should lose their badge for life. They are supposed to set an example, no follow the ones set by criminals.

I`m fine with that concept. There should be a higher standard for all law enforcement. But the standard is so low for everyone else it`s hypocritical.

As far as my experiences go, any Officer arrested for any offense automatically goes on suspension pending investigation.

Maybe in the past it wasn't that way but it is now.

Good grief people wake up these guards weren't suspended cause they were doing their job they were suspended because of beating a man and cause of contraband. That is a fact. So that alone is enough to tell you that there is a major problem and someone is in some serious trouble.. seriously does no one read the paper these days. Who cares what the man done it does not give no one and I repeat no one the right to beat a man and put him on life support. If a person was on the street and had done this they would be sitting in jail . What makes them any different just because they are a C.O. that's a bunch of bs. Just goes to show are justice system is messed up as well. These people should be behind bars as well . Respect everyone should learn it if they did regardless of being an inmate or guard you don't treat no one that way.

I totally understand your position, however if a CO grabs up an inmate who is sick and possibly seizing.... What grounds would said CO have to bust an inmate in the stomach more than several times?
